    to your point about iRacing FFB: I drove a Mustang FR500s once at Lime Rock Park and I encountered a considerable amount going into west bend (I messed up my entry, the setu). what was interesting to me was that the steering didn't really go much lighter when I was sliding but the chassis HATED what I was doing. It's hard to accurately describe the feeling because you sort of gotta be there to experience it but it was like it was screaming at me "what the hell are you doing?!?" I think iRacing is doing that too, having the FFB what you would feel at the wheel in the real car. But the problem with that is that as you said, there is a delay in what you see and what you feel because the chassis tells you you're understeering in the real car, not the steering wheel (at least in the Mustang). I personally don't like it either but it might be more manageable if this test was done in a full motion rig, but I'm willing to bet that's a lot of money you don't want to spend right now. good video, I subbed :)

    As long as you feel details, understeer and slip everything else is fine if you change some things for preference. I've seen fast racers who clip and like alot of weight only and knes who like super light wheels with only a little detail. You can adapt to anything and even the smallest of queues but I am like you for sure. I want to feel everything. But I do like heavier center forces. It seems peoppe attribute that to dampening but my wheel with my Serttings has amazing center forced but tons of details and practically catches itself on slips. Just snaps right back as it should. When to light it doesn't snap as easy and I ahve to force it back.

Regarding the ads themselves....youtube give me like, 10-15 dollars per month. Sim racing is just not popular enough in volume for anyone to make realistic money. I do this as a hobby and have a full time job etc. I do appreciate how difficult it is for sim racers to make it as content creators full time. It's not easy and sim racing has a smaller pool of people globally compared to other hobbies. Going off topic a little, but just so everyone knows how the whole advert things work. Channels with more views and so on would get more of course, but it's still nothing huge, unless you're Mr Beast or something. 😂

    Great study there, I always think that, based on iRacing's claim (by so-called influencers) to be 'the best' because of its preponderance online it may be worth considering GT7 as the second best simulator because of the number of people who play it online...in short popularity does not ensure authenticity unless you're a CZcams schill like Mr Broadbent & such like....always find it amusing that those types always seem to have to find their girlfriends in desperate to get out of a war zone eastern europeans. Great content as usual Gary, nice to see some analysis based on actual usage rather than who pays me the most for my opinion :)

    • @GSSimRacing
      @GSSimRacing Před měsícem

      Yeah, I think when it comes to "best", iRacing usually gets noticed because of the online system and amount of content and disciplines available. However, it is lacking in many areas. Graphics and FFB is one such downfall. Considering the monthly subs they get from members, and the amount of content sales they rack up, it is disappointing to see very slow progress in some of these key areas. The tyre model still needs some work, the drop off in grip from a small spin or slide seems way overdone too....although every sim needs a tyre model tweak for various reasons.

Even with the AI - I could actually have a genuine race and the keep up with the AI in the wet, they took alternate lines the spray was unbelievable! LMU has a lot of potential but far too many issues with the FFB for me, it’s the same problem RF2 had, one car would be the best you’d ever drive on any sim and the next would be like a shopping trolley with a dodgy wheel. 😂 Honestly imagine a world where AMS2 had a proper online system 😳

When you're hitting close to the line, it's at such an angle that it's just absolutely nuking the right front on the banking. For me its AMS2. As soon as you start driving, you feel the wheel alive lol. Gives me that sense of speed and i can use that detail when slowing down like in LeMan. I have a CSL DD and i had kept some things stock, i changed the Natural damper to 18 and the natural friction to 35. This was for iracing to give the wheel more life, especially when hitting hairpins I got back on AMS2 on Tuesday to today and holy hell... that Fanatec settings and in game of 65 gain and no in game damper and FX left stock. I did not report it on the LMU reporting thing or anything. It is just a case of a driver that needs to be more aware of a door that is closing and to have a plan B. Jump to 4:48 and tell me what you think the correct thing is to do? You'll see over the next few seconds that he takes to the grass to get along side, ie - the door is closed, there is no safe spot. My line was kept dead straight the entire time towards the left. I made no steering inputs whatsoever. I was purposeful to do this. If you pause at 5:05 you can see he turns out to the left into me and the mayhem begins. You are looking for small reasons to blame the black car I think. But let's be honest, there is none. It is poor driving from red. It was a bad decision by me to expect clean racing in an open lobby. In future I will move sooner and block completely. It seems to be the safest way in open lobbies. In a league race this would never ever have happened. I'd bet my house on it.

You did not fully occupy the outside nor did you give space with all the room available left. You train hard to qualify amongst the first two rows of the grid and then someone is just shooting you out of the race at first lap. On top of receiving a bad rating for the worse position you also get a bad rating for the collision you did not cause. It is super frustrating and only the awesomeness of the drive feel keeps me racing at LMU. If I have people who qualified better than me I always have respect for their performance and it would just be disrespectful to start a dive at T1. A big problem is that bad drivers know they can only make passes on the inside of upcoming corners. If you have a run like he did, you can easily pull far enough alongside the car ahead on the outside and get the pass done by having a better entry and exit, especially after long straights like this. Another bad driver habit is having absolutely zero self-preservation due to their own egos. It doesn't matter if you think you're better, faster, whatever. If you're actually better, your passing opportunities won't be limited to those that will wreck one or more drivers. TL;DR: Just because you are fast, doesn't mean you are a good race driver.
