What is the name / brand of the sling? I have a surgery coming up in Australia and want to use that sling!
Solid; clear & concise tutorial. Appreciate the explanations as to basic logic and understanding of the why to enhance rehab and recovery
U make it look so easy
I'm in Kansas. Would you come here
I’m wearing mine right now. Let’s see what
May I ask the names of the ice machine and the shoulder sling, please? Thank you so much
This video is really useful and informative for those recovering from shoulder surgery.
Melatonin really does work surprisingly well. Takes half an hour to an hour to kick in so plan ahead. Also lasts a long time so you can really sleep in.
Where do you get a sling like that. I have a cloth one it’s no good not doing anything
How can I get the shoulder support
Just had rotator tear repair and have this exact setup. Thanks for the great explanation. Also, I had the regenten graph added to the repair. Are you familiar with this? I understand it greatly improves outcomes.
I like to say that if it isn't drug oxico, hiydocse,or other drugs, that same patient needs .for same reason what you mensch perfinder & others those got on Philippine streets
Excellent video...thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
An unmentioned consequence of taking opioids in my case after shoulder surgery was severe stomach cramps. They were so bad that I dropped unconscious for a short while.
How long after reverse total shoulder replacement do I need to keep using the abduction pillow?
3 weeks post op. The sling was killing me as soon as the nerve block wore off. My advice, start taking your pain meds as soon as you get home. About 3 days and you’ll be good..
no link to the arm sling,,,,, what brand is it, i cant find it, my neck is killing me,,,
The sling he is wearing is a DonJoy UltraSling IV
Just wondering if you have brand names you would recommend for both sling and ice therapy machine. Or a link as to where I can purchase.
Excellent video. A family member just had this surgery and it was very helpful. Thanks for posting.
Constant pain daily no sleep at night and sleeping on the couch ugh!!
Thanks for this information
The ice machine is a game changer!! Love it and use it a lot!
Just had my rotator cuff surgery last Wednesday and I have been struggling with the sling and the ice machine, but this video has really helped. I did not experience any significant pain just difficulty trying to sleep and getting comfortably positioned to do so.
😢😢😢 before hurts so bad 😞
Thanks for the advice going in for a standard shoulder replacement joy at 43 years old 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you, Dr.McKay. This has so much great info in 8 minutes. Love the info on why limited movement is important.
Can't take Tylenol and opioids don't give me constipation.
Thanks for the video. I’m getting prepared for surgery and this has been very helpful for me.❤
The problem with ice when you live alone is that it's impossible to be constantly applying and removing all that gear. *I also got ice burns when I had foot surgery trying to control pain*
Can you please tell me the name of this sling, please????! I would really appreciate it! Thank you!
Thank you
I JUST HAD SURGERY ON FEBRUARY 19, 2024. THIS IS SO HELPFUL. 🙂
I’m having surgery March 15, 2024. Thanks so much!
HI, I APPRECIATE YOU HELPING EVERYONE WITH THESE VIDEOS. I WAS REALLY CONFUSED WHEN I GOT HOME ABOUT HOW TO KEEP MY SLING POSITIONED. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD SHOWER AFTER 3-4 DAYS. BUT DO I TAKE THE SLING WITH THE BIG PART UP UNDER IT AND THE BALL IINTO THE SHOWER ALSO? AND HOW DO I PROTECT MY ARM IF/ WHEN I REMOVE THE SLING TO BATHE? I'M PATIENTLY WAITING AND ANTICIPATING YOUR EXPLANATION. AGAIN, MUCH LOVE AND MANY PROPS FOR YOUR ADVICE REGARDING AFTERCARE.🙂
Thank you for making sense of a complicated situation!
Benadryl also makes you eat if you take it often. Common side effect of antihistamines.
Very helpful, thank you!
Oh really?
I just had rotator cuff and bicep tendon surgery in December and hearing you say, wear your sling, with sincerity really motivates me to stick it out. Thank you for that and for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank you, my question about the sling is how to adjust it so that the hand isn't pointing down causing more fluid retention, but rather being horizontal or even slightly upward. Thank you
Definitely wish I had a sling like this. I knew they had to be something better than the sling I am in
Thank you Dr. McKay. I had surgery December 22nd on my rt shoulder for a complete tear of my rotator cuff muscle with 5 anchors,a bicep tendon relocation plus both shoulder blade and collar bones shaved from bone spurs. It's been over three weeks now and I am dealing with the inside of my rt arm from my thumb to the inside of my elbow. It's numb and sensitive to the touch. I'm hoping that it goes away soon. It's got me worried cause I have Basal joint arthritis that hurts more than my shoulder did. My surgery for it is held off because of my shoulder therapy. I saw my P A last week and he didn't say much about the numbness? What advice can you give me? Thank you
No ice in the chest. Use frozen water bottles, easier to swap out an reload with fresh bottles. It works.
This video is very helpful!
I'm 6 weeks post-op. Get the nerve block and ice however you can! Once the block wore off it was time for the oxycodone. I waited a bit too long and wound up chasing the pain. In the end I used 14.5 of 30 prescribed 5mg oxycodones (yes, get a pill cutter). I have auto-immune disorders and deal with chronic pain. I was concerned about layering analgesics. I kept a pain/dosing log for the PA to review. On day 4 the shoulder was getting better but my Achillies and femoral enthesitis was acting up. I dosed for the auto-immune pain and noted it in the log. Finally, I never understood why docs recommend or prescribe for side effects. If you're having trouble sleeping, why not use an appropriate sleeper? You're in a recliner, likely mouth breathing more, do you really need to dry up your mucus membranes? Get a drug designed for the symptom, not one that has a side effect for the symptom. My non-clinical 2cents. Good luck!
THANK YOU..... I'm quite anxious about my upcoming surgery and the recovery stage...it is a full Reverse Right shoulder replacement ... and this helped. I bought the Breg Polar Care and hoping that helps..... I've seen other videos and plan on sleeping in a recliner chair for the first week.... thanks again
Perfectly clear instruction...Thank You!
Good video sir. Yes, I put it off long enough, but I realized it was time. I had a great surgeon and PT. recovery was tough, but I worked hard in PT. Best decision I ever made.
where did you get the other sling from?
Thanks for the video! I've got shoulder surgery tomorrow, and I'll be sure to use these tips during my recovery!
TWO MONTH???? SLEEPING SITTING UP??
Drugs we need drugs.
