@StevieProton I'm in the same boat. Though I have had Copyright strikes from things I posted. I also get Copyright 'claims' from people who offer 'free' music sources, but these are usually allowed, and so not struck.

Where did you stay? Keswick Show was cancelled coz the field used for parking was six inches deep in water. All the local campsites have been closed and all bookings cancelled.

I like quarries but they do appear to be an eyesore when they're in production. Although, a lot of them make really interesting places for wildlife after they revert back to "nature".

There are a few reasons the house hasn't been cleaned. The cost is one. 😮. £££££££££££. The house is more than 300 years old, 400 in some parts and seen better days, so to clean the stone would likely damage it more. Besides this yes, Wentworth Woodhouse was quite literally built on coal and the wealth from the local coal mines on the estate, so the black dirt is a part of it's history and we love it. ❤ We don't want it cleaning 😊

Yeh, I parked at Bowness Knott and cruised up to Black Sail gate on my eBike. It's 8 kilometres and a nice quiet bit of forestry road. No cars and I saw less than ten people all day. Just how I like it - no tourists. The worst bit is the road from Croasdale down to Bowness Knott - very narrow and lotsa bends. Once you get to the Forest England carpark the road is barriered off, so you only see the odd car going to the field centre or an odd Forest England or National Trust van. Although, all the ones I saw were just parked up and empty.

@@theboy-uk It’s 8km from the Forestry car park at Bowness Knott. Once you’re past the end of the lake you’ll hardly see anybody. Black Sail Hut is a Youth Hostel. I went up on my bike - perfect.

@@StevieProton Now if there was a nearby bike hire place, cycling up there would be epic. A nice 10-ish mile round trip, perfect afternoon out 👍

Cracking flight and footage . What drone are you using and did you have a polarising filter on 🤙

@@Aboveandbeyond76 No filters. The footage is straight out of the drone. I was flying my Magic 3 Classic. The final section was waypointed, so I could ride my bike underneath and keep the drone in sight. The bits at the top of the valley were about five flights joined together. I've been planning it for a few months and I was just waiting for a nice sunny day.

It's six flights joined together. I stop each flight when the drone goes nearly out of sight and I pick some easy landmarks on the ground where the flight ends for reference. Then I move locations to a new launch point, fly back past the previous stopping point and then turn around to start again where I left off. I repeat this until I get to the end. When I edit the clips together I put a grid over the top of the join to crop and move the clips to line them up. Then delete the grid and put a very short cross dissolve transition (30 frames) between clips. I use Final Cut Pro for editing. The whole distance from St Bees beach to Whitehaven harbour is about 9 kilometres.

@@horrgakx Luckily all the take-off points were less than 15 minutes from my house, the weather was perfect and The Dragon was at work all day.

Yeh. It looks like the society has a good plan for the future but it's gonna cost a lot of money.

@@davidharle952 It’s being restored over the next thirty years - £100 million to be spent.

I was there for a wedding and the groom asked the estate staff if I could fly my drone and they said it was ok although they would prefer it if I didn’t fly over the house. Happy to do that.

Thanks mate. It's nice up there and quite quiet compared with Surprise View and Ashness Bridge just down the same road.

@@StevieProton I nipped up to Surprise View again after tea, just before the sun went down and filmed that end of the lake, then drove back to Keswick and got that end. Even at 8pm the viewpoint was busy, as were people trying to take photos of the bridge.

Those mad oystercatchers always get too close for comfort. I slowed the video down using optical flow with a bit of AI - it works a treat. See you made it to Whitehaven last week.

Go and have a look for yourself. I had a quick glance on my way past at some of them but a lot of them are made from red sandstone and the inscriptions are pretty faded on most of the ones I looked at.

I thought I’d sync it up with my FB name. I’ve just checked the original in slo-mo and you were correct. The oystercatchers were innocent. The “landing” was caused by wire problems. First (and last) time in 650 flights.

@@StevieProton Not managed to hit any wires yet, but hit my fair share of trees and bushes!

I could see the cables before I took off but those oystercatchers sneaked up on my blindside like flying ninjas. Up til then it was all going perfectly.

One of the props was missing and two others had the tips snapped off. I’m not sure whether they were damaged when the bird hit the drone or when the drone hit the ground. Luckily, the drone was only about four metres above a grassy field. It could have been worse. I checked it out and put new props on and it’s all good. No gimbal or camera damage. Oh I hate oystercatchers.

I’m going north next week for some different scenery.
