It's a funny thing. The Scots don't really like the English but the English love the Scots. British monarchs always hold Scotland very dear to their hearts. The Scots feel that England has dealt them a raw deal....but there is genuine love and affection from south of the border. Scotland is way more important to UK cohesion than foreigners realise. Scotland is central to the UK...there is no feeling of anything other than admiration from the English. Sometimes I think this fact is overlooked. No one alive today in England tried to bully Scotland into submission. There is only an appreciation and admiration of a proud and inventive people.
