Honey Badger Wrangling....
zhlédnutí 53KPřed 14 lety
Touted as the most viscious and destructive, and toughest creatures on earth, the honey badger is feared by pretty much everything, and scared of nothing, quite happily taking on anything in its path.... this little sucker named Beatrix, is probably the only workable Honey Badger in Africa.... I've been obsessed with them since I was a kid, so getting the chance to actually handle one, was a ru...
Perfect! Thank you… I have a question: what is material that you used for the upper layer as last?
Thanks bud - the very last tie in on top/dorsal is Squimpish Fibre.
@@BucktailFliesthanks✌️

I love your work brother and your style . By far the coolest fly tyin CZcamsr out there
That's beautiful buddy thanks awesome skills .❤
Late to the party as usual. Gonna start using that dubbing patch to control the wild hairs up front. Andre, I can't believe that there aren't more views and subscribers. You're well known to the bucktail people in the States. I don't even tie flys. I tie jigs and you've influenced my tying. Is this some sort of secret backchannel?
Haha, thanks Jim, appreciate the kind words man ( sorry late reply!) I guess I don't push the channel much, but certainly appreciate that some folks enjoy it and get some use out of it. Hoping to get a little more time over the next few months to do more tying/filming and buolding up regular posting of vids.. Thanks again. Dre
Awesome fly and awesome tie. Question - What type of hackle are you using? Is it something like the Whiting "Predator Pack" hackle or is it extra long Schlappen or saddle hackle?? Thanks!
Hey bud - these are all Ewing hackles.. mix of their saltwater stuff and their Cordeiro Flatwing saddles.. love their stuff!
I gotta start doing some vids like this. Question, do you find that "bullet" tying the belly stacks like that gives you a comparable effect to hollow tying or is it more of a personal design choice? Just curious. Also, dig the use of dubbing on the throat.
Hey bud - for me the combo of the super skinny and strong nano silk thread makes tying bullet style a lot faster and with practice have found it super easy to control.. so I really enjoy it, especially when doing “flat” ties on top and hollow ties on the belly.. and you learn to use the “hollowness” of the Fibre’s from different parts of a tail/different tails or by trimming more of the butt sections off the BT .. personal preference I guess but I’ve found for me it’s a lot more “controllable” for most of my tying ..
@@BucktailFlies perfect! I dig the different ways people do stuff. Always an opportunity to learn something.
nice ,,,try the tail feathers flat tail for a different look
Where do you life bro? You can fish w me any time 🤘
Haha! Cheers man, I’m down in Cape Town South Africa!
@BucktailFlies nice.... what species do you target most with the large bucktails. We use those mostly for musky around here in the great lakes region of the United states.
@@chromeslayer5269 We chuck em at Bass in the fresh, and then a pretty wide range in the salt.. alot of mine end up on the outer atolls of the Seychelles being thrown at GT's and the like..
Work of art with Bucktails !!!!!rock on!!!!!
Great fly thanks for sharing. Like the music in the back ground. Looking forward to the next video.
Money bump is a great tip !!!!
Thanks Jay, glad it helped
Hi, I just found your video. This is the best explained tricks and tips I’ve seen for hollow tying yet and definitely going to be used for my large streamers. Beautiful, thank you!
Hey Tom - Thanks for the kind words man, glad to hear the tips were of some good help!!
Excellent builds.
Awesome thanks for that
Keep making tying videos
Nice Vise.
I like this fly thanks for sharing I'm going to tie a few with different colors
Awesome tie Andre. Enjoyed watching. Do you fish them with eyes on them… or without? If so, what’s your desired way to attach and keep them on the fly so they don’t come off. Thanks… Bob
Thanks man - Eyes are always a personal thing I suppose.. when it comes to Bulkheads I usually hated any kind of eyes as they tend to destroy the profile you work so hard to create with a Bulkhead.. So I traditionally prefered them without.. Then I discovered Ru Harveys' Vinyl Invisible Tabs ( rupertharveysflies.com/products/invisible-tabs) which allow you to make use of your favourite eyes on a vinyl tab which keeps the profile of the fly, and allows you to use your favourite eyes of choice.. personally I prefer flat eyes over dome eyes specifically for these kinda flies.. This method require no glue at all, so no ruining of the profile... These tabs are the only way I would use an eye on this style of pattern.. or Jungle Cock Eyes... otherwise I prefer to leave them without eyes.. In my opinion a pattern should work just as well without the eyes!
Helluva fly. When you’re not instructing, how long does it take you to bang one out?
Hey Patrick - Thanks for the comment - When I'm sober, probably half the time or less.. I've simplified the tying alot compared to this version for alot of my tying, but every now and then its fun to go "all in" and make a "fancy" one.. most of the versions I tie these days are around 15 to 20 mins..
@@BucktailFlies thanks for the reply. I’ve been wanting a pattern like this for a while but have struggled to emulate it. Your video was quite helpful. If you feel inspired, we’d love to see the “less fancy” version too
You make this look so easy😅😂😂.
Haha, thanks man.. its definitely one of those styles of tying that becomes easy once youve figured out a few of the tricks here and there.. and very satifying when you do!
Beautiful fly my friend !

His voice sounds a lot like Kevin Richardson’s.
i didnt realize you can use a cup of ramen as hair sorry i didnt mean this in a mean way xD
fuck you, his hair is badass
The only thing scarier than that honey badger is that hair...
Mystery Killer I thought honey badgers would eat anything.... Because he doesn't seem hungry for the maruchan ramen on his head
a ferret skunk!! what a great interaction with you two..awesome
I saw another video of a tame HB and it was similar to this one- allowing a man to handle it and never harming the man, just squirming around. Not so vicious after all- just another animal trying to survive and capable of responding to kind treatment.
you are so right:)
Its all you need for your home security.
I was just thinking that. security from everything. no burglars, no mice or rats, not raccoons in the attic, no snakes in the grass. hell best of all No Jehovah's witnesses pestering you. lol
His hair looks like ramen noodles...
