SLAVIC LANGUAGES
Registrace 27. 02. 2020
The Slavic languages are a group of languages that together form the second most common language group in Europe. You can find Slavic languages spoken throughout Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Balkans and some parts of Asia. The Slavic language you are probably the most familiar with is Russian, but there are at least 14 Slavic languages spoken today. The Slavic languages share more characteristics than many other language groups! Being the second largest language group in Europe, it makes sense that about 315 million people speak a Slavic language. Though there are only three branches currently, they encompass languages from Russian to Serbian. They all descend from Proto-Slavic, which didn’t differentiate into different dialects until the 7th century AD. This probably accounts for the similarities between the Slavic languages, as well as the fact that a lot of the morphology has been preserved.

I'm Russian, I started to learn Slovak a few months ago and understood I can understand 60% without learning actually . The easiest for understanding was Belarusian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Polish, Slovak. It's interesting. I have a lot of Ukranian friends and I thought I can understand the language well. Anyway, all slavic languages are cool. + Interslavic
We all need to learn Interslavic for sure!

Someday I'm going to try to learn one of these languages
Croatian and Serbian ? Ima li razlike braco?😊
all great but only russian is artificial language created by Lomonosov and Pushkin in 17th century.
I know Russian and understood some Belarusian and Bulgarian. Everything else was abrakadabra to me.
Which ones are the closests? Czech and Slovak?
Literally Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian and Montenegrin if you count it. Czech and Slovak have more differences.
@@HeroManNick132 yes but isnt technically all serbian-croat language?
@@jfarinhote Yes, but these are 99% the same just like British, American, Australian English.
Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian and Montenegrin they are basically dialects called separate languages for political reasons. Czech and Slovak , Russian and Belarusian are mutually intelligible .Bulgarian and Macedonian as well(I”m not sure they are probably in the same category btw each other as Serbian and Croatian.) There ara no strict scientific criteria to differentiate a strong distant dialect from a separate language other than the political ones.
As a Pomak (Muslim Bulgarian) greetings to all my Slavic kinsmen
Navrh brda vrba mrda!
Polish is probably the most non slavic.
Romanian Latin I think
i am Russian: Percentage of my understanding: Belarussian-90% Serbian-30% Ukrainian-80% Croatian- 25% Bulgarian 45% Slovenian- something with slavic accent Bosnian-25% Polish- A lot of sh Czech- 40% Slovak- 52% Macedonian- 20%

Let's all Slavs stick together! Neither religion, nor the alphabet, nor this damn politics will divide us. Greetings from Poland to my Russian brothers, Serbs, Czechs, Slovaks (a great tragedy with your Prime Minister) and the entire Slavic Balkans. Hej Slaveni - the Yugoslav anthem was on the same note as the Polish anthem :)
Where are the Sorbs?
@@HeroManNick132 There are a lot of people not here. There are no Kashubians either

Very little beauty in most Slavic languages.
Okay, Brit.
Where is Montenegro?
Same as Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian.
@@HeroManNick132 Pa zato se i zajebavam ;)
I am Ukrainian, and in addition to knowing Ukrainian and Russian, I can also understand Polish, Belarusian and a little Slovak. I also know Bulgarian, so I also can understand a little bit Macedonian. And, of course, i know English

Other languages I understand only few words. If all they speak slouly may be i undestend more))

I wonder how Croatian and Serbian are above Bosnian?
@@HeroManNick132 They might be very similar for you if you speak one of them, but judging by the video, they are different for me. Croatian is after Czech the closest language to Slovakian from my experience and I could not understand as much of Serbian and even less of Bosnian. Where I am coming from - West Slovakia - people pronounce things differently comparing to North or the East of the country, so hearing people from different areas would be also a different experience for a non-native speaker. I am coming from a place where dialect is actually terrible and I am happy that I dont speak like that anymore.
@@danielhagara1442 Croatian, Bosnian and Serbian are literally like British, American, Australian English but no calls them ''different'' languages but different variations/accents of the same language just like European, Brazilian, Angolan Portuguese. These differences mostly occur because of nationalism and relgion.
who is here after Moye more
Let's not forget about Slavic nations who have their own Slavic spirit and language but they don't have their own country like Sorbs in Easter Germany. Germans call them Wends (Wenden, Winde). In Polish we call them Serbs of Lusatia (Upper and Lower ones). Both with their own dialect of Sorbs language which is understable for us at some point and probably for other Slavic nations too.
Kashubian, Silesian, Rusyn left the chat.
@@HeroManNick132 Yep but Silesians are Germans/Poles mix. Mostly with pro Germanish ambitions. So they are both Slavs and Germanic ppl. Their dialect is German/Polish combination with Polishized German words.
As a Polish person when I hear SOUTH Slavs I tend to understand more Serbian, next Bosnian and some Slovenian. Croatian less, Bulgarian and Macedonian barely.
This video is the only place where Slavs don't hate each other
Yugoslavian or vardsaskan sounds so barbaric and they wanna call this like the Greek languange???rediculous
Yugoslavian is basically calling Slovenian, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin ''barbaric?'' Yes, it's most similar to Bulgarian but the only reason why they call it like that is because of the region where this ''country'' lies at.
What about Latvian, I guess it's just Russian too?
Latvian is own branch like Lithuanian. They originate from the Proto Balto-Slavic but nowadays Baltic languages are separated from the Slavic ones.
No, Latvian is not understandable for Russians.
Sounds as Belarusian and Polish. Zero Russian thanks to God
Serbian sounds the best and clearest. Croatian and Bosnian sounds the same, but they speak like they have a big stick in the ass. Polish is also nice. And I also like Slovakian
All of them are almostly the same to me
In fact, most of them speak a dialect form of the Bulgarian language. That is why the Bulgarian language sounds so pure and melodious to foreign people.
Very soon I started only checking who the hottest woman was. 1. Bulgarian (hands down 😍😍😍) 2. Serbian 3. Czech/Slovak draw (as if united again)
