I contacted them for help specifying a hinge for an OEM application I'm working on and all I got was "we do not make recommendations on applications for customers", so yeah, not so sure about that. LOL

May I know in which direction the damping takes place for the gas spring? I read online that there are two types of gas springs, one is an extension type and the other one is a compression gas spring? Is it true? I rarely see people talking about the direction of the damping for gas springs.

What is the effect of left vs right when it comes to mounting these hinges? On a small door for example.

If im not alove because theres a plot twist killer then it was me standing looking for hinges at nhs not the black guy on the ad

Thank you. I've been makng the mistake of trying to compress a cylinder before attaching. Ahhrrgg! Had I only known! Wish this video had been avalable sooner, or that I had found it sooner, but great job for publishing it now.

Gas springs from STABILUS INOX, usually sold by Attwood, have retainer clips in the heads that can come out and get lost. Stabilus does not supply replacements! These are the clips that you must compress using needle-nose plyers in order to remove the spring from the nub. Very irritating when you've lost the darn clip!

Can I get a gas spring that can lift 1 tonne?

I have a 79” long door that is 27” wide and using it on a storage cabinet on a trailer. The weight of the door 60 pounds What size gas struts should I buy? I I tried a 20” by 200 pound because I have a 130 pound kayak that is mounted on top of the door and was hoping to open door with kayak on. But without the kayak on we could no close the door and when pushed brackets bent. Also the door lies into a door frame and is locked with a dead bolt. When struts were added some how it pushed the door out 1/8” and door would not fit into the opening. Could not figure out how it moved since it is held in place with 3 barn doors tule hinges

Is the direction of the gas spring important? I was told the big cylinder must be at the bottom but I m not convinced.. in fact most videos I saw, the gas cylinder is on top and the rod is bottom.. I always thought it doesn't matter..
