    Way too far underrated hollowbody guitars. I am very satisfied with my own J&D SA70S Trem. It is the same body, but splittable open humbuckers and a B70 with a steel lever and Grover Tournamatic tuners.

    Yea man I just love my g SHARP and was just playing it . I wanted to see if other musicians were into it as well. It is such a solid little beast of an instrument. Only one knob for volume. Simple yet effective I don't think iv ever changed strings either. Nor have I ever done a setup on it. I do enjoy it strait into an amp but lately iv been playing it through my mooer ge300 and just changing settings or presets. Super fun guitar. People always smile when they see it perhaps thinking is a Ukulele or something. I often wonder why the bridge isnt attached and perhaps that is why I haven't changed strings ...lol sort of like my fretless bass with flat wounds iv never changed. More musicians need to check this out as it is a great buy at it's price point. The quality is so good and the sound is inspiring. Have a great day! 🙏

    How do they sound unplugged? Same or different? That is how you compare or maybe using the same pickups in differently guitars.

  • @georgekaraspyros3835

    Obeche is the richest in overtones and frequency response sounding tone-wood here (with sugar-pine being a close 2nd). Alder sounded close but suffered in overtones a bit. Swamp ash also sounds nice and bright with a bit of a dip in the mids and severely lacks in sustain. Mahogany sounds extremely nasal, lacks in top end and is also flabby in the bass which you can't hear in this video as the guy doesn't play palm muted ghost notes. I don't know where people see the "Magic" in all the Les Pauls...it seems to me that the marketing guys did a great job for Gibson and sold well to all the sheeple without ears. Paulownia is overall a good tone-wood although I don't like the high mids but it does project well and has good overtones. Poplar sounds poor as hell overall...not a nice tone with no sparkle at all and no overtones at all. They call it the poor man's mahogany but to be mahogany sounds more like the poor man's poplar. Finally basswood is at the bottom of all tone-woods with zero projection and no character at all, it just totally sucks but Ibanez found the deaf victims to sell it to, as they make hundreds of millions off them. Last time I checked it was $2.1 dollars a board-foot times 4 for a guitar body...which means a guitar body of basswood costs slightly over $8.4 and Ibanez sells the guitars for thousands to all the poor clueless deaf knuckleheads. Not bad business at all, hey?! You won't see any of these companies selling claro walnut bodies as they cost approximately $300 to $500 for the wood just to make the bodies. Neither will you ever see Black-hearted Sasafras...

    I've always only heard the difference between mahogany and the other tonewoods. My ear is not super refined to hear the minute differences. But mahogany bodies have clearly a darker, less bright tone.

  • @lawrencegenereux8567
    @lawrencegenereux8567 Před 2 lety

    Not smooth or mellow at all. But if you need to be heard over a brutally loud band, that amp will do it with style. The 1-15" and a large horn cabinet is as dominant as it can get, and Kustom packed it in a fully-functional, visually unique package that has stood the test of time. I still kick myself for not buying one when they were new.

    I think this is a great comparison and to my ear the differences are very subtle especially for solid bodies....semi-hollows, arch tops and acoustics are a whole other story as far as tonewood. The average person is not going to notice the subtle differences especially with solid bodies.....look at Tussarts and those plexi guitars or the cardboard strat. I think a better comparison would be the same video for all those tonewood aficionados out there to do a blind test with these and then try to guess which tonewood is which. To me that would really be the ear opener whether it's worth it or not....especially once you start to put gain from any kind of pedal on there. To me I'd rather have a very solid and playable guitar with pickups I like and have the nicest amps possible to play through....for me as a lefty who would rather have a variety of affordable guitars...Im content with imports upgraded with solid parts and played through old tube amps like military PA systems like my trusty old Bogens that sound very much like old tweed amps. There's a million ways to get there with tone. For me it's often a distraction from getting down to playing music. I turned a $160 Squire Contemporary Strat from Craigslist with who knows what wood into a great guitar just replacing the pickups to DiMarzio PAF reissues, pots, switch and jack to American parts and came up with a guitar with great tone and playability. If I were going to spend money on wood it would be for an acoustic or an archtop. Your mileage may vary. Fun video.

    • @Saurondor
      @Saurondor Před 2 lety

      Blind tests are one of those logical fallacies used in this tonewood debate. The fact that a group of people can't tell which tonewood is which in blind test does not mean tonewood doesn't matter. I've played random notes to beginner players and they can't tell which notes are which. Does that mean that notes are not different from one another and all music theory is BS? Hardly so. Tonewood matters. What does not matter is how much you pay for it. In that sense it's like wine. You can dine on good wine without spending a fortune. You just need to know what to look for. But it'll be hard to do so if everyone keeps telling you all wine tastes the same. Cheers
