Hi TJR, it's a great channel you have, always very interesting. You've really opened up a can of worms by branching out into soundtracks. By the way, I'm surprised that there are no CZcamsrs out there who specialise in reviewing film soundtracks. None that I'm aware of anyway. Here are ten of my favourites not in any particular order and avoiding more than one score from the same composer: The Pink Panther (Henry Mancini); Diamonds are Forever (John Barry); Jaws (John Williams); The Magnificent Seven (Elmer Bernstein) Where Eagles Dare (Ron Goodwin) The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (Ennio Morricone); Murder on the Orient Express (Richard Rodney Bennett); Enter the Dragon (Lalo Schifrin); The Adventures of Robin Hood (Erich Wolfgang Korngold) and The Italian Job (Quincy Jones). Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately John Bonham had a fragile masculine ego ! He simply was too much of a misogynist to be gracious about losing to a girl ! He also could never have played the drums and sang at the same time because he was a graceless drunk !

Why do people have to compare one against another. Each has their area, and are good at what they do, and when someone compares one against the other they are really being disrespectful to the musicians. They do this to fill in that black hole they have in order to give themselves stability which is why we have so many people trying to outdo each other so they can feel superior. Anyone who is comfortable in their skin never behave in this way. Sad to think John Bonham would take offense to this. This shows me how shallow he is.

I have several copies of the 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack. It is my favorite movie of all time and the soundtrack music is as haunting as their accompanying film squences. In all truth, when I listen to this movie sountrack, it's like I'm hearing it for the first time all over again. Same thing for the movie itself, everytime I see it, it's my first time seeing it, 2001: A Space Odyssey never gets old.

@TJRtheOriginal Tom Hanks has always earned my respect for his acting. Now I know why he is such a superior actor. He is a thinker. 2001 is a thinking person's movie. It's a movie that treats its viewer as an adult and causes the viewer to have a thought process to follow its storyline. You see and understand different things about it with each separate viewing.

I always find discussions regarding "Who's the best this or that" as amusing. It always reminds me of how people argue who makes the best pizza. It's music and like pizza, it's up to the tastes of the consumer. That's the beauty of it. They would all be boring if they were all the same. I grew up in the 60's-70's and loved EVH, SRV, and David Gilmore. Funny thing is I'm not really a huge fan of Clapton or Hendrix but appreciate their talent. Just not my taste. Different styles, all great in their own right. Just enjoy what you like and appreciate them all.

I use a Tascam DA-3000 to record my vinyl to an SD Card in 192/24bit wav format. I can optionally record in DSD128 format with this unit. My turntable is connected to my PS Audio stellar phono pre-amp which is connected to my PS Audio Stellar Gold Pre-Amp. I connect the Stellar Gold to the Tascam DA-3000. I take the created file (recorded to a SD card in the Tascam) I generally, record at least 5 or more albums to the SD Card in the Tascam before I edit them in the Nero wav editor. I do this to separate the individual tracks from the wav files. I copy the albums to 8TB USB drives for backup. I then take the tracks I like from the individual albums and copy them to a 4TB SSD drive connected to my Roon Nucleus to playback through my system from playlists I create in Roon. I only down convert to copy to my phone or tablet when I am traveling.

John Carpenter-Halloween 2. Giorgio Moroder-Cat People 3. Ennio Morricone-The Mission 4. Robert Rodrigues-Sin City 5. What a great list of movies and accompanying soundtracks With 150 years of movies it is conceivable everyone could pick completely different lists and no one would be wrong Here are my top 10 My #1 stands alone and next 9 are as they come to me 1 . I grew up listening to my dad's "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back" movie soundtracks. I would be on the headphones, waving my arms, pretending to conduct the orchestra. 😊 But as an adult, this sort of traditional movie soundtrack album just doesn't appeal to me. I mostly like rock or pop soundtracks, made by only one rock or pop artist. Like for example, Prince's "Purple Rain". I rarely buy various artists soundtracks. Only if they're filled with mostly new songs, unavailable any place else at the time. The "South Park" soundtrack is a surprise here, next to the others.

Thanks for sharing your top 10 movie soundtracks TJ! Very cool! The 2 movie soundtracks I listen to most are Alamo Bay and Paris, Texas - both composed by Ry Cooder. And I like weird stuff like the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange. Or does A Clockwork Orange have too much Beethoven to be considered, according to your criteria? I was going to say Wild at Heart right off the bat until you said compilations - which that is made up of, mostly. Death Proof is a compilation and has dialog too. But I like the way Quentin Tarantino arranges his compilations. He goes for the deep cuts, not typical stuff. Anyway, have a great weekend!

Interesting choices! I think music is, often, a very important part of a movie. Some movie soundtracks (only the actual music) might not be so interesting though. A movie can have a few hit songs and the rest is dated stuff OR awesome music for the credits but just strange sound effects for the rest of it. Some absolute favorites. Ennio Morricone - Cinema Paradiso (1988). As often.. It gets even better if you watched the movie but the music speaks volume on it's own. So beautiful and a strong record all the way through. Nino Rota - The Godfather Part II (1974). I actually prefer the first Godfather as a movie but as a whole I believe the soundtrack to the second movie is a bit stronger. Nino Rota might not be a huge name (to current generations) besides the Godfather but if you like the Godfather soundtracks search up more of his music. It's good! James Brown - Black Ceasar (1973). Never even heard of the movie in a different context but the album is a strong one from James Brown.
