This analogy is SO accurate! Yesssss!
Yes! This is exactly what it feels like. Having to switch tasks before completing the one I've finally gotten truly engaged in can be infuriating. (This quick anger may be my ADHD side speaking as much as the Autism, but the issues with "task momentum" are still a big challenge, even when I understand (and am not upset by) the need to switch.) Can't wait to see the whole thing! Your work is always solid and thoughtful.
Woooo!
Best analogy ever!
Your mic was pointed incorrectly it’s supposed to spoken towards the top end of it. You were out of its range.
I can’t really mask myself. My communication skills are impaired and can’t effectively talk as fluidly like the other employees. I am however competent in some areas work wise compared to others. Like unloading a truck faster than 3-4 guys who always keep stealing the role and are slow.
Thats why you gotta fight for accommodations. I'm going through this right now, after 6 years of a job where i was accommodated and then a mew manager came in and isnt accommodating me whatsoever and then dropped my hours to 1 day a week and keeps trying to fabricate grounds for termination - thankfully his boss is working with me like he is supposed to and so is HR. All the stuff youre talking about, in the end, is illegal for an employer to do. Can contact EEOC and sue the companys pants off. I'm late dx, and all my jobs before this ine, i didnt know i was autistic so i didnt fight back cus blamed myself and took the hit, quitting and seeking new jobs. Not anymore. Now im standing up for my rights and, in turn, the rights of my autistic coworkers. I wonder, though. Is this even an argument that the social security administration accepts for awarding benefits? Cus this describes my work history tbh. Even with accommodations, no one will hire me for a job thay pays above poverty level
Anti Styrofoam gang here👇👇👇
As a parent ,I have seen a lot of this in my daughter, since before she was diagnosed at 21. What Dr Wahlberg was saying about the lightswitch switch was the hardest thing for me, as mom, to deal with . The identification of Aspergers helped our relationship and helped her understand herself. She had a health crisis and her college ended after a month, but at this time she's got a remote internship learning to do IT Sys admin, and it's a perfect fit for her limitations and her super powers.
Thanks!
I just love this. I'm going to share it with others who might find it helpful. Thanks!
This is over all my favorite documentary about the topic. I am looking for people that have Asperger "Autism" I am from Panama, bit felt alone quiet a while...
My Grandson and myself are Aspies. It is so nice when we are together we can really understand d each other. It is wonderful having a intellectual discussion about anything!
No you don't understand
The other thing I'd say is, you can also project the love and attraction of yourself onto others youre with. Having sex but youre imagining it from their point of view, feeling close, but its because you are thinking about the love they have for you as if its you rather than you having love for them.
This video really hit home for me. I am 69 and didn't know until 2004. I was diagnosed with it at the veterans hospital in Reno Nevada. I always felt off. Now that I know it is a wonder that I was able to complete an enlistment in the navy. The symptoms described were the one's I had all of my life. I never fit in and was always considered the oddball growing up. It is nice to know I am not alone.
What is that
Hello Alyssa, how are you lately? I'm just one of the people you inspired and educated with your openness and videos. For me personally it was how you described your romantic and sexual attraction, because I feel very similar in many areas you mentioned and crave the feeling of holding my own hand as much as you told us. And that alone made me feel seen and happy. So now I really hope you are feeling well and even more comfortable. And whatever your life looks like in this moment: choose your own happiness. Allow yourself to have desires and to go after them with joy. Let go of everything that's not part of your future intention of a beautiful life. And especially: I wish you even deeper love for yourself. Greetings and all the best!
Things are great! I'm glad you felt seen by watching my content. Thank you for the lovely encouragement and advice <3
Viva la autosexualidad 🩵🩵🩵
Beautiful video really❤
I have this issue myself with fire alarms. In work for fire alarm testing and drills, I am pre warned so I am allowed to leave the building. The problem is when an unexpected alarm activation happens it messes me up for the day and I usually end up having to go home to calm myself and get my mind back. Sounds stupid but it does affect me in such a way.
I am not diagnosed, but I always was sensitive to clock ticking so for the past 20 years I use earplugs to sleep.
School was a nightmare for me. Especially school breaks and trips where I had to deal with this terrible noise my peers made. I couldn’t understand how it didn’t bother them, while I was in a constant stress and fear from the environment. Tried to hide in bathrooms but it was awfully smelly there. It was mentioned two times that I might be autistic but nothing was done about it. Now I get recommendations from CZcams. It all start making sense. Thank you for this video I relate so much… especially with the girls, it made me cry.
I’m autistic and actually really appreciate your video. I kinda laughed when you make the gesture that “Autism $peaks is Garbage. Light it up blue is RUBBISH! Don’t support Autism $peaks. They only say the positive things but disenfranchise the negative histories of how we face ourselves as autistics.” So yes, she’s right, don’t support Autism $peaks. Light it up Red instead, especially that autistic women also matter.
Help I have pencil marks on mine 😭😭
On the one hand, we're super creative and imaginative.... On the other hand we're very literal thinkers. 🤔
Man I really feel like a boomer, I think it's just really been drilled into my brain that fading attractions means like all the other things you mention in your video. I guess also monogamous drills also made that. I guess I do understand the Santa allegory like now you know your partner for so long it doesn't feel nice to have that with Santa. Man I really feel ignorant but it's just my brain trying to grow around a new concept and I'll understand it in not too long. Is it like saying secrets to reddit / strangers and it feels more comfortable than to say it to someone you know because it stays that way instead of working in with everything else that you say to your partner? I mean it is a spectrum. It's hard to tell If people are people who do bad things or just how they work. Or both. People are complicated. Idk when to not understand and respect it or understand it the way I see it and deem it wrong. It feels like a slippery slope for my over openmindness
I have no idea why this popped up in my subscribers' notifications cuz it was uploaded years ago, but I suppose it's fitting to honor Sammy's memory ❤❤❤
He was a good boy. </3
Is that blahaj or a different shark? (Either way, its adorable)
It's Blahaj ^^
R.I.P. Sammy will miss you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making and posting this film. It lifts a great weight from my heart.
Hey, you mentioned being in an autosexual discord, is there a way to join that community? I found your channel shortly after the azeal vid got released and I started to wonder if I myself was autosexual, and after a little journey, I figured out I was :D.
Oop, watched further into the vid
I love my objects. Legos, video games, guns, knives, and watches. Luckily I have an enabling wife that will make me get new acquisitions if they catch my eye.
To all people who come across this, I have just one thing to say - it's okay to be different, it's okay to struggle, and it's okay to not understand. That being said, do not use these as excuses for personal shortcomings. Being different is not an excuse to act out or cause trouble unto others, just as struggling is not an excuse for laziness, nor is a lack of understanding to be used for willful ignorance or indifference. This goes both to those who are neurotypical and those who are neurodivergent. Society will attempt to batter and break you, to make you fit as one of the many cogs in the machine. It's going to be a long and difficult struggle to mold yourself into the person you want to be, so keep at it whatever comes your way. I've spent a long 24 years on this earth trying to find my ideal self, and while I come one step closer to the man I aspire to be every day, there are yet many miles to walk before I become him. There are yet many a thing I don't understand as well that I must before reaching that ideal self. I don't yet understand much about myself nor the world around me and the people who inhabit it. But as long as we all seek understanding of this world and of our fellow human beings, we will make it a better place for all who live alongside us. This sounds very cliche and cheesy, but if there is nothing else I have learned over the course of my life it is these three truths - being different is not a sin, being in the midst of struggle is not weakness, and not understanding something does not make you stupid or imbecilic.
This is a really good documentary and I appreciate the time you took to do it. I was in my 30's when I was diagnosed with Asperger's. Being diagnosed was very upsetting, in my mind it meant everyone had been right. I was weird, odd, that there was something not right with me. It took me many years to get past it. Self-worth is still a work in progress. Inspite of Asperger's I've had success in the IT field and am now starting a chapter of Entrepreneurship.
All my friends thought I was crazy when i said corn starch makes mochis softer 😅
Alyssa: I just can't thank you and celebrate enough this wonderful piece of work. Being closer to Matt's side of the spectrum, the verbal realm -I'm a journalist, writer and musician-, I'm also in my private campaign of helping other people in the spectrum to embrace our condition, so they can develop a new mindset focused on those «superpowers» in order to live a happier, more meaningful and less stressful life. And, in the process, to use their powerful skills to make unique and marvelous contributions to the their society. Keep up, Alyssa. You are truly making a difference in the world 🥲❤
Thank you🤧
Matt is literally me

Not technically. Nickelodeon has autistic characters. El Tigre, Donatello, Twyla….
Question: "blending in." How would you even know if you are blending in? I doubt it's working. Just be yourself.
