Two FREEdom loving fruGIVORES creating a food forest garden in the Tropics, powered by fruit! We left our city life in Cape Town, South Africa a couple of years ago, following our good feeling, which led us to living this simple, low-impact, permaculture-based lifestyle. On this channel, we share our experiences, learnings and good vibrations, as we grow along! Subscribe to follow our journey! We hope you will feel inspired to ‘Follow Your Good Feeling’ and create your own version of ‘Freedom Paradise’ linktr.ee/thefreegivores

In preparation for a potential tropical storm, we had to deal with some short-term devastation, caused by the felling of four 30m light wood trees, that had reached maturity. We were thankful that we took action when we did as our first intense tropical storm on the land hit just 2 days later, bringing a little more devastation to one of our roof structures on the land! Final Touches Before we Move onto the Land!
I've been living in Central Java a little over a year and I'm thinking about starting a homestead
It burnt to ashes because you didnt wet it well enough and dump it out. It ignites on its own if left in the barrel
Where is it bro
Which area is this? How can I buy land in this area
This is so beautiful! Where is this resort? Could you share the name?
Sorry your project has failed. I am not surprised many a copy cat do fail.
Beautiful place 🪴 I have been there🌴
Looks fantastic 😊😊😊
I find this method to be great and low cost. Only setback here is the time. Sugarcane should be consumed within 5 min in order to absorb the full nutrition of the juice. Beyond this period the juice will begin to oxidize and become a brownish color as shown in this video. GREEN is the goal, its the ultimate sign of freshness and vitality. So please consume freshly cut and freshly squeezed Green cane juice within 5 min
7:09 what's the tree you showed? Thanks.
Actually not sure of the tree’s name. We just call it our rain Forrest tree, it is the tallest tree we have on our land, and the eagles in the area love it!
I opened my bin one time and didn't water it and the char caught on fire from being exposed to oxygen hahaha can relate to that last part
What are you guys thoughts on Borneo? I wanna visit next year, I hear its fruit-haven :D any tips for tourists?
Congratulations on your beautiful project! and all the best with the your next chapter!
❤👏🫶👌🙏
muy bueno. saludos de patagonia
Sounds like she's in her death bed about to die. Beautiful work tho
America poor we only build and cut trees not a cicle
Indians use to teach cicle thats water and growing im not especial india trying
Great job 👍 a
Please tell me what you have wrapped around the barrel.
It looks like a quartz fiber insulation blanket. It is a refractory material used a lot in kilns and furnaces.
Radical distillation is the process of making activated carbon and byproducts
after the burning process done, just let it sit and don't open the lid until next day so that you can get the perfect charcoal not the ashes
Great vlog! Just wondering how you were able to buy land and live in Thailand?
Really innovative idea. . I haven't seen this way before. Good
The green fruit we call it Caimito in Spanish and Star Apple in English. They are similar to Sapote family trees. And they have a purple variety which is more starchy and has tones of grape in it. I used to have a tree where we lived 🌞💛☀️
Thank you for sharing! We later recalled first trying the purple variety in Thailand. We found the green variety to be more juicy and tasty 😋
@@thefreegivores i have to agree! And allow me to say your channel is fabulous. We cannot wait to see you open your dream restaurant! ♥️🙌
great job and great video, get rid of the nut & bolt, find a pair of vise grips that fit.
Thank you for these superb videos. You must travel to Puerto Rico someday you will love it! ❤
I have a tip for you that'll make a lot of your projects much easier: use imperial measurements. They're much better for fabrication since you can divide stuff by 3 and they're just much more practical. Metric is great for chemistry and physics but its really not very good for construction.
You guys are doing a great job. It looks so beautiful!! 😍🙏
🧘♂️♥️🙏
Love this thank you
❤❤❤
Do you have some permaculture certification on how to make food forest?
No certification or prior experience… we just jumped straight in…we had some guidance in the beginning but most of understanding and know-how has come from learning by doing things ourselves, over the past 2 years
When I was a child, each day we eat some knick-knacks right before entering or leaving the school. Most of them where processed and chemical ones, but in the beginning there were some that were natural like licorice and Sugar Cane. To be able to grow your own fruit and vegetables being raw vegan or frutarian is something wonderful. This is an amazing food forest. Congratulations!
Amazing to hear!! The cubes of sugarcane that we cut and ate felt like the most perfect healthy “sweet treat” AND it’s so hydrating and good for the teeth! It’s such a shame that this pure goodness has been “lost” with all the commercial, processed and addictive products lining pretty much every supermarket out there!
Are you growing sweet potatoes for selling?
So far we have not even harvested one. At this stage we’ve planted sweet potato as a ground cover and as an “emergency crop/resource”, if needed at a some point in the future.
For selling?
good morning sir.. what is the used of foam and steel cover? how it works and purposed?
Hi, it a ceramic fibre blanket. It is used to maintain the heat better I believe. I am sure if could work without it I was only following a design on saw on the web. Good luck 🤞🏼
@@thefreegivores Id guess the insulation is to keep the temperature in the oven uniform. It also helps prevent children and animals from getting severe burns from touching hot steel.
Hey that is really good efficient design, i notice that you live in indonesia, which part is it? Have you try to make rice husk (sekam padi) charcoal?
Thanks for your feedback. We’ve been gifted rice husk charcoal once before but have never tried to make it ourselves. At this stage, we are utilizing by products from this land, for making biochar and rice husk is not something we currently have on this land…
I' m very like u journey. So peaceful🤟
In your design you need to take the wood gass from the top of your wood drum to the bottom inlet of your fire with a inch steel pipe this will stop a lot of the charcoal from burning and making it a lot cleaner free from smoke and will also take away the pressure from your top lid seal. 👍🤗
Thanks for the tip! Although I cannot seem to make out exactly what you mean, from your message 🙃
You need to use the wood gas that is created in the drum (flamable) to use it as a secondary fuel. (redirect it to the burning tube). Watch '' rt1000 charcoal retort'' from ''4 seasons fuels''. Basically the principle of a double burn wood stove. Hope it helps
@@Wilderness_Tv Great Idea. You are talking about placing a pipe into the lid in the top and then routing that pipe down the side, underneath and then up a little bit into the flame tube. ... That is awesome. So you are using the gas pressure inside to fuel the fire. A bit of this might be going on all ready because the lid is shut the only place for gas to exit would be out of the holes at the bottom. Another approach if there is not enough pressure would be to use a small turbo charger on the exhaust tube. The exhaust tube would need to neck down to create more flow velocity. Once the fire got hot the turbocharger would spool up and pump the woodgas into the bottom flame inlet. If you had enough wood it would be very effective.
No not from the top or you'll get steam in it more like from the middle. You must be careful the flame does not come inside from the pipe / same goes for kiln burner that must be separate from the charcoal exauhst vapor pipe.
But yes this is the idea.
weekly updates PLEASE ! cannot wait a whole month 😩😢
really epic content thankyou !
What kind of foam did you use for your insulation?
Ceramic Fiber
Sorry for the late reply, I recall that it is a ceramic fiber blanket that I used
@@thefreegivores ok thank you
whaaat ? :( any idea how often that happens ? once every few years ?
Not sure exactly how often but the locals tell us that every year there is usually a period known for strong winds that pass through this district…hence kite season in Bali 🪁
so good !! you guys are an inspiration... thanks for pioneering the way :)
Thank you James 😊
So happy watching your videos :) Do you not get monkeys ?
Good to hear 😃 no, we do not get monkeys
@@thefreegivores You are so very lucky haha .. They eat everything:(
Super nice, thanks for sharing and looking forward to coming soon
I am watching your videos in sequence so this comment may be late. If you want to pump water you can look into manual ram pumps built using pvc pipe, should be good videos on youtube. They can pump a good distance and with good head. Hope this helps, peace, love and fruit!
Thanks for the tip… it is a bit late for our borehole but will take another look into this for additional pump systems we may need going forward 🙏
Glad to find your channel and adventure, peace, love and fruit!

Thanks for sharing, Peace, love and fruit!
Thank you for watching! These were some milestone memories for us
You did not show putting the wood in the drum. Just dropping wood in the pipe.
Thanks for pointing this out. Will add it in the next charcoal making video 👍
