I am Manos. Photography has been part of my life for over 20 years. I currently am based in the beautiful Thessaloniki, Greece. My background in astrophotography explorations beneath the sky where my true appreciation for the natural world began. And from this passion was born my love of videography, both as a way to document my experiences but to also share them with the world. After years of dedication astrophotography, my interests and life changes shifted to hiking videography a natural progression born from the inspiration found in and around my time spent on mountains. Mountain videography expanded inland, of course, and the journey continues to evolve. Through videography as an art form, I work towards creating stories which are both personally meaningful in addition to leaving an impression with the viewer. My main joy of teaching is to see that switch flip in the mind of a photographer, when an idea grabs hold and creativity follows.
Διασχίζοντας την χαράδρα του Βίκου. Solo Hiking Vikos Gorge (From Kleidonia to Aristi Bridge)
The Vikos Gorge, a wonder of the natural world in Greece, is known as the “Greek Grand Canyon” because of its dizzying cliffs and stunning heights.
Although in depth it does not rival the American canyon, which is more than six thousand feet deep, the Vikos Gorge is one of the most lovely and verdant ravines in the country, with a depth exceeding 490 meters (1,500 feet).
Part of the Pindus Mountains of Epirus in northern Greece, the Vikos Gorge lies on the southern slopes of Mount Tymfi, with a length of about 20 kilometers (12.5 miles), a depth ranging from 120 to 490 meters, and width ranging from 400 meters to only a few meters at its narrowest point.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Vikos Gorge is the deepest gorge in the world.
