Brilliant! Worth noting that this audience are not actually Queen fans (or at least they weren't at the start.)

George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is not about psychedelics, marijuana, or staring off into a sunset. Yet we pervert it, causing him to weep. The song is a deep and powerful spiritual lament. I just remembered Dir en Grey again and came to this video somehow. They were my absolute favourite band in my teens starting around 12 or 13. Tbh I didnt have a great childhood and there was trauma. Something I always loved about DEG is the emotion. Never have I heard music that feels so .. deep? Whatever lyrics of any song, nothing ever compared to the emotional rollercoaster of DEG songs. Pain surely plays a role in that. I think when you hit rock bottom and lose yourself somewhere between emptiness and despair, this music hits different and can represent it. Not all songs, but many. Some sound more like hope and power, raising from the ashes. I am aware that might sound edgy, but thats what DEG is for me. Music that feels just like my soul does in dark times, but also touches it in a healing empowering way. Also I had a teen crush on Kyo 😂

There were no "boy bands" in the 1960s. The term wasn't used for many years after the group split. I've never heard of The Rolling Stones being called a "boy band" either. Same era. The Beatles stopped touring in late 1966. Sgt Pepper came out in 1967.

This whole album is majestic, really some of the best music I've ever heard. I discovered it a couple months ago and have been entranced ever since.

YES! Bob Dylan. I'm 60 years old and made this connection immediatly myself.

Roger Taylor is way too underrated.

Sandy Denny's voice was what got me into psychedic folk way back in about 1972. Dhe was singing with Fairport then, covering Dylan's tune "Percy's Song", which to this day gives me goosebumps. Her voice was so pure, so crystalline, that it immediately made me sit up and pay attentiin.

Fiona is amazing, but you are bringing nothing valuable to the conversation. She’s angsty? She is brooding? She’s doing a lot of the heavy lifting? I want to ask for my money back, but that’s not applicable. But I feel so slighted.

What a treat to hear Bernard playing live and able to go outside the boundaries of all the sessions he's done. Incredible dynamics and he's got the band in overdrive at the end. Never loses the groove. His signature triplet high hat thing is on Rock Steady by Aretha and Green Earings by Steely Dan and probably more. Jeff Porcaro's dad did a lot of sessions with Bernard and would bring young Jeff along who sat right behind him, and Bernard answered all Jeffs questions when the session was over.

A song about the real torture of esquizophrenia.. Michel mixes reality and fantasy: walks with the fire, upon the Sea, hears voices coming from a bird. We could learn of his anguish and he strugles against his condition, but It trapped him with a kiss, a Desire . Whistling a song os also a self defende mechanism.. This is the only song I know that depict madness with all the suffering It brings.

I really admire the bass player Sam Wilkes. I try to play along on my bass and it´s so fast that I still often mess up. I´m also working on the bass line of another song from them called Do Hot Girls Like Chords and the verse is unplayable for me. It´s really challenging.
