Όταν είχε βγει αυτή η ταινία θυμάμαι τι περηφάνεια νιώσαμε όλοι αφού την είδαμε . Ξύπνησε κάτι μέσα μας , που μας έκανε να νιώθουμε ατρόμητοι , και έτοιμοι να κατακτήσουμε όλον τον κόσμο . Δεν συμφωνώ με το σχόλιο σου φίλτατε , γιατί δεν γίνεται απ την μία να σου άρεσε αυτή η ταινία τόσο ώστε να κάτσεις να ασχοληθείς και να κάνεις αυτό το υπέροχο βίντεο και απ την άλλη να υποβαθμίζεις το ιστορικό γεγονός , λέγοντας οτι 2000 χρόνια πριν , καποιοι νικησαν κάποιους κτλ κτλ . Αυτό που έγινε στις θερμοπύλες τότε περιέχει σαν γεγονός όλη την ουσία και την αξία που μπορεί να έχει ο άνθρωπος μέσα του . Εϊναι το φωτεινότερο παράδειγμα της ΑΝΔΡΕΙΑΣ , της ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑΣ , της ΤΙΜΗΣ , της ΑΞΙΟΠΡΕΠΕΙΑΣ , της ΘΥΣΙΑΣ και πόσα άλλα ακόμα . Και ναι , η Σπάρτη με τα σημερινά δεδομένα ήταν άκρως Φασιστική . Συγνώμη αν το χάλασα σε κάποιους , αλλά δεν σας τα έχουν πει και πολύ σωστά τα πράγματα .
Όχι, όχι, προφανώς και δεν υποβάθμισα το ιστορικό γεγονός, αντιθέτως αγαπώ ιδιαίτερα την Ιστορία και την μελέτη της. Αυτό που υποβαθμίζω ( ή καλύτερα ισοσταθμίζω) είναι η ανούσια υπερηφάνεια που προκύπτει "κληρονομικά" λες και αυτά τα γεγονότα δεν αφορούν την ανθρωπότητα ως δυτική σκέψη και πολιτισμό, αλλά ως ένα αποκούμπι εθνικιστικής/εθνικής συνείδησης μιας χούφτας ανθρώπων που πολιτικά/πολιτιστικά/πολιτισμικά, δυστυχώς ή ευτυχώς, απέχουν παρασάγγας από εκείνους τους καιρούς.

Να προσθέσω σε όσα όμορφα πράγματα είπες, ότι η θυσία αυτή προέκυψε από έναν πολύ συγκεκριμένο τρόπο ένταξης του ατόμου στο σύνολο, με μια ακραία μορφή συντροφικότητας. Οι Σπαρτιάτες λέγοντας όμοιοι, άλλωστε. Αυτό που σήμερα οι άνδρες θυμούνται νοσταλγικά από τα χρόνια που υπηρέτησαν στο στρατό, ως κοινή εμπειρία γεμάτη περιπέτειες και αναμνήσεις, είναι η πιο φτωχή εκδοχή του τι ζούσαν, κατά τη γνώμη μου, οι Σπαρτιάτες. Η Σπάρτη ήταν ιδανική για την ανάπτυξη της συναισθηματικής πληρότητας του ανθρώπου.

There was an early '60s b-movie called "The 300 Spartans" that was actually more visually and historically accurate than "300." I'd recommend it for anyone who hasn't seen it. A bit dated now ( I saw it some years back so don't recall every last detail ) but still quite watchable overall.
The thing is, we didn't watch this movie for trivial nonsense such as historic accuracy. We watched it for the battle scenes. Ask me what led to the battle, you've got me there. All I know is I came to see 300 Spartan dudes throw down with a helluva lot more Persian dudes. Historic accuracy? Pschaw! Give us all the blood, gore and violence our feral hearts desire.
