If it wasn’t for Discovery, Strange New Worlds wouldn’t possibly even exist...

Why should we be grateful to Discovery for Strange New Worlds? Discovery wasn’t pulling in the fans, so they stuck Pike and Spock in it to bump up ratings, then decided to give us yet another prequel… which is ultimately a visual reboot and has little relation to the prime timeline we all miss. I’m a gay man, from an ethnic minority background - as grateful for diversity and representation - Discovery is badly written garbage.

I’d like to think I’m objective sand not a “hater”. I’m a gay man from the ethnic minority background so I’m grateful for the diversity and representation… However, Discovery is badly written garbage. It’s dark, dystopian and depressing. Frankly, it’s been a stressful five seasons to watch.

I know! This season has been ridiculously dull. They baited us again with a bit of nostalgia… a TNG episode premise that has so much potential to explore - but I’m certain the finale will not delivery - because that’s what Discovery does, it leads us on and disappoints. Ultimately, it’s not written by Star Trek fans and that has always been the mandate from the top. I despise it.

Objectively Jamie, why do you consider it “too good”? To me it’s dark, dystopian, makes little sense story-telling wise. I’m a gay man from an ethnic minority background, as much as I like diversity and representation, the show is stressful to watch and not the escapism I want from the once optimistic and uplifting Star Trek.

@@ah7910 No more dark than the regular big bads in past Trek... I absolutely love the show, because I don't like it for a single reason alone, but many reasons. What got me in Trek over 20 years ago was the technological advancement, etc. presented in the universe. Then as I got older it also included the diversity, post-scarcity, etc. aspects. I don't see how it makes little sense story-telling wise... the story has been more than easy to follow in every season.

Roddenberry also never allowed a Show as DS9 with a Starbase or a Series with a Story before TOS Enterprise. So.
