@@one-o-four889 it's not like a carnival ride, racers in general are a very tight group and like an extended family, more often than not you have to know someone, or have earned your spot in the seat, by helping work on the car, set up etc. We always try to plant the seed in young people, to get them engaged and interested and get them off their devices and into the real world, and although firing the car being in it is the potential hook if you will, but it's after that, standing there looking at the car when you explain sitting in front of them is about 10 different career paths that don't require a college degree that they can over time make a 6 figure income or more and go anywhere and make money, for example they can be a welder, fabricator, machinist, painter, tuner, engine builder etc. That being said, there are a few people that do charge for a seat in the car usually $200 ish which usually goes towards a charity and or maintaining the car, fuel etc Nitro isn't cheap, usually unless they know you or you familiar with the cars or have been around them they won't let you wack the throttle

@@garyallen8869 thanks for your reply. By no means was I seeing it as a carnival ride or something anyone could hop in. I truly understand the privileges that come only to those who put in the efforts. I always saw myself (during a visit to the US since live in Europe) spending a few days with a crew, soak up as much information as I could from anyone from the team who would want to share some knowledge on blown nitro engines, and me cleaning up the trailer, the tools, do any job that the guy at the bottom of the ladder would be doing. And after they would all agree that I am an okay guy I would cough up the thousand bucks (I always thought that such an amount would be normal for such a privilege) and could sit in a FED with the engine running on nitro. Fine by me if the crew chief would be the only one doing the wacking. So, hope this explains a bit my initial reaction/simple question. Kind regards, Dirk

@@one-o-four889 no worries, often crews, are very welcoming to visitors from other countries and are happy to show you all about the sport, culture and cars, if you come to visit the US, try attending some of the Nostalgia events like The California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield CA, The Nitro Revival, or some of the Good Guys car shows that have the Nitro Thunder at them, but the previous ones are the best, you may just find yourself having a great time, meeting some outstanding people, and possibly even getting a seat in a car much cheaper than you think 👍🏁

Lol, not to be or sound condescending, but you don't know what you don't know, surge has NOTHING to do with an "open air scoop", and the scoop has air cleaners in it, nor do the "butterflies" have anything to do with it, nor does butterfly transfer slot exposure have anything to do with it either Surge is caused by a rich/lean condition, in a carbureted example like this it's the transition from the idle circuit to the main circuit, been tuning these things for 40 years, study, ask questions, and understand what your talking about first, "but you already knew that huh ? Bottom line if it's surging it's not tuned correctly period

@@user-df8fj2np2t it's very simple they aren't tuned right, not all supercharged mechanically injected, or EFI motors surge, the ones that do aren't tuned right especially with EFI, because it's even easier to tune out the rich/lean condition in that particular part of the fuel map where it is occuring,by adding or removing percentages of fuel in those cells where it is occuring Mechanical injection is very difficult because mechanical injection has a constant flow pump that increases pressure with RPM, so it's getting the main jet, residual pressure valves, and barrel valve set right as well as throttle blade opening set right, contrary to what people think, mechanical injection can even be made to work on the street and idle and work just like a carburator or EFI, but it takes a special rifle drilled spool, a second bypass and a sprint car dial-a-jet, like my 100% street legal Nitro Coupe has, Often some people will intentionally put a motor out of tune so it surges because some people think it's cool, but nothing could be further from the truth, but to each their own, bottom line if it surges it's out of tune Take a look, listen to my Nitro Coupe idles, doesn't surge and drives just like it has EFI, with mechanical injection czcams.com/users/shortsPB85LXPc5uc?si=Nz4Jvlb17CQpcbcJ czcams.com/video/dXtnPRA2xxY/video.htmlsi=RRsVEi74KDGIZJ-c Here is another example my blown Alky front engine dragster, mechanically injected on alcohol and no surge czcams.com/video/Vul-kuZWM-M/video.htmlsi=_rzyqM_hlXAvm_G9
