Radio Rock Top 40 Jocks and news team is what got us listening back in the days! Dan Igram!
man was he good. best ever at his profession
Man could have been president
70's, 4:00 in the afternoon. I'd flip my car radio to WABC, Dan would come on and everything would be right in the world. I pull up snippets of him on CZcams to return to my precious past, made so by talent like this. I love Dan Ingram. Didn't understand how important a part of my life he was then...but I sure as hell do now.
I met him in the 80's. A super gentleman
He was the best Top 40 DJ of all time.
With all of the DJs from Music 🎵🎶 Radio 77 WABC AM who came to CBS FM 101.1 oldies station. Harry Harrison, Ron Lundy, Dan Ingram, Bruce Morrow and Chuck Leonard who worked there occasionally.
I spent 28 years on the air. It was never as easy a Dan Ingram made it look here.
Thank you Art
When I was in High School in the early to mid sixtys , Big Dan Ingram was on the radio from like 3 pm to 6 pm and he was awesome. His Aunt Martha was also my 7th grade teacher. Truly a legend. "Stay tuned for more music and Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig Dan Ingram "
From the '60s till he retired listening to Dan was always great. WOW!!
GRANT HUDSON WAS THE BEST IN CANADA/ AMERCIA
I'd add a Like, but it is sitting at "777".
😁
Cosell is absolutely brilliant. Sadly his beloved Emmy died just weeks later. Mister Ricky Sklar died in June 1992 just 24 months later at Roosevelt hospital due to hospital negligence and wrongful death. Ricky Sklar passed away too soon
Defintely one of the best. Professional, but loved to make fun of his own mistakes. That alone, made him stand out.
I love his personality and his style and he’s so close to My all time favorite Casey Kasem. Rest in peace gentlemen !!
Dan Ingram once joked about his profession of “disc jockey”: “I never rode a disc in my life”.
Super video!!! Enjoyed it immensely.
These guys were so professional, people on radio today you can't even listen to them they don't have a broadcasters voice
Love hearing his voice again. Miss you.
I can't believe he's using a 421... My least favorite voice mic of all time. But... it's Dan Ingram so it sounds great.
The MASTER! What a talent!
Thanks for the Memories To the Whole WCBS Fm Crew!!!!!
Dan Inghram perfected Top 40.
Dan had great timing to talk on instrumental openings of songs and then stop when the vocal starts.
Through the years Bruce Morrow has been overly kind about how spoke about Dan. Both were in the same business, but both handled their duties in very different ways.
A Good man !
Mr Ingram you. We’re the greatest rest in peace Dan you were the best
Grant Hudson was an absolute master at the "blood and guts 20/20 News" style. In the mid-1990's I discovered some old airchecks of CKLW News during my early days at WERT-WKSD. Chris Roberts, who had worked a few weekend shifts at CKLW in the early 70's and now owned the stations I worked for, encouraged me to try to replicate that sound. I wore out a thesaurus a year and brought that sound back to life for 5 years. We even used the CKLW News Sounder and did 20/20 news during the AM drive. People LOVED it. The inspiration of Grant Hudson on my career as a news anchor cannot be overstated. When Lee Marshall said "I should be ashamed"... I laughed out loud. I should too - but I'm sure as hell not. It was a fun time and great to pay some very small tribute to the extremely talented CKLW News Guys. They were and remain - legends of radio.
Cossells definitely a Murrow disciple.
0:50 Wow! Newscaster Tony Warren, able to keep his composure reading the top-of-the-hour's news whilst Dan's just "mimicking" at him, goofing off but for fun.
Loved Dan Ingram & Ron Lundy, the alums of 77 WABC for many years (the latter would end up CBS-FM two years after WABC permanently utilized an All-Talk format; Ingram then came some seven years later).
Cousin Brucie is back on the radio. Saturday night rock and roll. 77 WABC. 😊
these fucking jocks seem they have to talk even when the singer starts singing
a MNF broadcast with howard's cosell and stern would have been fun.
The best voices.
I loved listening to 101.1 FM whilee I was on tour busses.
I know I played them on the bus
Mr kitchen was my principal in kindergarten
The "Louisville Slugger" story is a classic.
Hi Art, this is Holly Sklar, Rick's daughter. Thanks much for posting this! You can connect with me on linkedin or FB if of interest.
Rick Sklar and dick schaap were killed by hospital negligence. They died due to hospital negligence and poor training and lack of supervision by doctors. Awful stories and hopefully these hospitals paid for the families loss. It’s ironic that these two great men were killed by awful hospital administration staff
Your father died in the same hospital where John Lennon died. That hospital had to pay a fine for their negligence in killing your dad sadly because he wasn’t incubated properly. He died from a simple foot operation. What a tragedy. Cosell and Sklar were very close friends with John Lennon. Ricky Sklar died in that same hospital as John Winston Lennon just 12 years apart
Livia helmer accidentally killed Rick Sklar due to an incubation malfunction sadly during a routine foot operation as he wanted to run again What an awful story. They sent oxygen to his stomach and not his lungs. Howard cosell must have been outraged by the death of his good friend Ricky was only 63 year old and died due to negligence. Ricky died on the operating table
Rick Sklar told his son before surgery it was going to be a piece of cake. He died hours later. Dick schaap died in a similar negligence mishap at New York hospital. They were killed how awful. Howard cosell lost two close friends in 1992 and 2001. Outrage
We live Boston festival posted lobster 🦞 here's city's
RIP 🪦
Such a great voice he’s got! K Earth he was awesome as well!
I grew up listening to Dan as a kid in Yonkers New York, back when times were so much better than they are now, what a pleasure it was running across this, and some of the many other posts and videos of this wonderful man and his talent, and what a talent he had! What a shame we don't have that Talent today! So glad these memories will live on forever, so glad I was part of the real thing way back then, and so happy to hear them again today! Rest in peace my friend you made so many people so very happy! You were a true Class Act!
I remember in the mid 80's staying up really late Friday night listening to his ( I assume it was nationally syndicated) version of weekly Top 40 in suburban Philadelphia. Miss that unique voice.
Howard was the greatest and was happy I lived in his time.
Cosell had an enormous ego, no doubt about that. But one can’t overstate his cultural relevance in the 1970s, and his very presence made an event bigger.
He could have called a game of checkers and it would have sounded like a Super Bowl.
While the great ones usually inspire many imitators. I know of no one like the great Howard Cosell, though.
For years laying on the beach at Seaside Heights I heard his radio introduction as "getting rum" and wondered why they were saying that. I believe I asked someone this and they laughed and corrected me and said its Dan Ingram. Now that's funny! Miss those days.
YOU MAKE ME FEEL BRAND NEW
