IIRC, if a creature gets a hit , it inflicts a number of damage equal to its level .per hit. So that level 2 Stingwing did 1 hit but would inflict 2 damage. That is why level 3 creatures are so "nasty" . I could be wrong it has been a few years, since i played

Yea, the New Cali addition really added alot more scenario/adventure options/maps/ PC's and filled out the game to cover alot of F/O video game locations , and cleaned up the rules some . But The Atomic bonds co-op rules expansion is what really cleaned up the rules to make the game "playable" , The base game rules /victory conditions were/are a convoluted mess. F/O tBG, New Cali and Atomic Bonds are needed for a complete good game cost\ ( about $100). total If people buy just the base game ($40-60), definitely get "The Atomic Bonds expansion too. It is pretty cheap. $17 You can buy New Cali later. which is about $40 I played 2-3 partial games a few years ago I have yet to finish a game. .Currently , I am doing Dawn of the Zeds. I'll get back to this game one day.

Imperial Starfire, third edition, was authored/co-authored by David Weber (Yes, that David Weber, one of the many best selling authors who got their start writing excellent games. and unfortunately, never looked back! :) )

This is one that’s fairly underrated, imo. The action card mechanics of play now or save for later and pay less initiative gives a bit of strategic depth. The 3D plastic was repeated in the coffin box version of Runewars for mountains. Sadly, as far as I know, those two are the only games that was done for.

Seems like the multi-player game would involve a lot of the Merchant player(s) bribing the military players for safe passage.

I found the Folio version in a game store (when those still existed) back in 1979. That was the bait. An early box set with a much larger rules book was published a couple years later while I was stationed over in Europe. Middle 80's had me spending a significant portion of my paycheck and organizing a few playing groups. Late 80's early 90s the Doomsday (captains edition) totally rewrote the game. By then I was a lifer addict. Now, some 40 years later, I still have this GIANT plastic tool chest FULL of multiple copies of just about everything made up to the later 90s. I once had it all boxed up and weighted about 80 lbs. I was once a contributing member on the SFB channel on Usenet (back in the mid 90s) when Usenet WAS the internet just prior to the Web taking that title. Hopefully, eBay might prove a GodSend as I really am getting tired of storing this huge box of unused game materials that once inspired me to drive 6 hours to Denver so that I could spend the entire day spending hundreds emptying out every game store and hobby shop of anything SFB! Yeah, I had become a problematic SFB Addict...

Great game, one of my fav RPGs and co-ops! Really captures the WoW feel and me and my friends always have a blast leveling our characters. The first, small expansion is a _must have_ , with many improvements and great additions.

I have this version of the Doom board game and the 2004 version + the expansion in my collection, In my opinion the 2004 version of Doom the board game is a much better game then the newest version, though both are great to have particularly for Doom fans/collectors. Have this, plus the two expansions. It’s OK, not amazing, and it helps to be a fan of the game. The combat system is the most interesting part. If you can find the Rune Wars board game (not the miniatures) I’d like to know your opinion on it.

You're a legend i've been searching this video for weeks to complete the half rulebook I got ! Something i don't understand is wether the missile factors are spent for the whole combat phase or just for the combat round. And also if i have to spend all missile factors at once or if i can reduce it. Also the table refers to 7 dice roll in some instance, are these only when the targeted ship is disrupted ?

I've never owned or played Space Crusade. So, I presume the game is over when the first team of Space Marines to kill the most aliens wins the game.

A cash grab by Fantasy Flight, since they had the board-game rights all things to F/O. This game was originally a rare solo vid game expansion based on F/O, and they converted it to a multiplayer game board-game.

RIP David Drake. Just heard of his passing this weekend, 2/3/24. For years I was in the main Lovecraft Amateur Press Association the EOD with Drake, but I'd never met him, alas. I recall this game coming out in 1984, but I was already a huge OGRE/GEV gamer, and I hadn't yet had a chance to read Drake's Slammers novels or stories. I used to be a serious strategy gamer and RPG gamer back in the late 70s and 80s. I gather Drake's books sold quite well, though I was more of a horror fan so I didn't read that much hard SF.

GDW kinda shot themselves in the foot with this game. They already had (RPG)Traveller and Impeirum We were playing Traveller fairly heavy in 1980-1981, A friend of mine got a copy of Double Star and I remember looking at it and going, "Nope" it is not another addition to Traveller and the rules were totally incompatible with Traveller space combat, and we had piles of ($$$$)/Traveller Gaming materials/ by then. IIRC, We never played or tried to use this game (maybe a GM/DM tried to use the map in a Traveller adventure ,but IDK., now, 40 years later). It got hurt because of the success of Traveller, and IMO, they never should have tried to publish this "stand alone - by itself" space combat game at that time, in conflict with their best selling game and its quickly expanding line of related space combat games. But GDW being GDW? Well that explains what eventually happened to them.
