Plantation train on St. Kitts in the Caribbean. 30" gauge. Looks like German loco. Note: very rough trackage combined with extra high cars and 30" gauge = very rocky ride. But very nice scenery! (Rum punch didn't hurt either.
New Mystic Mountain RR helix, return loops

Mystic Mountain garden RR. A 4.5 turn helix was converted to an upper and lower return loop for loop-to-loop continuous operation. This makes maintenance easier and improves operation.

There is a national garden railway convention somewhere in the U.S. nearly every year in the summer. This year it is in Atlanta; next year in Portland..

That's a challenger
lol The only challenge is your ability to count driving wheels. This is a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy. The Challenger is a 4-6-6-4 wheel configuration. 40 seconds into the video it's quite easy to count.

I've seen it pull 20+ adults up a grade.
How much does that thing weigh?
Don't know weight, but property/railroad has been sold and is being dismantled.

is f and o scale practically the same?
bjmxd not at all. F scale is much closer to g scale. F scale is much larger than o scale. It's about 1:20 scale.
O scale is 1/48th scale. Much smaller.
Amazing work of art; impressive. I think about the many kinds of visual and more works in the world that do similar things, asian models of scenery for tranquility and thought provocation. Dioramas for historical tales or education. Fancy games. I was shopping, found a link to here, and its rather inspiring.

Given that the F scale is equivalent to about 1:20 in which scale are the diecasts car that you use? 1:24 or 1:18?
1/32nd scale I believe.
Most of this stuff is fabricated by hand or done custom. F Scale is probably the most exclusive and expensive way to model railroad. You have to be well funded and all in on the hobby is you want to pursue F Scale. Thus, the cars are almost guaranteed to be in the correct scale to match the locomotives.
David< Blackstone HOn3 engines are incredible running, great sound and there rolling stock is equal. Don't hesitate for a moment to go HOn3!

It's amazing how they made adaptions to accomodate #5, like the extension on the water tower and the turntable procedures.
In June, I saw this engine in the roundhouse while, was recently brought from Wisconson. The engine just barely makes the turntable.
Really too bad you can't blow realistic whistles with these sound systems.This one only does grade crossing.
Too bad you don't know your proper whistle signals!

This is Howard McKinney's layout. He is a good friend of mine. Must see if you go to O scale west this year. The Bachmann loco's were re-gauged by Howard. Locos are not just MMI but a variety of makes.

??? You can convert On30 to On3 using certain forms of doing so. Still cheaper than buying brass.

is this in different cities yearly? I live in illinois and didnt know about this. I have n scale in storage but no place for a layout atm.

There is a National Garden Railway Convention yearly - this summer (2012) in Chicago in August. There is a cost, but all are invited, and there are many activities & tours over 4-5 days.
when does this happen and can general public come.
