Plantation train on St. Kitts in the Caribbean. 30" gauge. Looks like German loco. Note: very rough trackage combined with extra high cars and 30" gauge = very rocky ride. But very nice scenery! (Rum punch didn't hurt either.

Mystic Mountain garden RR. A 4.5 turn helix was converted to an upper and lower return loop for loop-to-loop continuous operation. This makes maintenance easier and improves operation.

      lol The only challenge is your ability to count driving wheels. This is a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy. The Challenger is a 4-6-6-4 wheel configuration. 40 seconds into the video it's quite easy to count.

      bjmxd not at all. F scale is much closer to g scale. F scale is much larger than o scale. It's about 1:20 scale.

    Amazing work of art; impressive. I think about the many kinds of visual and more works in the world that do similar things, asian models of scenery for tranquility and thought provocation. Dioramas for historical tales or education. Fancy games. I was shopping, found a link to here, and its rather inspiring.

    Given that the F scale is equivalent to about 1:20 in which scale are the diecasts car that you use? 1:24 or 1:18?

      1/32nd scale I believe.

      Most of this stuff is fabricated by hand or done custom. F Scale is probably the most exclusive and expensive way to model railroad. You have to be well funded and all in on the hobby is you want to pursue F Scale. Thus, the cars are almost guaranteed to be in the correct scale to match the locomotives.

    It's amazing how they made adaptions to accomodate #5, like the extension on the water tower and the turntable procedures.

    In June, I saw this engine in the roundhouse while, was recently brought from Wisconson. The engine just barely makes the turntable.

    This is Howard McKinney's layout. He is a good friend of mine. Must see if you go to O scale west this year. The Bachmann loco's were re-gauged by Howard. Locos are not just MMI but a variety of makes.

    ??? You can convert On30 to On3 using certain forms of doing so. Still cheaper than buying brass.

    There is a National Garden Railway Convention yearly - this summer (2012) in Chicago in August. There is a cost, but all are invited, and there are many activities & tours over 4-5 days.
