    On the Ford 8.8 I was under the impression the Explorer rear end was more narrow than the f150. Did you just have room for wider tires. What was your experience?

    On your oil filter, there is a metal adapter that goes there before the oil filter take it off the old block and drill 4 - 3/8 holes in it between each other four holes for a total of eight. The extra holes help when the oil flows back into the block.

    I get old big trucks are easy to work on because of shear space and availability of parts but was not expecting this sort of straight forwardness. Only question I had was since you had to move the entire tranny mount 2 inches towards the rear. How did you get away with using the same length driveshaft?

    The truck that I have has an excellent engine, but the same thing happens to me as you explain in the video where you say that the truck has a lot of rpm and only with three gears that I have to change the transmission to a faster transmission or change All engine and transmission.

Or stay with the engine and just put a different transmission in it like you did

    If you have a 360 in it, it should be internally balanced. I was wondering if that gave you problems putting a manual behind it?

    • @dillonstrange302
      @dillonstrange302 Před rokem

      Nope 360 are external balance. 318 and I believe 340 were internal.

      @@dillonstrange302 yeah I meant to say externally balanced. Did that affect the way the manual transmission worked. So many people have steered me away from doing 360 to a manual

    • @dillonstrange302
      @dillonstrange302 Před rokem

      @@m.w.g4705 it’s no big deal at all, just have to get a 360 flywheel. That way it’s already weighted correctly. I will say that the 360 LA and the 5.9L (360) magnum do have different weighted flywheels so make sure you get the correct one for your engine.

    Really nice set up man!!! I just got an 85 D150 as a project build. For now looking for some wheels and tires. Is the bolt pattern a 5x139.7? also the hub size and best offset without rubbing. Looking at 15x8 rally wheels. Any info would help Thanks man.

    • @dillonstrange302
      @dillonstrange302 Před 2 lety

      Sorry for the late reply but my bolt pattern was a 5x4.5 and I found some wheels off a jeep wrangler and threw em on. Make sure to measure your bolt pattern though, some of the early 2wd like mine had the small bolt pattern but I believe the later years went to 5x5.5. I can’t remember what the backspacing or offset was but they fit barely with some fender rolling. I’d go with a 8 wide in the front and a 10 in the back. Just measure backspacing on these old truck and find a wheel that works that way. Trying to figure out offset just hurts my brain lol
