Does that wheat yield good. It doesn’t really look like there is much in the field. How’s the bpa?
@@knoxmills First off this is not our wheat field. Second off for our area 25 bpa non irrigated wheat behind cotton is pretty good. This is our first dryland crop in 4 years. For irrigated our best was 52 bpa. But yes that field was definitely not the best yielding.

Grew up farming. My father, who was very wise, told me I could farm, but I had to have a day job still farming. I'm third gen, also have two day job skills trucking and mechanical repair. It gets in your blood, and it is very hard to live without it.

Why are yall chopping stalks in the summer
We use the previous years cotton stalks to keep the farm from blowing when the cotton is small. This field is 40” sub-surface drip irrigation. One year we plant on top of the tape. The next year we plant 20” off of the tape or in the middles. By chopping the stalks and cultivating the middles once the cotton is large enough not to blow we can get rid of the old stalks, volunteer cotton, and weeds in the middles.

What kind of Wheat are you combining.
Winter Wheat. The most common varieties in our area are TAM 112, TAM, 114, and Longbranch.
What green plant growing on the wheat ground?😊😅
