This theory of cancer might better explain how cancer rates don't correlate with body size, as while the number of cells which could potentially become cancerous(for any reason) increases, the stabilizing pressure of this communication network seems like it would also increase. Of course, mutations, DNA repair, and the regular lysing of cancerous cells by the immune system are still very relevant in this paradigm.
