Oh I hear you completely! Redout 2 has grown on me a bit and is a nice change of pace, but overall, Redout 1 is the infinitely-superior game in all aspects.

A couple things- first, I recall others in the community saying that earlier in the career, the top speed stat is uniquely beneficial due to the way the stat scales up in on the graph. You might have too many stat points in things like stability or steering right now that aren’t as important at that power level. Secondly, and I can’t recommend this enough, go to the game’s Discord server - discord.gg/Redout- and ask around. There are a ton of really good players who could point you exactly in the right direction after looking at screenshots of your ship graphs.

Definitely- for all its current issues, the game’s balance was pretty spot-on between the different vehicles and associated builds.

Good question- I saw that another XG2 player was trying to break my previous Spectre record with Venom and mentioned on stream something about the bike having faster supersonic speeds. Upon trying it, it seems Venom gains significant time over the Spectre in this track’s really long straightaway, making it the best choice.

Well you can get up there but it certainly doesn’t make for a clean lap; it’s a much slower route.

Me too, I would have kept up the series longer had my analytics not shown that people basically only watch for the lap itself and not the analysis!

It’s a good game, has a nice physics engine and LOTS of content! The biggest drawback for me is actually the bland soundtrack- it’s extremely generic and almost all of the songs sound exactly the same. I have played a bit of Xenon racer- it seems good but I haven’t delved into the campaign yet to give you a full opinion.

Thanks for the kind words, glad you’re enjoying the game! About the health/heat, that’s a good point; right now they’re indiscriminately lumped into the “durability” stat.

Great question- as far as I’m aware, the reset timer on the health gauge is the same regardless of ship build or strategy. Just keep in mind that any ship collisions or overheats will reset that health regeneration.

It’s a matter of preference but I don’t like the dual-analogue “default” controls at all. I remapped my controller to mimic the “classic” scheme from Redout 1 (so no right stick involvement and strafing on the triggers). The issue with this setup is that unless your pad has symmetrical back buttons (like the Xbox Elite), you’ll need to set left roll on L3 and right roll on RB. It’s not ideal but I’ve gotten used to it.

Nope, I’ve never experimented with that. Is it easy to set up on the emulator?

@@S2riker Apparently so, i use a hardmodded console myself, Setup wasnt too hard, just a matter of getting the right file to your console and opening it from there

Thanks for watching! I haven’t done all the events so I wouldn’t know but the community consensus seems to be that this is the hardest platinum. Surface Sprint is a hard track but you don’t need to learn the cuts to platinum Jupiter’s TT, unlike Debris Trophy which probably requires at least a couple cuts.

I agree, it could have been better with a little more development time but it’s still fun. I believe it was a first-time project from former student developers.

The unpolished vibe probably comes from the boosting and how the craft instantly pops into a lower position before slowly rising. The sound effect isn't helping either because it sounds like the vehicle is just accelerating from idle rather than going faster than before

@Sparkz1607 Good points! Luckily the game at least has a solid (if not slightly stiff) handling feel.

they also could've raised the camera slightly so you can see the track better, (if they were too attached with how the ship looked from this angle they actually could've gotten away with pitching the ship down to adjust, the player wouldn't notice much) I really like how stiff the handling seems in this video and it looks like a real racing line is being taken

Haha it doesn’t feel like Redout though- the handling isn’t floaty and it plays like a stiffer F-Zero. I certainly don’t like it as much as Redout but still had some good fun with it!
