How to Sew a Comfortable Travel Pillow for Kids
DIY Travel Cushion Supplies
-Cotton Fabric
-Poly-Fil Fiber Fill
-Fabric Paint & Brushes
-Elastic
-Sewing Machine
Step 1: Use the pattern to cut two pieces of the desired fabric to 22"x27" panels.
Step 2: Measure the dimensions shown on the pattern and mark them with chalk. It will create the "U" shape for the DIY travel cushion for kids.
Step 3: Use fabric paint to fill in the face design. Be sure to place cardboard or a plastic placemat under the fabric to protect your work surface. Let the fabric dry completely and then iron it.
Step 4: Place the fabric squares with the wrong sides together. Sew along the two long sides and the bottom. Do not sew at the top where the "ears" are.
Step 5: Sew along the smaller "U" inside the design. I sewed right along the chalk lines. Again, do not sew the top closed.
Step 6: Cut out the small rectangle inside the "U" shape. Flip the cushion cover inside out.
Step 7: Stuff the cushion with Poly-Fil Fiber Fill. Fill the bottom first, then fill the sides.
Step 8: Fold, iron, and pin the tops of the "ears" down. Insert the elastic and sew across twice to close the cushion and secure the elastic.

Haven't seen anyone use fabric in their laser until now. You're never too old to learn new things. Can't wait to try this technique in my Xtool. TYFS 😊Linda
Thanks! I hadn’t seen anyone do it either so I just had to try it to see if it worked. I’m so glad it did!
Beautiful 😊
Thank you very much!
So cute! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching! ❤️
Just beautiful I going to try them
Thank you!
This is absolutely brilliant hun. I love what you did. You're so very talented ❤ hugs -Ericka
You are too kind! Thank you very much ❤️
Love your decoupage techniques! This is a fun project for Halloween. Can’t wait to try something like this with my laser cutter.
Thank you very much! It's fun to combine tried and true techniques (like decoupage) with newer trends like laser cutting!
So cute and spooky. If that is possible. This house shape can be used with so many style. Loved the paper you used for the walls.
Thank you!
We’re did u buy d board with d holes at? N u also said there was a third row, how many did u put on d 3 rd row?
The board is from Dollar Tree but you can find them at craft stores, too. I put 6 in the 3rd row.
Thanks great video!
Thank you!
I love this little spooky house! 😍 and I also love the little jason inside, so fun! 😃 And what a clever way to make the "hinges" for the door! Thank you so much for joining us! ❤
Thank you!!
Love this!
Thank you very much!!
Hey Morena! I love Halloween too! Im going to try this with a birdhouse!
yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Such a fun house!! Thank you for sharing alternative ways to make a house for those of us who haven’t gotten in to the laser machines yet.
Thank you! I wanted to also make one from a birdhouse but ran out of time! Next time!
Such a spectacular spooky house!
Thank you very much!
Oh, yeah! That bracelet is EVERYTHING!!
Isn’t it? Thank you!
This is so stinking cute, Morena! Jason holding a turkey leg 😂That's a scream 😉 Great job! This is so much fun! TFS!! 🎃🎃🎃🎃
Thank you very much!!!
Absolutely love this 3D little spooky house. It is absolutely adorable and perfect project for springtime Halloween fun decor😊
Thank you very much!!! ❤️
New subscriber watching from the playlist. Your house turned out with just the right amount of not too creepy. I never would have thought to use fabric tape to hold on the door. Great job!
Thank you very much!!
This is so fun. My favorite holiday is Halloween 🎃 👻🦇💀 Thanks for sharing ‼️ ✌️💜😊
Welcome my fellow Halloween fan! I’m glad you like this project 😊
What a fun 3-D project! You make it seem so approachable!
Thank you for watching!
can you show us what these flowers look like from the back? We have a glass door so would show from interior of house.
I have the same issue. The pink one looks fine because the plastic wreath form is neat looking. With the white one I had to glue a circle of white poster board to the back to cover the t-shirt part.
I’m sorry, what?
Heat them to caramelize the sugar. It’s amazing!
These are so cute and whimsical! Great job, Morena! TFS!! 😊
Thank you! 😊
Voice too low
really cute!!
Thank you!
Make sure your kid is ok with the stuffed animal being cut open! Otherwise, you won't have a very happy kid ☹️
I’m following this to make my costume, lol it’s so fun and I hope it turns out like yours. I’m 53, and still love to party 😂
53 is young and you're never too old to party and dress up!
As for someone who sews and makes soft toys, I have some advice for making your toys weighted but making them so they're better quality: instead of using plastic bags and tape, I would use some old fabric (any will do) for making your pellet bags, sew them with close stitches, and put the pellets into the small rectangular beanbags you made before sewing them shut. this gives the toy a softer feel with less weird jagged edges like the corner of the plastic bags give, and it wont be so rattly because you're using actual soft fabrics instead of plastic bags. when you put them in the toy and you sew the toy shut, I highly suggest learning the ladder stitch, also known as the hidden stitch. the ladder stitch is made to hide the stitching and the seams of your item, so when you sew a toy shut, you wont get the odd bumpy look on the toy like we seen at the end of the video, as the ladder stitch gives it a beautiful finish. many plush makers like myself use the ladder stitch for closing holes in things like toys and cushions, it really makes a big difference. Hope that helps! /h /nbr
That is very helpful! Thank you!
@@Morenascorner No problem! I am glad I was able to help
Nice 👍
thank you!!
Awesome tutorial!!!!! Great job explaining all the steps!
Thanks so much!!
Great job! 💖💖
Thank you!!
when you're cutting / ripping the threads to open up the fabric, wouldn't it cut the threads so they pop out and open up the entire bottom side? Im kinda lost 😭
Hopefully that won't happen! Usually it takes a lot of pressure/pulling to open the whole thing up. Be sure to stitch beyond the area you opened so that it will stay closed when you're done! I hope that helps!
@@Morenascorner okay thanks so much!!!
Hi, what was the dimensions For the large truffle tree?
They were about 5 feet tall. You can cut the pool noodles to make them shorter.
Very cute!!! ❤❤❤
thank you!!
I'm traveling internationally with my autistic child. Does anyone have any experience taking a homemade weighted plush with them on trips and passing through customs? If it's rice instead of these pellets do you think it would be more passable? Just a worried mom trying to keep my child from having a meltdown in a stressful environment like customs at an airport 😓😓
I would use velcro so that customs can open and inspect it. When my daughter bought a weighted plush at Disney, airport security still opened it up and took out the weighted packet to inspect it. Even after it went through the xray. It would be traumatic for a child to see their plushie ripped open, which is why I am advising that you use velcro so they can open and inspect it without damaging it. I think the plastic pellets should be fine, since it's similar to what is used in neck pillows.
The heart Valloween box is beautiful and haunting. Love it. Hugs
