Wild Bearings Outdoors

Registrace 10. 05. 2020
Wild Bearings is a collection of goods and of course adventures Sam and Chris take fly fishing around the country. We hope you enjoy learning more about the sport of fly fishing. We do everything we can to teach, respect our waters and the areas we adventure to, and preserve. We've tossed many rocks in streams over the years working with Trout Unlimited and other programs to support cold water habitats. We also donate a percentage of proceeds to The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation to support areas along this national treasure. We also do our best to respect the fish we catch by using barbless hooks and always handling fish with care.

Man I'd give anything to see the hooch and fish for shoal bass before Lanier construction.
right! but you know there are still areas for that... we don't really do that, but you know it would be a blast...
Was up on the Holsten last month. Check out Tail waters lodge, nice place to stay.

Awesome! Thank you!
Looking for the surf rod bamboo maker
Is there any place to fish using baits of "power bait" sitting comfortably?
Yeah just below the weir dam you can sit and fish
two casts, two fish. Nice photograpy
Thanks 👍
China sells them for 100$ am they look good
Then I say go to China if that’s your gig
I'm in Nebo tonight headed into the Curtis Creek watershed early tomorrow as a result of this video. Looking for rainbow as my low hanging fruit, native brookie as the goal, and brownies as the bonus!!! Thanks for the insanely good guidance.
Have fun! Keep us posted
That's a great tip.
Glad it was helpful!
I wish I could justify buying one, I do have a deep sea bamboo rod I inherited. Truly a work of art.
The winery is beautiful. The restaurant serves really great food and the wines are very enjoyable.
It really is!
I tied a several of these up and they absolutely catch fish well. Thank you very much for this great little fish catcher!
Great to hear! Truly a go-to for me and easy to zip a few out quickly.
Awesome looking fly. I'm ordering the material now. Thank you!
Awesome, thank you!
I always get a kick out of the hat, im sure Smoky the Bear would like it back😂😅. Sorry but most of the time i forget wild bearings, I just refer to you as smoky, hey smoky has a new video on CZcams lets seat down and watch it. Always enjoy your content. Thanks for sharing
That's hilarious! Thanks for sharing that.
That tunnel structure is really impressive.
Just kind of blows your mind how and what they did back in the day. Appreciate the response.
Great video. Have to put it on the list of places to go fish.
Yes!
Bluey! If the van had gotten you there wouldn't have been nothing left except your smoky the Bear hat!
Amen that's the truth!
Howdy Doody!
I’ve caught trout in Lake Lanier.
Yeah they can exist if those ole stripers don't find them first... thanks for the feedback
We love to fish the TOCCOA in north ga...anything comparable for waders???
don't quite understand the question please rephrase and happy to answer if we can...
Watched on Waypoint last Friday!
Thank you!
Awesome hat Sam!
What beautiful scenery. Must be amazing to fish there!
"That bug would bite you!"
Awesome clip! It's own mini show.
Really looking forwards to your new season.
Nice instruction and info. More of these!
Tents are always a challenge! Great music....
The little short clips are fun! Will you be posting any longer clips or new shows? Those are really great to watch. Those are what got my attention.
Would be fun to see them driving through a river!
Have you guys ever fished Jacks River or The Taccoma River in North Georgia? Love your posts.
Great tie and video. Thank you!
Tne Tennessee River does not flow into the Gulf of Mexico. It flows south past Chattanooga, into Alabama, then turns north again, crosses Tennessee into Kentucky, and joins the Ohio River, which flows into the Mississippi.
Extremely helpful content. Thank you for putting this together.
There are no backcountry or trail closures at #47 any time of year. Every one of them is open 12 months of the year. Now some gates may be closed in the winter.
Looks like a great series. Can't wait to watch!
Awesome video
Are there native brook trout in stock creek and big lost cove creek?
You explain this well. Unfortunately - the supplier of your raw material now knows all your techniques ( developed over decades ) They have no loyalty to you. They will steal your ( freely given ) knowledge, and your Sales will diminish - because they can do it much cheaper ( and now, as capably ) in China. Why should a US fisherman pay $1500 for a rod made in US when they can buy an equally good one ( your knowledge, same materials ) for eg $479.99 ?
Things I like about your video is that your not stingy with showing roads and locations to fish. I’m also impressed that you show proven flies. Most of the fishing videos don’t show anything!
Moses Curtis was my fifth great grandfather
Wow that’s awesome to know thanks for sharing that with us!
Great presentation! I grew up in Old Fort and have fished these creeks my whole life. These fisheries led me to start my guide service. Hope to see you on the water one day.
We live in Swannanoa right now, and since moving to the area from upstate SC I have largely been fishing the Mills... and less so the Davidson, East Fork of the Pigeon and Curtis Creek here and there. We are moving to Old Fort right around Christmas/New Years, and I plan to get to know Curtis Creek a lot better! I'd also like to explore the Catawba, but need some info on access and spots where I can wade since I don't have a drift boat. Any tips on where some good spots on Curtis Creek might be would also be helpful - I have mainly stuck to the portion that is near the parking area just a couple miles off 70, and the trailhead area and just haven't had much luck. Also, you should plug your guide service! How can people get in touch with you?
@@wildbearings & @thecatawbaangler have either of you fished Mackey Creek on the Forest Service land?
love stories like this
Headed up this week. Between the fall foliage starting to kick in and the fishing I cant wait
Have a great trip!
@@wildbearings I am planning to. Being in FL, while the fish are plentiful, it is IMO boring as hell. I grew up fishing streams but have not cast a line in several years.
Did you end up catching anything?
@@gregjr63 I caught 1 nice keeper right off the batt and realized I forgot a stringer. Lol It happened so quick I figured I would let it go and get my stringer then catch more.. never had another bite lol
