The puffy dresses are a dream to watch :-)
I love the big puffy dresses from the 1960/1970s.
30:55 I am on the man, not trying to produce myself…. I am on the man’s frame and I am assisting him.
The Interviewers are very amateurish. Donnie and Gaynor were the best 💃
These interviewers are Greg Smith and John Kimmons, unless I’m much mistaken- two of the greats of ballroom.
32:15, it’s all about knowing your body and knowing how to make the beautiful actions.
31:30 Chasse from Whisk, I like the man driving the energy from the back and slightly back to allow the lady to swing forward. Don’t cut in lady’s path.
25:00 It’s ok to lower the arm for avoiding bumping into others.
16:00, Awareness of the activities in the spine is vital for a dancer.
6:00 Warm up and Loose the hip joints.
4:40 Pushing down to rise, Pushing up to lower.
27:30 Lady is assisting the man, not and never helping the man.
26:00, not just 1 picture, the body is designed to be free of many pictures in dancing.
22:00 The SPINE is on the BACK. Focus on the back of the spine, see how the 2 spines are working in harmony.
17:00 Lady’s head 10 o’clock guideline.
14:00, The Postural Spine, from the bra line to the big bone in-line with the shoulders. lady’s top line the head line is coming from the foot pressure, with the feeling of forward pressure up to the posture line.
11:00 Dancer body weight and stance is “slides toward” the ball of the foot.
10:00 2 shoulders are not always in the same vertical plan, they are alternately forward and backward as counter balancing.
8:00, Tailbone as the center for frontal and sway plan activities. 8:30, Above the Sacrum, Around the waist area is the center of rotation, and has the effect to the rest of the body.
Victor Sylvestor stated "Natural Movement"
Riccardo and Yulia are the NEW World Champs, whom have perfected all those moves from their Legend Teachers...Yulia is "naturally" beautiful and Riccardo another "natural" handsome Prince....I think they perfected all those moves and praise Donnie for all those lessons!!
INDEED.
A stage of History of ballroom championships. Highly appreciated.
I danced with my husband the first world championship for Seniors +35 in Perth in 1993. The day before we danced "The Fourth Australian Masters Games" a Japanese couple won, a German couple was 2nd and we (Belgium) were 3rd. But I don't have any footage of that. If someone has a video of that, I would love to see it.
Try asking on Ballroom Dancers Memory Lane page on Facebook. Many dancers from that time on the page. They posted up some 1970s c/ship only other day. Here is the link. m.facebook.com/groups/391642614187886?group_view_referrer=profile_browser
bravo~~~
Аристократы латины.
41 years of dance.
30:00, Center is the whole area between waistline and ribcage, including the back.
All Those years ago can remember having a private lesson with bob dale .. Always remember the ( hold A broom stick ) technique .. stop those shoulders from moving as much ... and rhumba .. when taking a back step don’t forget to do It like your pushing your finger in your belly Button ... those was the days ❤️❤️
They made each other, neither would ever have been anywhere near as fabulous without the other. They were Blessings for each other. So glad for them and all of us too. They will never be matched in beauty, musicality, technical skill... or Joy.
An Amazing Lady!
20:00, Mental partnering, we use every knowledge and experiences... for the partnering.
9:50, The Physical partnering system is not to afraid of "sharing body weight".
9:00, Move Forward, move weight first, Move Backward, move weight last.
8:00, Heavy, because of 2 instances: 1. I am not connected (in side of myself), and give body weight to partner. 2. Both are not connected, then give weight to partner.
Partnering in 3 levels, Physical, Mental, Emotional
31:00, It's all about understand your body, all about beautiful actions that make the beautiful silhouette and figures....
26:00, body is there to be used in many style, not stiffed in 1 style, but not to be abused either.
Loraine has a very unique sounding accent. Where is she from? X
She's British, but lived in America for a long time, her accent is a British one that has been Americanized. If you watch older videos of her she has a much more obviously British accent; check out this video czcams.com/video/qcRKV_xommo/video.html to see her original accent.
She was born in Dublin, Ireland. Strangely I find the Irish accent more clearly noticeable in this video than in the video cited ("her original accent").
1:30, A complete dancer is based on the correct technique(the technique book), and the understanding of our body(the body mechanics), put on the artistic, then becomes your personal style.
Be aware of your body and use it in the way to produce beautiful actions, including lower the arm Floorcraft reason...
31:00 I am on his frame, and assist him to do whatever he wanted to do....
21:00, man is the designer of the dance, lady helps the designer to do what he want to do. So the man needs to be very clear in leading himself in what his doing, and allow the lady to accomplish his leading.
26:00 The boundary of sway is balance.
2:00, The personalized style is created upon the body mechanic and the proven technique of the former champions.
3:00, Use the feet and floor, push away or pull in the floor. Feet must be relaxed in the shoes.
The tail bone is used in sway plan as well.
At 54:53, 1991 beautiful music, beautiful dancing ! George Wu. AIA, ARCHITECT, NCARB 2017-8-23
I have been watching 46:00 since 1993, every years. I was impressed by their dances very much. But Donnie is not willing to give away any of his secrets, like Marcus and Slavik did. I finally gave up to learn from his videos. George Wu, AIA, ARCHITECT, NCARB 2017-8-22
When Donnie finally taught lessons, he liked to jump around his ideas, and added a lot of small talks. Usually I could not get to learn any thing concrete, which reminds me of the Canadian Champion teacher Mr. Peter Petersen, who liked to stuff many many ideas in one lesson, so I got confused after the confusion on purpose. When I asked him to teach one feather at one time, He replied without smiling, " When I teach students how to dance, they don't come back. ". But my next teacher, Mr. Popov, the Russian Champion, taught me un-selfishly ! That is the difference ! George Wu, AIA, ARCHITECT, NCARB 2017-8-22
True artists are not afraid to loose the secrets. Usually they are very giving ! George Wu, AIA, ARCHITECT, NCARB 2017-8-22
There are no secrets in dance. There are only three possible scenarios in dance: 1. you have real talent and you work your routines 2. you have real talent but don't work your routines 3. you have no real talent but work your routines Donny and Gaynor were in group (1). Some people who dance are in group (2). But the most of the people who are in dance clubs are in group (3). They always seek some "secret knowledge" and "recipes", but don't have the "catch" in them, or, "the fire" that drives them forward, and gives them answers through hard work.
Ummm...he taught, and wonderfully so. One of his students is famous
Iconic dancers! Thank you for sharing this interview, Fredric! =)
Never matched. 💋
How informative. Always wondered about the mechanics so beautifully explained here.
