We visited Liverpool Cathedral probably one of the youngest Cathedrals in the UK. It was designed by architect Giles Gilbert Scot who designed the famous red telephone box of one of these red phone boxes can seen inside the Cathedral near the lift to the to the top top of the bell tower . Lived in Leigh for 50 years it's a crying shame its left to rot funding is not forthcoming for anything from Wigan
Good to know what’s down there at the mysterious end of Railway Road. Obviously most people just knock about round Bradshawgate and the market when they shuffle into Leigh. I do anyroad.

Back in early 70’s they had a disco in the crypt under St. Thomas Church. Such a shame to see the shambles it is now. I can’t remember the cinema but then again I’m not that old (66). Nice to see Georgian Court my family were one of the original owners in 1969. 18 Georgian court was ours. On t’other side of canal from us was a factory called Tattons. That chimney was Ward And Goldstones which I think made looms for cars. Thank you for the walk. That canal I rode my bike to Worsley on the canal path.

@@KuntaKinta-u8s you’re probably not old enough to remember how good Leigh used to be in the late 1990s. I’d go to the places like Edison’s aka Eagle and Child, Rubin’s sadly now gone

Maxine, my friend from Westleigh used to live on Church St lol..Robina Khan! You walked past her house....I think Rebecca Ward lives around there as well...well she used to anyway. Leigh hasn't changed!

Bamboo House is just up the road from me. I haven’t been there for yonks. Last time I went I got cheese and onion pie and chips 😀 And it has a food hygiene rating of just 1, you know.
We didn't know that, the owners are regulars where I work, they're so friendly and we wanted a Chinese from them lol

The rise was very tasty the kung po was excellent although it mild compared to the kung po that me and Maxine had at the Chinese restaurant in Manchester

I shared mine with my daughter, We've eaten Kung Poa before, and I found it too spicy, which is why we didn't share. This Kung Poa from Bamboo House wasn't that spicy , I had a forkfull! Thanks for your comment.
