Kynance Cove

A dive around Asparagus Island on the the Lizard, Cornwall. There is a tunnel which runs from the beach side of the island to the seaward side, the aim of the dive was to explore this and another known tunnel close to it. On entering the water I was greeted with crystal clear water, swimming a short way towards the tunnel the entrance was very obvious, the sand drops away in a bowl and the larg...
Hodge Close

Hodge Close January 2015 In the midst of the bad weather mid January I went for my first visit to Hodge Close. It was very windy and there had been a lot of rain in the days before. This contributed to the stained waters in the main part of the quarry, no natural light was present below about 10m, the vis was OK at about 5m but it was very gloomy. I descended from the entry point and swam aroun...

Sad :(
I've enjoyed a few swims in the lake, and often wondered what it's like to dive to Prid 2. Thanks for the video.
It can be much more spectacular with bigger lights, I should try and make another video as when the waters clear you can appreciate the size of it
@@blackcatunderwater1446 I carried bottles in for a few divers - Brian Johnson and others. Swam in the lake with a friend, both of us with mask and flippers. I dived under arch, surfaced. My friend followed and disappeared. It all went still. I honestly thought he was sinking down. After diving and searching a few times, I started to head for the arch and heard a muffled shout. Found him in a small bell chamber far left, treading water. There was literally a 1" air gap between bell and lake chamber!
To many cuts in the video annoying
I’m 11 and going to sump 1 tomorrow how long do I have to hold my breath for
Sorry for the delay in replying, did you enjoy your trip ?
@@blackcatunderwater1446 Yh it was great I done sump 1
Looks like had some fun in Vobster
Great video 👌 vis is fab for uk diving!! I got to visit this winter. Well done, good tune 😉
I used to inspect pipelines , my smallish stature meant I could get inside a 600mm pipe to look for failed welds and coatings, never worried or panicked, took bends, tight sections sleeved down for valves etc. .... Until one day I nearly drowned in a rock collector (sort of a sump found on hydroelectric pipes that allows debris to drop into it which can then be accessed from the outside to facilitate removal) ... I was head down in about a 1 metre of water, couldn’t get out or turn around - sheer paralysing panic! Almost at the end of my breath and scared beyond words I just about lifted myself up by my fingernails - I simply couldn’t go back into a pipeline or any tightly confined space again.. changed my career path three weeks after the incident. I occasionally “test” myself by watching caving videos - just out of curiosity- to see if my fear has eased... I thought I was improving until I saw your video - oh my gosh Swindon’s Sumps! - you are completely nuts.. and brave! Well done but I am so not cured of my water and tight spaces phobia....!*!
How did you get out?
Did this in 1973
Did the full circuit some 30 years ago.Suffered a major panic attack between sumps and needed some serious coaxing to carry on.Thought I was done for and don't mind admitting I was terrified 😰
What makes it so scary? That vid makes it look easy but it doesn’t show much of the underwater sections or how long you have to hold your breath. I’m also saying this from the comfort of my home having never done something like this. Just curious.
@@issimonete Think it was the fact that I was overthinking things.Theyre not just a couple of feet long and I was,and still am a totally inexperienced caver and panic just set in between sumps.Head completely went. if I remember rightly we bailed a couple out to lower the water level and create an air space and went through on our backs with just half our face above the water.Anyone confirm if I'm correct in saying that.
Nice video and pretty ballsy. I've never risked free diving sumps 2 and 3 as my diving friends have warned you can occasionally encounter foul air there.
Took Martyn Farr there for his book having been told about it.
Peter Glanvill it's thanks to Martyns book that I visited ! I dived it again this year in quite a swell so it was quite an experience being sloshed back and forwards a few metres with each wave with huge booms echoing in the air space above. Came across the seal again, not sure who was more afraid him or me as he made me jump !
did sump 2 a few months ago. don't think I'll be going any further, thanks!
Absolutely brilliant Max.
Incredible video! From someone who wets himself at sump one, I've got enormous respect for people who can do this.
Best video of prid 2 ive seen! If you or pete ever need a sherpa let me know
Away in NZ until January but you are both on.
Nice bit of film. If you ever want to go again I could bring my camera and lights as well. The shot I have always wanted to get is somebody coming through the arch into Prid 2 with the light streaming through preceding them. Are you Devon based?
I have forgotten who you are!
