The condoms in a military survival kit are not for sex and, therefore, are not lubricated. There's a surprising number of uses for the things, but the two biggest ones are holding water and protecting the muzzle of your weapon. Lubricant would be detrimental to both.

I never made it to basic myself (medical discharge, lame :p ), but I'm not talking completely out of my ass here ;) This is what I've heard from a couple soldiers and read on survival sites. May I ask how long you've been in?
Sintar07 lol i was general discharge to.... i wear glasses but never signed any paperwork for it... on graduation day my parents gave me my glasses and drill seargent saw me... said i didn't sign a waiver for me wearing glasses and that because i didn't sign that waiver the entire time i spent there was voided and i need to do basic again.... i basically said fuck that and went back home... im probably going back but now im training my body to get top marks and going to college to earn a higher rank. The first time i went it was straight from high school
