Thank you for the video. Nice explanation while you are doing things and quite clear to understand. Been trying to find guides but most are either too in depth or not enough information being too fast. Yours is spot on for new players to understand!

I got a trauma on Hercules. When I was a newbie on Naval Action, that ship sank my first Cerberus. I was a pirate in the Bahamas seeling cargo I stole. A Hercules (spanish I guess) attacked me, destroyed my fore and mainmast and then sank me.

Great leaving the bugs in because it shows new players how to deal with them.

I work with pilot trainers and I got one to show me how to start one of our planes up from totally shut down. It's quite a process, she asked if I wanted to learn how to land it and I told her no, I'd have hours to learn that while I'm in the air.

What i love about this game is how miserably you can fail at any point in the game. I spent ~60hours building this really nice base just to have it explode randomly

Brutalstart on Mars is not difficult if you focus on 1. Filtration of oxygen from ice crusher and fill up your gas canister, 2. bottlefiller for water, 3. very small greenhouse for growing potatoes. So you need one room 1x1 only for eating and drinking with a few pipes and one active vent, in which you pump the air whenever you need to rest. So very first step go mining, then build a furnace, make sure you have air and water and build a 2nd solar. Dont waste time, focus only on making a potatoe farm. Once you have air, water, food you can continue building up your base the unbrutal way. Because of storms just build solars inside your greenhouse. Once you have steel, plastic and glas you can start extending your overcrowded small greenhouse and after that its easy living. ProTipp: Build GPS card for your tablet to not get lost while mining

18:50 The stars above the burger icon in the Vitals panel of the HUD don't have anything to do with hygiene, they represent the quality of the food you've been eating. Higher quality food lets you drink more water so you don't have to drink as often. That's why you're drinking to 125%. Hygiene is not detailed anywhere on the HUD, as far as I'm aware, except when it gets moderately to severely bad. Then you get yellow or red warning icons in the upper right corner. Taking off your helmet and suit dramatically improves hygiene recovery rate. (Showering fully recovers it to a higher maximum, similar to going over 100% on max hydration.)

I needed two tries to make it out of early game with brutal start on mars. On the first try I ran out of breathable air.

I just open the helmet and drink real quick, close it and then open it again to eat real quick. If the game allows it, it's not cheating.

Usually, I build something called a DSTO aka dual stage to orbit vehicle, and usually the second stage helps a lot

I am doing a brutal normal run on Mars. I got my starter and greenhouse up. Starting to work on my permanent base. Tip for the initial start focus on mining at the beginning, TURN OFF your suit light, if lighting is needed road flares can supplement. For the first 10 game days I focused on getting manufacturing up and had steel by day 2 or 3. I used a 1 frame room and a manual hatch as my initial eat and drink room and just removed my suit after dumping my waste tank and dropping some oxite. Also you can print pipes in the autolathe I noticed a lot of people rushing to the pipe bender rather than the furnace or electronics printer so they could get pipes.

I've been doing a brutal normal run on Europa as a Zrilian. I almost died because I didn't get my greenhouse set up early enough although I was fortunate enough to get a trader selling food in time.

Thought you'd want to have a go at the brutal starts :D I'm doing a Mimas brutal run (normal difficulty) and having some fun with it - definitely (re)learning what to prioritise. Day 40 or so and I've managed to resist the temptation to build a solid fuel generator (still using the portable they give you to start with). I suspect I might have some previously un-diagnosed brain "issues"... ;)
