PIERRE WILLIAMS ART CERAMICS
"I have always had a natural ability working with my hands."
Starting my adult life I trained and worked as a Toolmaker and development engineer. This satisfied me for a while, but I was desperate to be more creative. I had always had a passion for art and this was always a primary focus for me since childhood and an urge to pursue it was not going away.
I taught myself how to paint with oils and made sculptures with metal and other materials, but I didn't know how to be an artist or how an artist should work, this kept me in a kind of limbo of producing some pieces, but not knowing what to do next. Eventually at the age of
thirty two I sold my house and enrolled on a Foundation course at Hereford college of Art, where I discovered I was interested in ceramics as I felt this gave me everything I wanted as regards form, colour and texture. This led onto a degree course at Cardiff where I honed the
skill of throwing on the potter's wheel and studying stoneware glazes.
As well as working at my studio I also ran the ceramic department at Hereford college of Art and then moving to teach at the Royal National College for the Blind. This work allowed me to develop a direct way of working with clay which came from constantly doing quick demos
for the students which is still active in my work today. I also gain an incredible amount of knowledge in this field during this time.

Very nice work. Your evolution as an artist is quite interesting. And I like that you also paint.
Most people do not like the life they have lived. Just Do.
Incredible body of work
I'm absolutely in love with his work! I too am an artist and his words hit home so hard. Being an artist is so stressful most times as time and money control one's ability to create. It's such a downward spiral sometimes and so humiliating. You live being unable to create but yearning to create. When you finally get to create this head space actually affects how you work! It seems impossible. I'm almost 60 and have lived within this unfulfilling struggle my whole life yet still create for my very survival. His little sculptures are so beautifully decorated that they leave me speechless! The paintings are another level. Just gorgeous!!! Please keep creating your original art work. If I had some money I would definitely invest in your work!!! You are bound to be successful. Your time is now darling. Enjoy. Your words and work have helped me too to find more inner grace. Thank you for being so honest and beautiful. It's made me different somehow today. Bless.
What an energy, force and talent ... already in his 20s. Can see where he gets his integrity and likeable personality - mudder...
Sometimes I travel by bicycle, Sometimes I travel by car, I've traveled by boat, Sometimes I travel by airplane, But the best way to travel is by book, You can go anywhere you like, If there's a destination you want, To go to and you can't see it, create it, write it, tell your story.
Whyte people clap like trained seals.
One minute he's slagging off Thatcher, the next he's saying he's anti-society just like her😂 what a clown
Bless, Bless..Benjamin Zephaniah,🕯1983.. nothing has changed even in .. 2023🌎"(Bombing & Greed! )"

Another fake Jamaican. You’re a Brum bruv. Drop the accent.
Such a loss. RIP Benjamin.
Thank you very much. Rest in Peace Benjamin Zephaniah. ❤🙏
Hi Joseph. I can confirm this was indeed shown on Channel 4 in 1983. I know cos I am in it a bit. Also, the soundtrack was made by Benjamin's band at the time, Benjamin played the bass, I played the guitar and piano and Pops played the drums on the soundtrack which was recorded at Theee Mad Professor's studio, which is why it sounds so good. I think it would be great if it was shown again on Channel 4 as a tribute to Benjamin. To me, this doc. catches him at his best! And it is a great piece of history which is still relevant to today. I think the media these days would be to scared to show it, also, especially the BBC, they just don't play political stuff like that anymore. He was on the Tom Robinson show in 2017 when 'Revolutionary Minds' came out; none of the tracks were played by TR and Benjamin's ideology was hardly touched on by TR. I played guitar on Benjamin's first LP Rasta and John Peel played 3 of the tracks on his evening show. Those were the days. Your dad did a great job with this doc, Rest In Power to both of them.
Thanks for sharing this documentary ...grew up in the same road in Aston Birmingham with Benjamin and his family... rest easy bro
anyone know the music at 5.50 mins?
Hi, the soundtrack was recorded by Benjamin's band at the time, in 1983, and was recorded and mixed by the Mad Professor no less! That's why it sounds so good. Benjamin played bass, I played guitar and piano and Pops played the drums.

His government rhythm is similar to the Kunta kinte rhythm
This came in at the right time along side of the punk movement and groups like the clash who was saying the same thing but in their own way. No jobs for the youth government ain't shit and abuse there power. The need for change.
RIP, What a loss, still so young
wow...rare gems
I'd never heard of him till recently when he passed away. Interesting man RIP
RIP Benjamin a true griot!
Very good presentation. Benjamin Zephaniah was talented, conscious, African.
Impossible to consider yourself good when you treat others bad. Self delusion is still a massive problem. Deep respect to those that stand up against it. Amazing snapshot of that time.

Rest In Poetry King.
RIP Benjamin Zephaniah - he showed a lot of white kids how difficult life was (and still is) for a lot of black kids through righteous anger and dub poetry - his life was his art and his passing is a huge loss. Respect to his family and all who loved him.
Huge Respect Brother.
Such a sad day, RIP
sad day . Benjamin would have been my last guess to die this early. Gonna miss the guy and how he would talk so much sense on Question Time.
RIP, big fella. :(
