Salve! There is one thing that would be really cool: if you would sing some Latin church song like Ave Maria, Ave Maris Stella or Laudate Dominum, BUT in classical Latin! Been wondering for a long time what that would sound like…
Well guys he said it, time to cancel
Why doe everything echo? I hear a male voice and on top of it echoied by a female voice?
Now I know what the Ides of March are.
How close do you think greek is to Spanish? I don’t know Spanish but apparently they are somewhat similar
Greek and Castillian Spanish have a similar pronunciation, but they're not very closely related to each other.
Thank you~ the car is my practice space with your book ~:-)
Fantastic! Keep up the good work; it’s worth it

Come to California theres a bunch of us Mexicans who speak Spanish and I guarantee that we will understand alot and some will be able to read whatever you want them to read😎🇲🇽🇪🇸🦅 Viva ROMA
As an Indonesian Catholic trying to learn Latin, I literally gasped. Multum tempus transit quam tu non habitas hic in Roma, certus? Hahahahaha
Hi! How do you pronounce double vowels in classical Latin? For example: cotidie or filii. Do you pronounce them regularly or do you have to use a glottal stop? I'm Italian so I wouldn't use it, but Duolingo is messing with my head. Thank you!
semper amamus te loquentem latine quoque audire et cum graeca quae dicta est. perge versus ediscere facereque has pelliculas!
Luke, love your stuff! About 7 years ago, I began to learn Latin prayers. My method appears to be the same as the two steps here, but a little different. First I learn to pronounce all words, then translate Latin to English. Then memorize. I say them every day and add a line or two in Latin and finish in English. As soon as the most recent added lines have been memorized, I add one or two more. This has been very effective. The key is to speak them daily. using this method, I have learned to easily attack a new set of prayers and when I read one with which I am not familiar, and since I know many words already(2000 to 2500), the texts are familiar and welcoming, but challenging enough to take them on and learn them.
You are doing a wonderful job Luke! Everything is wonderful! Except the lady who loves beans among the ancient foods. Apart from some similar species of Chinese origin already present in ancient times, the beans we know were imported into Europe guess from where? From America, after its discovery. Well after the Roman Empire and even after the Middle Ages.
Could anyone explain to me what "Dixtin" means in "Dixtin te esse Germanum"? Is it an abbrevation of "Dixisitine"?
It’s a verbal contraction for dīxistīne, “did you say?”
So Latin numbers, above 20, literally translate as "x and xx." Ex: "1 and 20," "2 and 40," or in this case "1 and 60." Maybe that's where German gets it from? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
English used to be like Latin and German in this regard. There is, in fact, a theory that this change of order occured as a result of French influence! though I won't vouch for it...
@@attilacaerbannog6068It's so out of character for the French to simplify a numbering system.
Ecce, hic etiam plus graeca pulchra narrata’st… quam tamen non intellego xD

Enhorabuena por el vídeo.
Sir please, please give me a pronunciation chart. I beg.
Ceasar making a short
Fantastic! ❤️
I find it harder to read fluently when using this system though. Perhaps it just takes practice, but it causes me to pay to much attention to the meter, which comes just naturally if the long and short vowels also have different qualities.
The fact that even across eons, separated by countless lifetimes, we can still understand the message of this song and feel it in our hearts. Humans have always been humans, and even though we will never meet the people responsible for this, we understand each other. We see each other.
Thank you!!
We really need the classical Latin version of this
If you mean pronunciation, it cannot work for this translation; it has to be in Ecclesiastical Pronunciation. If you mean writing style, Classical Latin and Ecclesiastical Latin are one in the same: czcams.com/video/RMKImmXLb3c/video.htmlsi=srGFpwzZIcj6WGaM
My Greek professor would love this
Nice for some reason I understood most of the text, although I don't what's that tuxtaxtuxtax part
Well done! That’s just the sound effect of slapping or hitting

Roman education is the best!
Its cool how it somethimes sounds russian then italian then french 🤔
Nice job again
Nice videos man
Thank you!
Dont memorize it, simply learn all the epithets and the meter and greek and then compose on the fly like was intended.
How is recall of earlier verses going? Do you repeat sets of lines?
I do, every day. It’s going well! I shall test myself for all 100 lines on July 26
...is Julius blind? He doesn't seem to know if someone is there or not when he is trying to talk to them at times, and Aemilia has to inform him they're not there... she also has to tell him where his staff is, even though it's right there on the table. If we weren't told that Medus took his money, I'd probably guess Julius just lost it due to his horrible eyesight.
niec very cool video
Merci 🤩 😊
Oh no, I missed that ἀνἱστάμενος has rough breathing on the iota.
?
@@EG-ry1dz I learned this line without the rough breathing on the iota in ἀνἱστάμενος.
It’s okay I think if the rough breathing isn’t there. Homeric Greek is one of the most artificial forms of literature even in Classical Athens: Ionic had lost the rough breathings by the time the Athenians got the text, but we understand that they restored them in their recitations. And while spoken Classical Attic likely retained internal aspiration, it would be the first place for aspiration to be lost. That said, don’t stress it! 💪
@@ScorpioMartianus Interesting, I think I'll still try to keep it. Just gotta pay attention. It seems it should be pretty intuitive once you know enough Greek. What do you mean by Homeric Greek being the most artificial form though?
do you plan to publish the entire recitation in a single audio/video at some point?
MAGNO!! MAGNO!! SALVE RVFVS LEGIONARIVS!!! You're my Hero 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🍷🍷🍷🍷
Est optimus!
Will you upload a complete kephalos challenge video once you recited every verse?
Yes, on the polyMATHY channel, as explained in the full video on this channel, for which see
I assumed it was just a piece of poetry, so I'm not sure where the melody comes from. Is it of your own invention to make the memorisation easier, perhaps?
The Iliad was actually originally sung. Ancient Greek had a pitch accent and although the melody is somewhat improvised, it follows the pitch of the language.
He simply follows the natural pitch accent of the language
See the full video posted in April about the Kephalos Method
"Forum Temporum" goes insanely hard
What woods are you in when you do these? Looks like a perfect relaxing spot to become one with the ancient Greek spirits. Awesome as always ❤
This is just my house. Thanks!
Fabulous! ❤️ it!! Now I just need to find the version of this for Ancient Greek...
