I have tried making this brush so many times but it doesn’t look like yours. I’ve also made your hard edge brush and it’s not the same. It doesn’t blend like yours does. Do you know where I could be going wrong?
@@zuli225 If You watched each step very carefully without skipping through anything, then You have edited it the right way. But , I am guessing that the problem is in the way You are using it. You need to control Your pressure, when using the brushes. Also, in each video I explained how I use these brushes, so everything should be as shown in the video. Also, are You using an Apple pencil? Because these brushes wont work without it. 😊

@@stephenfoster1100 Thank You very much! I have been experimenting with the brush settings for some time now , to receate the “blooming” effect digitally, but this specific effect is a bit more difficult to achieve! 😄 But I will definitely make a video about it, once I figure it out! 😊

I made sure to watch both part 1 and 2 before coming back to Part 1 to comment: I'm curious as to how you had yellow-orange color of the sunset with the dark clouds, since watercolor is usually from light to dark, from my basic understanding of traditional watercolor. Could you explain your process on how you work with layers when it comes to watercolor too? 😮

Now I have a clearer idea of what to talk about in my next watercolor video! 😄 Theres alot of thinking thats happening before even touching the pen to the screen, so that lets me work freely without worrying about layers and blending. This way of working comes from the traditional art, so I’ll make sure to talk about this! 😊
OMG! I just stumbled upon your channel when I was just about to go to sleep, and your watercolor video part 1 and this one is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I love creating digital watercolor paintings on the iPad, and since I have no experience with traditional watercolor, I often struggle with how to render with watercolor, especially background paintings (I'm also an animator and I love painting my background with watercolor, though I want to learn other mediums like digital gouache). So far, I've only been making recreations of traditionally painted watercolor artworks, but I don't feel entirely confident in making original background pieces. If possible, could you please make a longer video, going over how to render background paintings for artists with no traditional background. I'd appreciate it so so much! 😊 Again, thank you so much for these videos.❤

Hey! Thank You for watching this video! Since creating my previous video - MY DIGITAL WATERCOLOR Landscape TECHNIQUES - , I realized , that I do my figure and portrait drawings a bit differently, because they are more complicated and detailed, so I didn't want to ''Gate keep'' any information, and created this second video! Basically: 1. For very detailed and complicated parts, I try to separate them in layers. And once I have gotten over the complicated stages, I don't pay attention to it anymore and keep working freely. 2. I use the eraser to keep the edges clean, where necessary, but as You can see, I don't erase things completely, because I don't want it to look too ''clean''. 3. I use the smudge tool as explained in the TECHNIQUE video PT.1, but here I use it to make the color transitions smoother. Everything else stays the same as mentioned in the previous video ! 😊

Does it work if you don’t have an Apple Pencil? I did everything in this tutorial and it doesn’t exactly have that opaque look on the sides and it doesn’t exactly get less opaque the more I use it :(
I dont think there are much options for brush editing and usage if You are not drawing with an Apple Pencil. Apple Pencil lets You control the pressure, and thats how You can controll how much paint is being applied (the opacity). If You want to replicate traditional mediums in Procreate, You do need an Apple Pencil! 🙂

I don't know what I missed! Mine is so opaque and it doesn't look like water at all :(
I am guessing that You are adding alot of pressure to the pen right away, which is why Your brush strokes look opaque. As I mentioned in the video - just like with a real watercolor- You need to build up the paint in layers, and by lightly “blending” out the brush stroke, You will see how the paint is being pushed around the canvas. My suggestion is - If You followed every step of the video, You just need to patiently, without rushing, apply the “paint “ and pressure in layers. 😊
First one that really works! I’ve tried at least a dozen videos on how to create a watercolor brush and this is by far the closest I’ve come to the real deal! Thank you for sharing your technique!
