I just visited UTK and absolutely loved it. I didn’t even get a tour because it was a last minute visit, but students came up to me and were talking to me and telling me about the school. They were all SO sweet and I am really impressed with it. Thanks for making this video! Makes me excited to think about going there even though I will possibly be commuting.

hello! i recently started acutane like a day ago and i experienced vomiting, stomach pain, and nausea in the first night. did you ever experience anything like that along the way?

To anyone thinking of using Accutane: Accutane (isotretinoin) is a very serious medication that can cause severe permanent damaging health effects in some people. Most importantly, it's critical to note that these effects may not necessarily happen while on the medication but can actually appear shortly after discontinuing it (latent onset effects). Some people have used accutane at normal doses with professional monitoring from a dermatologist (including regular blood tests), yet months (or sometimes years) after stopping the last pill, they develop various serious chronic (and sometimes disabling!) illnesses. Here's Mary's story (she has been suffering with disabling Accutane effects for over a decade): @cO5c Here is Ro's story (her + all 3 children have permanently damaging effects from Accutane): @yAlQ The most common permanent side effects are: eye diseases, hair loss/baldness, migraines/brain damage, joint and musculoskeletal damage, dryness, sexual dysfunction, chronic pain/fatigue, organ damage (especially digestive), etc. One study (Goulden et al, 1992) found that about 7% of people suffer from permanent effects after using Accutane. These effects can take some time to onset. Our platform raises awareness of pharmaceutical injuries. Several people we have interviewed have been suffering with permanent disabilities or serious effects for years or even decades. Some people have to go on permanent disability after Accutane use, as the effects can be so serious that it may impair your ability to work or function normally. There are also some reports of people becoming wheelchair-bound at a young age due to the development of severe spinal/joint disease after Accutane use. We hope that this channel helps raise awareness of how dangerous certain pharmaceutical medications can be. Our goal is to provide another perspective to people so they can make an informed decision. It's absolutely shocking that today, in 2020, after all the thousands of lawsuits and hundreds of thousands of reports about serious issues like IBD, organ failure, sexual dysfunction, permanent hair loss, vision loss, infertility, musculoskeletal destruction and more that ANYONE would still use accutane. You would assume a dangerous drug like this would be long off the market, but sadly it is prescribed more and more. The younger generation is the most vain, superficial, and brainwashed generation yet, and doctors/pharmaceutical companies profit off of this. Why would you take such a horrific poison just for superficial blemishes? The effects of this drug can also start with a long latency period (months or years after you stop taking it) so you never know how it'll effect you in the future. One study found that 7.2% of people who take this drug develop permanent side effects (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1365-2133.1994.tb08524.x) and other studies have shown Accutane to cause brain damage (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3276716/).

I am going to tell you something your doctor may not have -- Accutane (as we all know it has "risks" and "side effects") works via the mechanism of damaging your body. It is not "IF" it damages you, it is more "when" or "how severely". The very mechanism of accutane is quite literally cell death (bodywide apoptosis). It is a chemotherapeutic drug. The cell death is not limited to sebaceous glands of the skin, but actually occurs everywhere, including stem cells which, once permanently damaged, do not replenish themselves - hence the permanent effects of acne clearance. This explains the "post-exposure delayed toxicity" that is seen with accutane and other chemotherapeutic drugs that also work through cytotoxic / stem-cell killing mechanisms. The permanent damage from this medication can happen after it is discontinued (months or years down the line) even without side effects or any warnings/abnormal blood results when you are taking it. Just be warned, this drug could seriously ruin your body (eyes, bones, joints, hair, teeth, spine, skin, brain, nerves, tendons, ligaments) for the rest of your life, and it can happen to you in the future, even if you're ok now....so once you've been exposed to this drug, you are never safe and you never know what will happen. This happened to me despite normal/mild side effects while taking the drug. The damage suddenly set in about 5 months after I stopped taking it. I took a 'low' dose, only 20mg/day. Everything was fine and dandy while I took the drug...I exercised, went to school, my blood labs were normal. Years later I still have such severe damage that I'm barely able to walk. In addition to bodywide apoptosis and stem cell death, accutane also creates permanent gene expression changes (in more than 500 genes), DNA oxidative damage, and direct oxidative damage to every tissue of your body. There are studies that prove that accutane causes downregulation (a change in genetic expression which decreases) of collagen (the literal framework/scaffolding of your body), elastin (keeps your skin resilient and stretchy), and hyalnuronic acid (the "water-holding molecule" that keeps your skin and joints youthful) - all CRITICAL proteins in ALL connective tissues that keep you looking and feeling youthful. So, quite literally, this drug AGES you. Accutane also downregulates telomerase, a protein which repairs damaged/broken DNA and is associated with biological youth. Have you ever noticed that someone who took accutane looks "older" or "less youthful"? These are the reasons why. Doctors consistently try to deny the existence of delayed post-exposure effects (they say that effects only happen while on the drug, not weeks/months/years after stopping the drug) but this has similarly happened to countless others (thousands) as well and isn't rare. Taking accutane is certainly a choice, but most people are not fully aware of how awful it is to everyone who takes it and what kind of risks you are truly taking for your future health. please let me know if you have any questions or if you have any advice for me! i'm so ready to have clear skin (: **EDIT: i have received a couple of comments from people trying to “educate” me on the dangers of accutane. if you are one of those, please stop. i am fully aware that accutane can be dangerous if not taken and monitored correctly, but rest assured i am taking it correctly and monitoring my side effects. my dermatologist recommended accutane to me two years ago but i didn’t feel ready at that time. since then, i have done tons of research and talked to my family physician as well as multiple family members who are nurses about accutane. all of these people knew my history with acne and that i had tried everything else so they saw no problem with it. unless you are a dermatologist, please stay out of comments with that.
