Hello! I am a classical music enthusiast and an amateur composer who compiles music videos as a hobby. All of my videos, are made by a small number of friends, and are uploaded for educational and non-commercial purposes only. I do not own any of the materials used in this channel, and I do not gain any profit from it. If you are a copyright holder and object to my use of your intellectual property, please, before you file a take-down notice, email me at msoupelin@gmail.com and I will manually take it down.
I may from time to time reupload old videos. This happens once I correct spelling mistakes, audio errors, etc. By all means, if you find an error, tell me so I may rectify it.
Lastly, I am also open to doing score videos of living composers. I cannot guarantee that your piece will be uploaded, but constantly sending me updates or new works can lead to one eventually ending up on my channel.

Bohuslav Martinů - Mazurka, H.284 (Koukl)
Mazurka, by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů, is a piece written in 1941 as a “Homage to Paderewski” in honor of the Polish politician and composer and to commemorate his death. It was intended to comprise an album of 17 works, commissioned by the publisher Boosey & Hawkes, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Paderewski’s debut at Carnegie Hall. The celebration quickly turned into a funerary tribute, as Paderewski died at the age of 80 before the publication of the album.
Overall, the Mazurka is around 2 minutes long, and uses textures that, at times, remove it somewhat from the Polish dance’s character and intent. The piece’s overall tonal center revolves around the note of B-flat, while using the typical 20th-century dissonances seen in Martinů’s works. The structure of the work is in ABA form, where the middle passage of steadily-cycling 16th notes is sandwiched within a languid dance theme.

First time have seen a Hamelin/Hyperion recording on CZcams... previously Hyperion restricted all his output. As for the recording, just incredible. Power, passion, precision, everything you could want. Best version I think, with Bernd Glemser a very close second, and then nobody close. Hamelin just edges this one, the sheer sonority of the climaxes unsurpassable... one of the best tracks on his complete Scriabin Sonatas, and that is saying something.

Quite an impressive and underrated piece of work
I know somebody who has a pet cat named Glissando.
Worth knowing is that his op 33 no 7 also sounds a lot like Scriabin’s 4th sonata, sometimes even outright copying the melody, so it seems he took a lot of inspiration from Scriabin (and for the better- these are beautiful)

The performer is extremely creative about the tempo, I don't see the slightest indication in the score that you need to play it "a la chopin" and almost come to a standstill in bar 7.
