70s was such an insanely golden time for music
SiriusXM brought me here. Still moved by this song.....❤
Angnst and unrequited love makes for quite the hit song. Heard this recently (after decades) on a rebroadcast of KASY KASEM'S radio show of AMERICAN TOP 40 countdown from the 1970's. Great song.
Funny how simple and brief this song is, but in my mind I could write a book about the deep love burning in his heart like a torch, the flame inside of him kept him alive, and night after night he followed his heart wrenching routine in the dying hope that just maybe, she might be nearby, come to her senses, and look for him. She'd see the light which he couldn't take a chance on being off if she were to surely come by someday, he couldn't risk missing the opportunity of being with her for good. She'd see it and take it as an open invitation to stop by, realize how much they loved each other and fall in love too . Then at long last, together, forever. But the fire slowly dying in him was a dream, never to be. The fact that she didn't know that he loved her, or didn't care made it all the more tragic. He had to hold on to one last ember of the love he had grown accustomed to living with that remained in his heart, but left smoldering ashes in his broken soul. Two years waiting in vain he faces the inevitable. With all his strength he says to the wind "This is it, truly the last time I'll tell you how I feel. But goodbye my love, Youll never know how much I love you." And she never did.......
Wow!

beautiful song, also enjoyed the close your eyes. kind of complemented each other as I saw it and still see it. I could be wrong, but feels like they fit. Brings back memories. Thanks Carlo D.
This sad, sappy, simple, catchy little tune seems to haunt my memory causing me to return periodically again and again. It has become an iconic tune....Thanks....

I started to play this song when my dad came down from his room and he started to dance and sing this song, everyone was young and had that special song. I guess this was his.
