You could be right. This tape had no date on and it was an educated guess. But I am pretty sure that this set was recorded at his apartment. So maybe it was even early 1991 ... Cheers, mate! 🍻

Word-up! He is a real good dj and works hard behind the decks. But I think he neverv actually played real hard techno in his life, at least not what I would consider as hard techno. I heard him playing countless times in my life over the last 33 years. Greetings from Berlin, mate! 🍻

@@PlanetBerlin1991 I move to berlin when rich/magda/troy moved there so i know all of them well. I'm curious what you consider to be a hard techno set? sent me an example of what you are referring to. Now to be clear though i don't count soulless hard techno sets at 150bpm as music... That said rob hood and jeff mills play sets at 140bpm+ ( so does rich ) but there it's got soul to it. There is a percussion or bassline that speaks directly to your soul. I've also been in the techno scene for more than 30 years and know almost all of the good minimal techno producers personally, i have been to thousands of after parties with them and i used to host them in nyc. When rich gets drunk and also ricardo, i usually just leave because they will plays hard as nails techno but boring as hell because they are too messed up. btw i left berlin in 2005 or so but by far the best parties were by guido and angela - the thew the beatstreet parties. are they still doing those? they are always on a sunday afternoon in a different spot ever week. Best parties. I also was there when my friends sammy and zip used to be residents at berghaim but we never used to get there before 9am...

@@mikemaldanado6015 @mikemaldanado6015 Exactly, there was always soul in the sets and had a still a positive vibe. And because of this I wouldn't consider them as really hard. Maybe we just have different categories but we actually mean the same. No, the Beatstreet parties are gone. I am a member of the Berlin club scene from the acid house times starting in 1988 and experienced the start of techno im 1990 first hand. So, we have a lot in common. I know most of the DJs from the early days personally and many of them a real friends until today. From the end of the 90s on I wasn't partying so intense anymore. I liked Ostgut a lot and the early Berghain too. But I was just going clubbing everyonce a while. But since 2016 I am going out a bit more again but not as heavy as in the early 90s. We have a good senior raver crowd here in Berlin, which ties in well with the younger ravers. And it's great to see how Berlin has recovered from this at the end quite boring minimal sound. @@PlanetBerlin1991Wow and i thought i was the oldest clubber still listening to techno. My start was the early rave scene in NYC. |I got into it in the 1990.I thought you were from the UK? I know one guy from the UK that has been in berlin for 30 years and he co-produced one the first techno records with using vocals I believe. Sorry i cannot remember the details but since he had a pivotal role in techno, he gets paid a monthly stipen from the government. How cool is that. I also went to Ostgut and thought it was a lot better than bergnaim. I met the minus crew when they all moved to nyc and instantly became friends with magda. I helped her get a lot of her early gigs in nyc since she was still not widely known and i knew all of the club owner and promoters. Then she started playing my after parties ( for free ) ... one of them made the paper. It was a new years party i had that started at 6am new years day and went to midnight. The police came, the fire dept came, everyone trying to get me to lower the music but i worked my magic. Anyway she suggested i go to berlin and check out the scene and called sammy who was also resident there at the time to take cae of me. But that's how i got to meet and become friends with a lot of the label owners producers. I am glad to hear berlin is doing well.When i left in the late 2000's the vibe was going down hill. I actually went there to produce, and about 6months in troy started to play some of my tracks ( the nicest person in the world ) and sammy was there once an he asked me to do a record with him. Also bennoo heard my track and invited me and troy to make an lp for him but unfortunately i lost my way, got too into the scene, and never followed through. I used to work on wall st and have no music bg so when i was asked by people i greatly admired to work with them i felt "imposter syndrome" :( A missed opportunity for sure. But now i am in colombia, there is a great techno scene here. A lot of it is the hard stuff, which i can take for a few hours but then i lose interest. Like marco carola. But there is also a cool minimal scene here. It's like being in nyc when limelight opened and techno became a thing. That is where it is in colombia so it;'s like reliving it all over again. nice chatting to you.

@@mikemaldanado6015 I worked for a German-American company between 1996 and 2003. I was going back and forward between Berlin and NYC, later Miami. I partied in Limelight too. Was a great club and location. Very special! But my favourite club in NYC was the Vinyl. Great atmosphere. Through my friend, Duane Harden, I got in touch with Armand Van Helden and Little Louie Vega. We had a lot of fun, was such a nice time an experience. A cousin of mine lives in Columbus but I never have been there. All the best from Berlin, mate! 😊

Und das ist immer noch einer der besten Clubs der Stadt! Ist beeindruckend, wie der Laden es schafft seit 33 Jahren die Essenz des Technos zu repräsentieren. Tatsächlich ist die zweite Location auch richtig geil. Gerade mit fortgeschrittenem Alter schätzt man die vielen Sitzgelegenheiten ...

Da stimme ich dir voll zu der beste Club, den ich live erlebt habe. Die Location muss ich unbedingt mal besuchen.
