The advertisement on the old tram brought back some fond memories - I used to love sauntering around the stalls at Pricebusters, with my parents.

I went to Blackpool in 1985 with 3 mates. None of the bouncers would let us in the nightclubs apart from one called the Time Gap Bar. The problem was, it was full of lads who couldn't get in the other clubs. There were no women in it lol. Even the guest houses wouldn't let us stay. Luckily one of the lads knew a landlady because he'd stayed at her B&B before. It was £5 each per night.

Many a great weekend with the lads in the late 70's early 80's. Didn't always come back with the same number that went 😜🤣

Sad state of affairs. As a kid growing up in the '70s, I remember when the street was thriving. The town even had its own newspaper with the office at the bottom of the High Street. Unfortunately over time, different factors such as the the flyover system, the Tyne and Wear Metro, and the Metrocentre all diverted trade away from Gateshead town centre.

I worked at 29 Mosley Street for a few years as a manager of Avco Trust, a consumer finance business later taken over by Citibank - I never knew that Mosley Street was the first street in the world to be lit by electrical incandescent bulbs -there should be a plaque or something to commemorate that. Thanks for the info.
