    One needs to understand the basics of electricity, just cause that battery does not blow up, doesn't mean your theory is all valid. Increased voltage heats up the plates inside and reduces its life. I agree, fancy chargers does all this automatically for you and I so far did not have a single battery charger fail on me. 12v battery can take up to 14.4V, depends on number of cells in the battery and give it the max current. the battery will decide how much current it needs, based on the total plates resistance - A simple Ohms law. To re-vitalize the battery, set the voltage to 0 and current to max, then start increasing the voltage until you want the battery to see taking in certain amount of current. It all depends on the resistance at the terminals that the bench power supply is seeing - Cheers!.

    • @ForTheManDIY
      @ForTheManDIY Před dnem

      When one understands electricity one knows that voltage does not provide work, such as heating the battery plates. Instead resultant current flow is what does work including heating of the battery plates. The limited time excessive voltage only helps to pierce the plate sulfation in order to re-establish the desired current flow to chemically turn the water (low ph) back into acid (high ph) which occurs as the battery charges. Limiting the long term charge current is what protects the battery from what you state as "blowing up". Hope this helps your understanding. As you touched upon, the battery plate resistance is a factor in determining charge and discharge currents. Hope this helps.

    My 2019 PCX ran out of gas a couple weeks ago, but after filling it up about half way now it won't start, not even acts like it wants to start, it just keeps turning over. Even though it only has 500 miles on it, I wonder if the fuel filter is the problem or if the fuel pump burned out? I can hear the pump when turning it on but don't know if it's actually pumping gas.

    hello, i have the 60hz version of this generator and have been watching the videos, yes complicated and what is more complicated is the installation done on my sceptre 41 sail boat. i do not want to pull it for repair. my problem is that i have a dead ground on my batt charge winding. my thought is that i do not need the charge winding and my my question is.....can i operate this generator without the charge winding, i.e. cut the black wire from the 30A fuse and start the generator from my charged house batts wich are connected through an isolator switch. please help, i have already spent to much time and money on this gen set. thanks john ......ps very good videos!!

    • @ForTheManDIY
      @ForTheManDIY Před 2 měsíci

      That short in the battery charge circuit is most likely due to a shorted battery charge voltage regulator which is not fused between the battery charge windings and the regulator, at least not on my generator. This is a disastrous design mistake. You must disconnect the charge windings from the battery voltage regulator! My first videos show where these windings connect. If you are lucky, the battery charge short did not melt primary voltage windings and cause them to also short (this was my case). It all depends upon how hot the battery charge windings got. So disconnect the battery charge windings from the battery voltage regulator and see if it works. You can always use a cheap external battery charger that runs off the generator output voltage to charge your batteries.

    • @ForTheManDIY
      @ForTheManDIY Před 2 měsíci

      In your case, I would remove the end cover of the generator (not the engine end) and remove and tape all five wires connected to the voltage regulator. It looks like an aluminum finned item with five spade connectors along its edge, and the edge is on the left-hand side with that end cover removed. Good luck.

    • @johnhugus
      @johnhugus Před 2 měsíci

      @ForTheManDIY hello, thanks for the reply! I could not get the short to go away unless I cut the wire from the 30A fuse to the charge windings, when I did that I could start the generator from the panel but the generator would not come up to speed and would shut down on low voltage. The no rpm is confusing because this has a mechanical governor 🎉not related to any electrical I believe....while running it was smoking from the electric end as well, I might have more problems than I thought! But originally what happened was I started the generator and by the time I got out to check for water it shut down, everything no power to panel so traced problem to burnt fuse and short was due to the charge winding wire (black), I did try checking the regulator as per manual but my fluke does not measure less than 1 ohm but it still did not seem shorted.....I hope I don't bore you with all this but believe me all help is appreciated hrs were about 2250 with lots of previous problems like a failed mixer which blew salt water all over. If I could get this going without pulling it, it would be worth some trouble otherwise if I pulled it I might as well buy a new one at over$8k, thanks for anymore input you guys have. John

    Excellent instruction to do both workarounds. But this weekend I found a new way to bypass the seat switch. I removed my seat cushion to put a seat cover on. To remove the seat bottom cushion, look underneath the seat cushion towards the front of the seat. There are two T25 torx screws. Remove them. The seat bottom cushion will slide forward and come off. Underneath the cushion there is a piece of tin with the seat switch contractor exposed. It is spring loaded so it pops up when you take your weight off of the seat. Conveniently, there are two holes that you can use zip ties to tie the spring loaded piece down to keep the contacts permanently closed. Takes five to ten minutes to do this. Take care, Mike

    Here is a working idea for extreme cold weather and vehicle batteries. The battery looses capacity when it is very cold. A neat trick my Dad showed me was to turn on the headlights for about 3-5 minutes, and then start the vehicle. This current draw will warm the battery enough to regain much of its cranking capacity, yet will not discharge the battery in any meaningful way. In a dual battery system (such as diesel pickup - double this time). You will be surprised how well it works.

      14.4 V or higher is recommended by most battery manufacturers, alternators pump out up to 15.5V A flat, healthy battery will easily accept 10A constant current during bulk charging. Then, at constant voltage, the amperage will slowly decrease during the absorption stage. Most batteries die from under charging, not over.

    People need to be aware that there are aftermarket multi position "performance" timing sets for the big Ford on the market where their zero is in the 8 degree retard position. Also, the cam is "straight up" not when the dots are lined up but when the intake and exhaust centerlines are the same number of degrees. This conveniently is the same number as the lobe separation(measured in cam degrees) ground into your cam. Nice job on your video.

  • @NCSTRIPER
    @NCSTRIPER Před 9 měsíci

    I understand your explanation about the motor running wide open for 45 minutes causing the armature to overheat. What size wire is running from your trolling motor batteries to your trolling motor? You should be running 6 gauge wire from your batteries to your trolling motor. Tracker typically runs 8 gauge wires from the batteries to the trolling motor. Too small of a wire can cause the wiring, and the motor, to overheat without necessarily kicking out the circuit breaker. I had a similar instance with my boat when the outboard engine lost oil pressure. I had to go all the way back to the ramp on my trolling motor at full speed which took over 30 minutes, and I never had any issues with my trolling motor. I was running 6 gauge wire, Terrova 101 36V, and a 60 amp circuit breaker. Just something to think about that may have contributed to your issue.

    Just a quick note to anyone watching this with an older 2810. The seat switch doesn't need any resistor, just bridge the wires. As told to me by a respected kioti dealer and I've done it, and it's fine. The neutral switch on mine is just 2 wires coming out of the block nr the lever on the engine itself. I've bridged them and can now start it in gear, get off it in gear and most importantly use my tractor even though the lever has snapped 😊 thanks for the video buddy it showed me what I needed to know

  • @VenturaIT

    I still don't get why mortar is required? Is that by code? I saw another video where they did a different "dry stack" method where they used no mortar at all and no surface bonding cement and filled every cell with concrete, but I think they live where codes don't exist, unrestricted land. So is the mortar required by code? You can easily just stack all heights of blocks without worrying about little height differences and then grind or add concrete or blocks to make it even on the last row or where you have windows or doors.

    • @Nathanael_Grant
      @Nathanael_Grant Před 4 měsíci

      The purpose of the mortar surrounding each block is to provide a sort of cushion for the blocks so that makes it harder to damage them, the mortar keeps the blocks in place and strengthen each section so that the overall strength of the wall is higher and it is more secure as a structure. If you don't have mortar-surrounded blocks or bricks you don't have a strong wall, then it can easily fall down relative to a mortared block wall construction.

    • @VenturaIT
      @VenturaIT Před 4 měsíci

      @@Nathanael_Grant That's not true. The HadrianX brick laying robot uses no mortar and instead uses glue that is stronger than mortar... it can lay brick and build the walls of entire structures automatically that are stronger... the reason mortar is used is to keep the wall level, the mortar is the weak point in the wall... dry stack block walls without mortar and without glue are stronger than mortar walls... like I said mortar is used to level up the wall as you go up and was first used with stones so you could apply a mortar bed below the first level of stones and a mortar bed at the top and get a flat final row... also mortar is weaker than the stones and the bricks/blocks so if the wall settles or breaks the mortar breaks instead of the blocks and the mortar can be easily repaired... where as if a solid concrete wall settles the wall will crack and be more difficult or impossible to repair... so there are many reasons mortar is used, but it's not to make it stronger since mortar is weaker than block/brick or stones... non mortared walls with glue or with a surface bonding cement are stronger than mortared walls... to do non mortared walls it's recommended to use a higher grade finished bricks or blocks that are checked for uneven surfaces or defects that the mortar would normally hide... check out the HadrianX block laying robot...
