YOUNG VOICES OF THE PHILIPPINES

To achieve the goals and objectives of the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines (TCAP), the Young Voices of the Philippines, composed of children from different communities around the Philippines, was formed. Conducted and trained by Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan and Jude B. Roldan, these children were selected from choirs under their choral program.
Children in the choir are given musicianship training and opportunities to perform invaluable repertoire, sing in church services and promote Philippine music. The choir is also committed to premiere works by Filipino composers.

The Psalms is the staple of my prayers and I have a set of favorites hymns based on the most notable Psalms. For Psalm 23, for sometime now, my favorites is "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" by Henry Baker with a contemporary rendition of the traditional lyrics. Then there are the various renditions of this most beloved Psalm set to the Responsorial Psalm tones for English masses most notably those by Joseph Gelineau and Marty Haugen. In all languages, aspiring and established hymn composers have given a shot at a musical setting of Psalm 23. Now this composition by Father Michael Joncas is going to be a staple in this time of the pandemic and a classic on Psalm 23 for ages to come. So I have switched my favorite Psalm 23 hymn from that of Baker to this by Joncas, "Shelter Me."
