Lakeland has grown sooo much in the last 20 years it's unbelievable. Mostly for the better.Always wanted to go to a First Friday downtown, just haven't made it yet. But we will. The big draw of Punta Gorda are the boat canals. Several neighborhoods of Punta Gorda have streets in front of the houses and boat canals behind the houses. The majority of these canals are deep enough for sailboats with no bridges or locks to the open Harbor.

I swore the population was above 20k. It's a big place for only 14k people. A basketball stadium holds more people. Grew up there. A lot to like about the place. A lot to dislike about it too. I don't know if it's still this way, but back then the law enforcement and judicial system was horrendous. Police infringing your rights, public defenders best friends with the district attorney. Pretty sure if you was a defendant with a court appointed attorney in McPherson back then. There was a very good chance the Judge the DA and your attorney went and played golf together after they shafted you. And then the Judge retires, DA becomes the judge, Public defender becomes the DA, and one of their family members becomes the new public defender.

Tourists earlier usually avoided Port St. Joe because of the smell of the large Paper Mill there which closed in 1998 and finally demolished in 2003.The Town then reinvented itself into a more artist,tourist and retiree type of community.

You might want to check out Wewahitchka Florida nearby,the home of Tupelo Honey and the Golden Globe award winning Movie"Ulees Gold" 1997 starring Peter Fonda as a beekeeper and it was Jessica Biel's first movie.

The tiled fountain is actually part of the original artesian wells drilled in town in 1905. Artesian wells were important to the town for drinking water and to fight fires and provided a more reliable water source than cisterns. This well was originally a concrete watering trough on Taylor Street intersection with Marion. It was moved to this location when the street was widen in 1919.

You missed the refreshed Coke sign on the opera buildings wall from coke's earliest days. It not only refreshes but wakes you up. Coke hasn't claimed that since they switched to caffeine. (Went to the college for a year there).

Prior to Hurricane Charley on August 13, 2004, there was a shopping center on the 2-block long by 1-block wide lot between Northbound US 41 (Tamiami Trail) and Taylor Street, and between Marion Avenue and Harborside Drive. It was one large parcel, but in recent years, Retta Esplanade was extended to connect Taylor Street to Northbound US 41 (Tamiami Trail), thus two separate lots now. It was an older shopping center, so it was demolished rather than repaired after the hurricane. The property has changed hands multiple times, but no developer has yet to present a plan that meets the city's standards.

That blank space in Downtown Punta Gorda used to be a hotel back in the day.

Spent many of my childhood days exploring River St. and The Ravine Gardens. Climbing the old tree at the court house and riding in the elevator was a big thrill for my little brother and me. We attended Campbell Elementary and Palatka South - Home of the Braves!

Nice Video of Punta Gorda,if you're ever at the Florida Panhandle you might someday want to check out the charming town of Wewahitchka on the Forgotten Coast of Florida which is the home of the Dead Lakes,Tupelo Honey and the filming location of the 1997 movie Ulee's Gold starring Peter Fonda as a beekeeper and Jessica Biel in her first movie and it also won a Golden Globe award. Wewahicthka is also close to the coastal towns of Mexico Beach,Port St. Joe Apalachicola and Carrabelle,interesting snd charming in themselves. Check it out!

Ocala is NOT the horse capital of the world. Florida, yes, but if you want to visit the horse capital of the world please visit central Kentucky.

As a Frostproof citizen i just want to say a couple things. 1) It is indeed pronounced Ramon as described/corrected the second time lol. 2) If you know what to look for there are some real gems in the downtown area and outskirts of fp including boutiques and restaurants. 3) If you are a runner/jogger/walker there is a large community of runners in Frostproof. There is generally always someone out and about getting their steps in. The high school aged runners are also pretty serious. 4) I think you guys did a great job on this video. You touched on some very good spots and your photos and videos had the best day to show off. Sunshine and gentle community are what makes up the heart of frostproof❤Peace and love folks! 👋

Crystal River is a super charming town .High Springs Florida to north outside of Gainesville is charming also.

Hopefully,someday you might be able to visit Fernandina Beach a little up north

Palatka is a charming town,kind of an undiscovered gem and homes are much more affordable than in pricey St.Augustine plus the beaches not that far away.Palatka slso has a nice waterfront on the St. Johns River .

I have passed the turn off of 27 for Frostproof about 10 times. My friend is touting a place to a fellow from Wisconsin as a sure bargain in a Frostproof all age park. Snowbird place. My wife would never go for this but I agree someone who likes to fish might love it.
