We stumbled across this place today looking for the Madley car boot sale just down the road from there, lots of vehicles parked up.
hope you made it to the carboot sale, its a good one.
There are a number of contractors about the country who specialise in de-commissioning blue light vehicles and processing them for sale.
When police vehicles go for sale , ALL the dayglow is removed and the addon bits took off . These vehicles may have done 100,000 miles plus , but very well maintained for safety .
Brilliant crowd of very brave guys. I cannot see what this prat is trying to do, ought to go get a peoper job.

MOD plod are just B&Q security guards , when i was serving we took no notice of them .

Police vehicles don't need to have a proper MOT, but they must be kept up to MOT standards by the force workshop with appropriate records kept. And you might find a lot of the unmarked cars are a pretty basic spec, if they were for general use as CID pool cars and not traffic or ARV.
where is this if they sell end of life patrol vehicles. id love a police van... i have owned my 2012 renault trafic for 6 years now got 181.000 on the clock would go for same van with less milligae so can change the engine over or take good bits of my van and put on same model.....at times thought of going for dispatch size van but do like the renault ...

I can see a lot of BMW police cars I bet there for the engine malfunction the police don't use BMW anymore they use Toyota Peugeot and ford and Volvo
Firearms and traffic still occasionally use BMW because they're powerful and have presence. The X5 is great for firearms because they can easily carry around multiple tooled up officers and are quick to get in and out of. We've moved on from the 1990s where a basic spec Metro was expected to chase down 40 RA.

Stellantis have their own Special Vehicle Operations Department at their Luton factory which converts the vehicles Stellantis make into blue light vehicles and can decommission them at the end of their service life and have them auctioned.

The police don't usually remove their equipment, usually they subcontract the work to specialist subcontractors to do this. Same with VOSA and the HATO vehicles, specialist companies decommission the vehicles

Some years ago all the gear would've been taken out by the authorities own staff. But as with all public services nowadays work goes out to large private companies. No doubt the owners of those companies have made a generous donation to the appropriate political party.
