Last game at the Montreal Forum - Maurice Rocket Richard ovation

Last game at the Montreal Forum - Maurice Rocket Richard ovation
He is the Pope.
Every human being wanted to be like him 🗣️
It is sad and a loss to English Canada that are unable to celebrate this man as a Canadian Hockey Icon. They claim only Gordie Howe of that era. But French Canadians hockey roots are deeper as we recognize and celebrate two hockey icons of that era. What this man means to French Canadians he also means the same to all Canadians, they sadly don’t know it. “Le Rocket”
Awesome player, awesome man…THANK YOU FIR THE MANY GREAT MEMORIES ROCKET!
one of the great lines....when a certain NHL goalie was asked what the scariest thing was to be as a NHL goalie without hesitation he said...facing Rocket Richard on a breakaway...like a train coming out of a tunnel
Notre idole monsieur maurice richard le rocket 4 ever
The greatest period
Im a 43 yo man bprn and raised in Toronto, Ontario. I never watched Maurice Richard play but his story, his life, his legacy...... this is a true Legend. This was an incredible moment
That Mario Tremblay. ruined the clip by his presence
I can still remember the moment when after 4-5 minutes of thunderous applause, mixed in with the emotional Maurice ,but it went on! For 7 minutes! It could have went longer had the announcer not started talking, even so he struggled to be heard as fans kept on, and it was one of the best and heartfelt moments in The Canadians history!
How many times did you hear “madames et messieurs”. The best ovation in the history of sports. 😢
He is the greatest ever final the rocket
Toronto here - when I was a little boy, I was at an event with my dad and Maurice Richard was there. My dad sent me over to get his autograph - I had no idea who he was but of course I did what my dad said. I think my dad wanted his autograph but was afraid to ask. I got the autograph, and it's something I still remember to this day. Maybe I was 7 or 8 years old - almost 69 now.
Bienvenue le rho ça met bien
More Than 60 years after is past Seasons 1960 m'y son of 13 years know about the Rocket!!!! Legend still live !!!!
Hockey royalty
Maurice Richard was a Canadian ICON! It doesn't matter what team your a fan of. This right here is respecting the greatness of the man as a player and person. Brings the toughest of the toughest men to tears.
I can understand why Richard was reduced to tears ……we all were . God Bless Rocket . Good bless.
Now the forum is a dolorama
I'm as true blue a Leafs fan as I can be. When Montreal played their last game at the Gardens. Mr. Richard came to drop the puck. We knew he was sick. That this might be his last time in Toronto. I don't know if we stood for seven minutes. But it was the longest ovation I ever participated in. Nor was there a dry eye including my own in the house. What a man. What a night. What a great game. God bless the guy that invented it.

And then there was Gary Bettman who had zero inkling as to why the NHL became a successful major sport in North America and Europe. This man single handedly carried the burden and aspirations of French Canadiens and his suspension by Clarence Campbell and subsequent riot in Montréal marked the unofficial start of Québec's Quiet Revolution.
Montreal just isn't the same without the old Forum. R.I.P Maurice

That lady in tears at the end was pretty much all of us that night.

A great city of great hockey fans saluting one of the greatest ever to play. Magnificent.
Best ovation ever!!
If, by some stretch of ignorance he had no idea how much he was loved and appreciated, I am so glad he had no doubt before he died. Hockey Legend. RIP.

- Final game at the Forum On March 11, 1996, the Canadiens played their last game at the Montreal Forum, defeating the Dallas Stars 4-1 on a Monday night. The game was televised on TSN and TQS in Canada, and on ESPN in the United States. After the game, many previous hockey greats were presented to the crowd. The largest ovation of the night was left at the end for legendary Canadiens star Maurice "Rocket" Richard, at over 16 minutes in length. Wikipedia, 95-96 Canadiens season. You can add the 16 minutes to your list too, hah!
Richard and Orr, the greatest reactions by hockey fans ever
I didn’t understand it was in French, but I heard the applause awesome
Amazing
I was very fortunate to have met him, gave me an autograph such a nice person
If you ever needed proof no organization can love you like the Habs, here's proof. This is beyond even other O6 teams. Montreal beats them all in terms of passion easily
