Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your off and injuries. Erm that's a very good question/ speed. Now when I first started out I was more for easy gravel trails and taking in the scenes. Your question leads to many factors which is ability,eye sight and how sharp you are. Meaning 20 year old will react quicker than a 50 year old. Also another one is if you tall or short as if your going slow and loose your balance then a tall person can pretty easily put his feet down and stop no dramas. So to summerise, how old are you and how fare can you comfortability see up the track,have you got a magic ball knowing how deep the rutts are and have you got skills to loft your bike etc. But even with all this the best and greatest riders in the world have offs and seriously hurt themselves. For me now once I'm recovered I love technical stuff so this is where I will be at if it's doable and as fare as speed goes. Just back to basics and enjoy the ride. Bit long winded I know but honestly feel very passionate about the whole subject of safety etc now I could go on for ever.

@@ishymoto3179 I've said on film before that it's really beneficial having a map infront of you,more so on unfamiliar roads,giving us an idea on what's coming up. Since pretty much all actual sat nav units seem to be hopeless,but In the near future i plan to use my old phone as a sat nav,by creating a hot spot on my phone in my jacket pocket,so safer riding all round in theory! ✌️ Anyhow you rest up & get as much sleep as possible...It alone is a great healer! 🙂👍

P.S. I already got an Inreach SE, but will buy a Mini and keep on my body together with the cell, which resides in my jacket pocket at all times. I also at all times do ATGATT- even doing short local trips. I learned my lessons when I tailgated a Passat after a tiring work shift back in 2009. I had full body armour and sadly not knee braces, and escaped with torn ACL ligaments in left knee. Period. Not a scratch elsewhere. The last 15 years I have always ridden with my prescription CTI knee braces. They’ve saved my bacon many times when doing less serious falls off-road. I learned the hard way 😊

@@ishymoto3179 hi yes I’ll look you up and follow you on there as well great to see a bit of off roading I have always followed mx because I had a cousin who rode against Dave Thorpe in his day and got to know Dave quite well I don’t go now much maybe British championships when at my local track blaxhall Pits in Suffolk I love mx oh and the ktm’s are great bikes I’ve had 3 adventure’s 1 1190 and 2x 1290 adv s’s I’ve just traded last one in for brand new triumph rocket 3gt I still want the power and torque but not the height of the adventure bikes triumph has just had 600 mile service anyway I’ve gone on a bit enjoy your riding but ride safe and take care

Well I still own the 1290 and 790. They are both awesome bikes. To be fair your decision needs to depend on what you want from the bike and how you expect to use it and you ability. For arguments sake the 790/890 is a very easy bike to ride over hard terrain and will inspire confidence with the low centre of gravity and it's light enough to pick up if you drop. The 1290 is just a animal but a fussy cat at the same time. Well balanced and again easy to ride but yeas you do notice the weight difference on hard terrain or boggy ground and yes you can pick it up but again depends how strong and energetic your feeling. Now with the bmw I know it won't do aswell as the 890 off road but it will do it and the biggest compromise would be the ground clearance and then going onto the rd it's a peace. So my summary is if you can only afford 1 bike is 890 if your a hard core off reader 1290 for distance and European trips and off rd like the act stuff If your not really into doing massive amounts of miles and just want a solid good all rounder then the bmw. Also just remember building quality and customer service/back up is fare superior on the bmw Hope this helps

@@ishymoto3179 thank you so much for the detailed response. Of course you are right and it depends of what I really want. I am coming from a KTM RC8R but I want to go more into the adventure game. So actually I am a KTM fan boy but the 890 does Not please me well, although I know it is the most capable offroader. Actually I am searching for a "eierlegende wollmilchsau" we call in Germany 🤣 which can be translated with "all in one solution". So should be capable of doing single ride off-road but also comfy long distance riding with pillion. I don't know if this makes sense at all but I can't afford a third bike as I am trying to keep my KTM 🤣✌️ have a good one!

Yes mate, as mentioned my other half has a 850 but it's only for touring and yes it's a totally different animal with the 850 feeling very top heavy

Thanks Neil, yeah the rear tyre size could be a issue, but weight wise I think it's how a bike feels and distributes the weight and I could believehow light it felt. The t7 is only a best seller due to the engine/simplicity and price. And is for me boring to ride on the rd. Aprilia are let down by the lack of dealers world wide and time waiting on parts but as the bike goes it's a very capable bike on and off rd. The ktm is always going to be the one you sit on the fence with as there a love hate thing. I love them and they do everything perfectly 👌 but then if you want customer service and a manufacturer to give a shot then orange isn't for you. Think I'll just buy one each and have done with it 😂
