Do the lights turn off automatically when you leave the car or do you have to manually shut them off?
Difference between these and OEM?
Similar construction, but Tesla only sells as a set of two (fronts), as opposed to all four.
That's not a install video stupid
just remove the emblem and call it a day. we know it's a rivian.
Great video but would have been better in the night time
Thanks. Agreed, will try to get some nighttime photos, unfortunately I was on a bit of a tight timeline, as I had to get the loaner back to Tesla!
@@AbstractOcean all good brother .. my suggestion would like to see more videos if you can on set up on infotainment and ambient light set up
Just to update you on this video, Followed your guide and made it easy to install, but my model 3 2022 and installed mine June 2024 and the new kits are being shipped out with everything as one piece including the wiring. So everything up to the front rear seats and tucking the wire underneath the carpet gap is fine, but then you need a T45 male star headed socket to remove both bolts on seat runners to feed the cable under into a loose area, replace bolts back and fully tighten just making sure the cable is not caught anywhere. Feed the wire around the runners to the rear console and continue as per your video. Why they are being shipped out this way I don’t know, but I think there are now version 2 but looks the same as yours.
How about showing it at night? Otherwise, it is accent lighting
Love this, but I installed a refrigerator into that back left compartment, and it uses that same outlet. So there’s no place left for me to plug it in. Oh well. Love the idea though.
does the refrigerator take a lot of the teslas battery?
@@jatuur4082 No, it uses surprisingly little.
Hi. I am looking to get a set for my soon to be 2024 Model 3. I have read and looked at no less than a dozen Amazon and YT reviews. With all of these products, I am a bit concerned that the rear panels come into contact with the car paint and can vibrate and leave nasty scratches. It looks like the front pair is flush on the inner sidewall, but not the rear panels. I know some say to use a strip of ppf or double sided tape, but I’d rather not have to do that if I can find a set for the rear that doesn’t “wrap around. Any comments? Thanks!
It's not an issue we've ever had reported, having sold many thousands of them, but we have for sure had customers put a bit of tape, PPF, VHB etc between the mudflap and the paint to help protect things. We switch out accessories all the time on our Tesla's to test things, and have never noticed an issue, but it's also rare we hold on to a car for more than a couple of years.
Mine is a lease so I need to be a bit careful. Can you recommend a tap that might be ok to use on the paint?
@@JNGold Just return with the mudflaps installed, or even if you don't, Tesla really don't care on lease returns. In terms of the tape, even something like electrical tap will do, but if you want to buy something, either a small piece of PPF or foam tape, something like this (weather stripping) will do the job: amzn.to/4bS6jy6
Who makes them?
Can’t find the app to control. It’s called just LED? In the apple App Store? Do you have to pay for it?
It's free, there's a QR code that will link you on the controller module, or visit our help page for the links: help.abstractocean.com/en-US/full-color-animated-dash-led-light-strip-for-tesla-model-3y-325734
WOuld you mind post a link for the "pigtails" thank you!
Sure! abstractocean.com/products/extension-cables
I bought it and unfortunately I can’t return it as I’ve had it too long. I won’t be installing this, looks terrible.
Do you have white for a 2024 model y?
Thanks for the video. Look like I’ll skip on this accessory unless they improve it one day
1st😁
ridiculous, i'm not considering doing this let alone thinking about it after this install debacle, its a truck, I'll use it different vs show, my shizzle will be dirty
No warranty Will be broken?
No. It's just a USB device (power only) as far as the car is concerned.
Can you please make a version of the center console light strip that goes around the whole center console and not just the sides of it?
I'm afraid not. I mention why in the video, the turn radius at the top is too tight for the micro-LED strips that we're using. The older fiberoptic 'light-pipes' will get around there, but we don't sell those, as I don't think they look particularly good.
Hi. These rimsavers will last sticked on one year at least? Thanks
For sure, much longer than that. We have very limited stock at the moment though, more coming soon.
Another beautiful product, Pete!
Hi! What floor mats are you using?
They're ours, abstractocean.com/products/floormats-for-r1t
Hi, the kit looks great. Does it work with right hand drive model y and if not, why not? Hope it does because I want it.
It does, just the USB hub (Cyber hub) will not, as the glove box on RHD cars is reversed (of course), but also a different shape.
@@AbstractOcean Thanks for the reply. I have already got your puddle lights and footwell lights. Delighted with them. Just two final questions before I place my order with you for the ambient dash lights. Can I plug straight into the Usb port in the glovebox without using the cyberhub If i decide not to use sentry mode? Secondly if I do decide to use sentry mode can I just get an extender cable for the Glovebox usb port and simply plug in the hub that way and leave it loose in the glovebox. I could tape it down or something like that to secure it. I'm not worried if it isn't neat in the glovebox. Thanks, Greg
@@gregoh5470 Yes to all of that, we've had a few customers in the UK do that, and glove boxes are the equivalent of a junk drawer in the kitchen, not meant to be neat! You might already have a USB hub lying around somewhere too; the lights are not fussy, but the sentry recordings tend to be a bit picky, but extending the hub that they ship with will be fine, just be sure to use a USB-A 3.0 extender to maximize the data throughput. Also, just FYI, they're on pre-order at the moment, we expect more stock to arrive on Apr 29th, so everything will ship next week.
@@AbstractOcean Excellent thanks for the reply again. I've just placed my pre-order. Greg ,Ireland.
Would be better if one could actually order it😊, getting a page not found on the link provided
Hmm, both the links are right, they're working. Not sure what was up at the time, but either way, all good now.
Pete, a great install and the final product really does look good! Thanks for the demonstration.
Will the heat and air condition make the light over heat or moisture? Thanks really love it and want to buy
Nope, no issues, no matter how hot or cold you like it :-)
Im from canada. Just found out you guys today. I will order from uou guys to give a try. I like you said you pay what you get.
None of the three bolts adjacent to the switch on my January 2020 Model 3 went to ground. The solution was to join the ground wire to the Tesla's black wire that went to the existing light.
do u have a link?
Opps, sorry. It's here: abstractocean.com/products/multifunction-armrest-cover-refreshed-model-s-x
@@AbstractOcean do you have one flat without the grooves and stitches on the top?
@@babouin1977 Not currently for S/X...sorry.
@@AbstractOcean ok . thanks for replying.
Ive been looking for a nice seemless solution to an ambient light strip. This looks perfect! One quick question for you.... Ive heard the USB hub that the kit comes with, doesnt play nicely with the Samsung T7 SSD... have you heard or done testing with that? TIA
This should fit a 2023 model 3, yes ?
No, you'll need this version: abstractocean.com/products/m3-sill-protectors-trunk-frunk-protectors
Does changing the puddle light impact the window bases on what I have seen on reddit?
No. We cover what happens, and why, in our FAQ here, but TLDR, not an issue at all, if the bulb is designed properly. help.abstractocean.com/en-US/ultra-bright-led-puddle-lights-for-all-models-105626
Looks like some grip tape
Basically, yeah. So far it's holding up ok, but it's not worth it.
What did I just see…?
wtf a bumper protector? does that even make sense? you may want to buy those rubber tire protectors too. or windshield wiper cleaners.
I guess the theory is you'll use the rear bumper as a step, so it'll protect/provide a non-slip surface, but in reality, it's lame, and doesn't seem like it'll last, but we'll see...
Is there an option where it also include a strip for the center console? If not can you daisy chain the movement sensor?
We have a center console version here: abstractocean.com/products/full-color-animated-center-console-led-light-strip-for-tesla-model-3-y It's not daisy-changed, it's stand alone, with its own sensor.
Tesla should be very embarrassed by your video because this item is crap!
Is there something covering the phone charger?
There is, it's part of this set: abstractocean.com/products/silicone-bumpers-and-charging-pad-for-tesla-model-3-y?variant=42818832531629
🙄 *promo sm*
In past Teslas, changing the door light causes issues with window not going down. How do you prevent that? It's a documented issue
7:35
Not the case for the Refreshed 3. Even in the 'classic' 3, it wasn't an issue really, just something to note; the ground for the door ran through the light, so the window would drop when a bulb was removed, and reset when a new bulb installed.
Thank you sir!
does this tray work on model Y 2018 center console style?
No, you'll need abstractocean.com/products/m3y-center-console-tray
When will you have this back in stock?

I purchased this swivel screen mount. The instructions video was fantastic-damn-tastic. The realistic truth that was revealed to me rather quick. I’m 80 years old and I’m not 20 no more, I didn’t flex as i used to. When did that happen??? I started to purchase another brand but i chose this one from Abstract Ocean for price and the build quality. After i completed the installation i was completely satisfied with the functionality of the swivel screen, there are not enough words i could possibly find to exposes my satisfaction…..now for the charging phone mount. If you’re thinking of installing one don’t believe the Ottor Box phone case will work, “It Don’t” in instructions even warns that some cases don’t work…Sp, armed with a proper phone case i can now say my Abstract Ocean products are the best that money can buy….I’m not at all finished adding Abstract Products to my car….Thanks For the great products..
If I'm anything to go by, it happens around 50, and progressively gets worse :-)
Nice job. However, I think gloss B pillars look better when the front windows are tinted. Blends all the windows together instead of the harsh divider
I already have a charger plugged in to that socket. Can you recommend a splitter I can use to plug this in at the same time? Thanks.
Btw unrelated comment. I would love a white version of the armrest cover you have in the car on this vid. I know you have a white version, but it’s flat and doesn’t have that design, which is really what I’d like. I have a white fake leather quilted version right now. That is OK and it is very Comfortable. I have a feeling the quality of your product is better though and the underside doesn’t cover up the inside of the armrest which I love. My current one renders my little stash box with door inside the armrest lid useless. So I guess this is more of a request from a fan of your brand and a existing customer that man if you could make a white version that’s just like that black one with the cool rib design on top I would be all over that.
Checking...we will have a 'flat' white one in stock in a couple of weeks, but the geometric design has become hard to get hold of. Getting the color to match the seats has always been the real issue with these things, you'd think white is white, but far from it! abstractocean.com/products/protective-armrest-cover-for-refreshed-model-3
I got your dash strip and love it. Looks like this uses the same app? I assume there’s no way to sync the dash strip up with the center consul strip other than going in and manually creating a setting. That’s the same on both of them I guess.
Right, same app (for now....😉), but they're independent. Pros and cons to both approaches, but we figured having separate control was overall the better option. Being able to 'join' them in the app, or at least toggle between them without disconnecting/connecting would be nice though.
