My career as a full time freelance auto journalist for car magazines (6,000 plus magazine articles and 20 books) centers around my three columns, called "Rare Finds," (barn finds) that I began writing monthly since 1991 in 5 different magazines (Hot Rod Mustang, followed by Mustang Monthly), Vette, Muscle Car Review, Mopar Muscle, and most recently Hot Rod Magazine.. I've written over 800 barn find stories, and now dozens on CZcams. I encourage viewers to email or call me with leads on car discoveries. I travel in the United States and internationally. If a person owns a barn find, I can help them find a buyer and get their car appraised at its true value for a sale. See how I do this in my latest videos, such as the 1967 Shelby GT-400 barn find in Iowa. My email is jerryheasley@gmail.com and number is 806-236-3681.

Great videos!!! Love seeing the process
This is so wholesome. Good bless y'all.❤️
PURE GENIUS
I would love to have those discarded spray guns
Warum kann man das ganze nicht in deutsch schreiben? Kann leider kein Englisch!
Ich übersetze für Sie in deutsche Untertitel. Es wird nicht lange dauern. Gib mir 5-10 Minuten.
Awesome job Jason! Looking forward to the rest of the assembly.
This guy TOTALLY understands what he is doing ! When can he do my Bright Red 1972 Ranchero GT with Silver Stripes & matte black hood graphics ? He really cares & it shows in the finished product. SWEET !
Educational to follow thank you
That's awesome to see color on this Shelby, what a great series this is
Fantastic work!
I would never use the DP epoxy primer as a sealer, that's why PPG makes a sealer.
first of all, only 65 and 66 were truly a Shelby. Second, why are you insisting on everything being factory correct and concourse, yet using the wrong paint for a concourse restoration? do it right, or don't do it at all.
watch the video to hear many explanations why we chose a modern paint over single stage
Same Car From Gone In 60 Seconds Movie?
How much would a paint job like this cost?
What’s the timeline for the restoration? It seems like it’s gone by fast on CZcams
Timeline?
@@thewriter2549 how long has he been restoring the Shelby? From start date to the current video, How much time has passed?
@@thewriter2549 to further clarify, it seems you always hear of restorations of this magnitude taking years to complete where this one seems to be a few months.
What do I think now? I think Jason knows what he is doing.
Looks amazing!!! I can't wait to see the finished product and hear it run.
I cant even imagine how much something like this would cost. I bet it will be beautiful when finished
I thought you are suppose to wait 30 days after epoxy priming to allow all the primer to shrink.....before you spray the final red color and clear coat.
Ppg dp epoxy primer is cure in 7 day the car was primed in K38 cured for one month block sanded then apply sealer for scratch filling and adhesive purpose let dry for 15-30 mins depending on temp then apply base coat there is a urethane base sealer that will help on shrinkage but in my experience has doesn't work as good as the epoxy sealer
Looking real good. Same base and clear I used on my car except it's Mineral Grey.
Jerry. Man you beat the process to death on this one. Even asking the dude to call you on the phone to fill-in the details in the post-edit. So much repetition in the commentary. It was difficult to watch. Just let the man make magic.
Single stage urethane has every bit the gloss, DOI, and durability of base/clear. In fact, single paint is clear with pigment in it and is activated with the same hardeners as clear. The most obvious preference of BC over SS is when the color is metallic or there are stripes that you want to bury in clear, which is not how they were originally. Single stage paint is what was used originally and will show color when wiped with a cloth with compound, just as it would have originally. And making them the way they were, not the way we wish they were is the whole point.
Why would want wipe it have color come off MCA no longer judges that or takes points off for clear coat paint and I have done few cars in urethane single stage still use lot single stage on inside of cars far trunk area and underside for overspray deff not same gloss only about 50% as clear also in no way will single stage buff out good at all half let cure least month for even half way buff out that's the PPG MTK line clear sand and buff like butter in 5 days look amazing single stage just sucks why no one uses it
@jasonwhite6254 If you can't get modern single stage paint, where it's impossible to distinguish from base/clear, it's the Indian, not the arrow.
One main reason I dont use single stage is I'm certified ppg shop and offer lifetime warranty on paint PPG dont sand behind there single stage for warntee only clear coat
@@jasonwhite6254 I used ppg 20 years ago. Then my mom got a job.
@@bigblocklawyerahh ok that why started using single stage your mom did all clear and base paint jobs
I could listen to Jerry dissecting a Rat, Velvet Voice!
Base coat does not wipe off with soap and water. It's solvent based.
I mean.... a Shelby With an automatic? Thats a question cuz I dont know, But I doubt it. As a car guy I can tell somebody worked hard to have them a Shelby back before Shelbys were 6 million dollars and so they have a lot of cool parts on there and cool pictures and stuff. But now is it for money or love of Shelbys?
Looks absolutely amazing. Thank you, Jerry. Can't wait to see a video in the future of you driving the car and doing a burnout. 😂😂 Seeing the car complete will be awesome.
I think it’s getting harder and harder to stay patient waiting for the next video. What a car you have there Mr. Heasley
I'm not going make a comment on the colour until I see it out in the sunshine. I like it but I want to see if I love it
attention to detail is second to none
Verry very nice
Thanks Again Jerry, Been waiting again for progress, and here it is!
The knowledge you have about that mustang is amazing. I know it doesn't come overnight, It's from years of experience.
How close is the red used to the '67 ford red? Did jason try to match it as close as possible or was it juiced for a more modern look?
Color is a exact match ppg paint code 71528 DBC factory code T
I remember when Drew Alcazar was the man When I went to see him at is “shop”, I realized he farmed everything out
Awesome another great upload… looking forward to seeing you guys this weekend.
How did you find out where we would be?
I've been waiting for what seemed an eternity for this next episode, the color looks fabulous, love it! Great video as per usual.
👍Purrrrrrrfection!
Ok. I think I've got it all down. Now, let me go do some barn find hunting as, easy peasy, new classic.
Oohhhboy you're back I've been waiting.
Enjoyed ever episode Not a ford fan but have become a Jason & Jerry fan for sure. Thanks for sharing Now let’s get that engine fired up!
Yay!!I have loved following the progress on this.
Yyyaaayy new episode, been so been wanting a new episode, these are amazing
Cars of that era were not so flawlessly painted. Cousin had a. 66. In blue and the passenger side fender kept flaking dealer repainted three times til they replaced fender. Found out workers wood before paint sabotage finishes with solvent so much that dealers look bad😊
Wood or would? Wood? Too funny. Wood like a tree. That is a good one. Such is the education of people today.
Nice work Jason. What is the brand/ name of the self leveling seam sealer thst was used?
SEM part number 39387 or heavy build 39777
@@jasonwhite6254 Thanks Jason
Hope they didn't toss the dpeed parts and other stuff just to get rid of it
Why do you keep showing the same video over and over.
Ya Boy!
They were very bummed it wasnt a $100k car. Bob would have tried to snake it for nothing if it was, like he did the yellow boss they showed early in the video.
How would you like to go to work every day and truly just be doing what you love..? What an artist. Can’t imagine what the resto bill will be, but worth every penny.
This is Soo fabulous! I love that car❤❤❤❤❤
