You might also want to research into the Chinese settlers of Borneo. They don't share the same history as those of Chinese Malayans. The Chinese came to Sarawak in at least 2 main waves ... the first wave around 1700 to work in Brunei ..... at that time Brunei occupied the whole northern coast of Borneo. From about 1720 onwards, Chinese emigration to Borneo increased at the encouragement of the Sultanates of Sambas, Memperwah and Pontianak. The second wave, and more specifically to Sarawak, was encouraged by the White Rajah, Raja James Brooke and his successors.

Abundant natural resources. 5. Birth rate is high compared to many other countries. 6. Geopolitical advantages: located in the middle of SEA so good for trading. 7. The nature: it has a bunch of pristine beaches, jungles and mountains.

A very biased account! Of course Singapore tries to attract rich people to invest here. All countries to. But these ultra rich people live in a sphere which is separate from where most citizens live. Citizens here are supported by the govt in their day to day life in a time of high inflation by the govt. Yes a cohort of unscrupulous dishonest Chinese has managed to exploit the situation but they have been brought to account Life for the majority of Singsporeans goes on as usual. Which country has citizens who do not complain of cost of living nowadays ? The PM is elected on a democratic basis every 4 years. You had best expand your energy on examining what is wrong with your own countries. Singaporeans are quite happy as we are!

No politician will have a will to change the system based on meritocracy. Policy should be based on needs. Not all Chinese are rich and not all Malays are poor. Malay in general may think that they by having this policy, they are protected and somehow feel superior as original people of the land. However what they didn't realize is that the same way they discriminate non-Malay, they the Chinese & Indian will discriminate them in the private sector as some sort of "revenge" because bulk of Malaysian wealth is control by them especially in the big city like KL, Klang Valley in general where many of Malay from rural state come to find job opportunities. At the end, no one wins, the one who are loss is the Malaysia as a country. The Chinese & Indian is an survival race, they will find way to survive everywhere they go. The best way forward is to overhaul the whole system and focus on "people who are in needs and qualified". Only then Malaysia can achieve its full potential.
