Yeah, I just wish I could show up & support our new coach. Not sure about this new kinda defense but college football has changed so much maybe it will work. But idk, that new coach does need to realize that the SEC is a huge frickin gauntlet for any Alabama football team. It's NOT the Pacific Northwest by any means. He did have a good program at Washington. But look at what Saban did his second year after losing to Louisiana Monroe the year before. And that stupid punt return by Prince Miller my God the referees had to have gotten paid at halftime or something! There was 2 holds & a block in the back on that punt return. And being in the corner of the field like that Bama still should have gotten the tackle. And then at the end the punter didn't even try to push him outta bounds. But seeing the replay of that after the game I bet Saban went on a rampage!!! Against the referees & his players. I know he told his players "no matter whether you think there is a penalty or not, you gotta make the play & get the runner on the ground. That's what I loved about our kicker the last 3-4 years, he could make an open field tackle & look like a linebacker doing it!!! And this whole game for Georgia was being led by Matthew Stafford. But then they lose the SEC Championship to Tim Tebow & the Gators after an undefeated regular season. And that is what makes the 2009 Season so great! Another undefeated regular season & then not only beating Florida but barely even letting them score in the second half. They got a TD right after halftime & never scored again. And then Colt McCoy goes down early in the Championship Game and it isn't really that close after that. Texas had a couple of sparks but that was it. And Bama vs Georgia this year with the new coach is going to be a huge game. He gets to go against Kirby Smart, a man that studied Nick Saban & was taught a lot by Saban. He was the DC so long at Alabama that I think it really hurt Nick when he left. And then every year he was having almost a whole new staff & players not being able to start right away were hitting the Transfer Portal. And so he was having to get new guys from the Portal all the time as well. And players wanting NIL money before they even contribute anything on the field. To be honest I'm surprised Saban stayed at Alabama as long as he did. Cuz you could see the change in his mentality. He could have kept being a constant hard ass & probably won a few more Natties but he settled back & tried to let the players dictate what they accomplished. And to be the great coach that he was he lost that razor sharp edge that gave him the will to push the players into working together hard enough to weld them into the team they needed to be to beat everyone else. And lots of times during the Championship Games it was better to roll the dice with plays the other team had NEVER seen Bama run all year. Like the 2 TD's to OJ Howard. And the trick onside kick. And rolling the dice in the second half of the Championship Game to let Tua throw the ball cuz Jalen was just having a bad night was epic. And to be honest, Devonta Smith catching that walk off touchdown for Tua was Tua & Sabans saving grace. Cuz if Bama had NOT won that game, there would have always been the question that had Hurts NOT been replaced would Bama have won? And to be honest I think Jalen Hurts would have not only won the game but he would have done it in the 4th quarter instead of overtime. But hey, Now on Feb 26 ALABAMA FANS CAN CELEBRATE Alabama's 2018 National Championship Walkoff Touchdown against the Georgia Bulldogs. And who would know that in 2020 they would play an ALL-SEC Undefeated Regular Season, win the SEC Championship & National Championship and Devonta Smith would win the Heisman Trophy with 2 other teammates Mac Jones & Najee Harris being in the running along with Trevor Lawrence running a close second it's truly an amazing award for a receiver to win such an award against 2 really great quarterbacks! And to be honest Mac Jones & Najee Harris both imho played almost flawless football the whole year. And for them to play & win 11 SEC games that was a major testament to the greatness of that team cuz such an SEC schedule had never existed before & will probably never happen again! And also, 2009 & 2020 were the only 2 years that Nick Saban led the Alabama Team to an undefeated season. I think Bryant did it 3 times in his first 7 years. I think, not positive on that. But if it hadn't been for all the negative press about desegregation, Bama would have had a Natty in 1966 with Kenny Stabler under center.
