There are multiple hawaiiki & it can differ depending on who your asking & what set of islands theyre from..With our culture everything is TIME BASED So depending on the measurement of time you are talking about matters here because our tribal arrivals were different to Aotearoa. The tupuna ingoa you speak of will define the PERIOD TIME you are referring to😊 Raiatea or Rangiatea as we say was our Spiritual Portal, it is believed when we jump at Rerenga Wairua to " Rarohenga " the wairua will exit at Mount Temehani Raiatea as a " Apetahi Tiare " a beautiful but endangered flower only found there thats steeped in historical love legends. 2ndly There is lots of evidence, undeniable & relevant, pointing to Māori origins starting from Savaii (Hawaiiki) & the name TUI MANUA ALI'I MATUA 14th Samoan Ruler aka KĀRIKA within Maori - Māori & Maohi legends.Thanx to science we get facts, theyre still playing catch ups but at least they are verifying everything our tupuna told us from the GET GO!

Kia ora te whanau. For the benefit of persons whom trace their whakapapa back to the endeavour I'll hurihia tenei korero to my second language: My iwi, my hapu, my father, his father and his father and so on, my mother and her mother and her mother and so on down the line are passed but are very much alive while I gratefully carry their blood, and so too my children and their children irrespective of where on this earth they are born. My tipuna are deeply religious, I would go so far as to say they are meta-mega-superstitious. That belief was rammed into me by a foolish parent to the extent it did make me agnostic to eurocentric polity, their coniving and ulterior shenanigans. I know there will be NO SECOND COMING as I believe some of my kind have been fooled into accepting this outragious LIE. Similar to having to accept the circumstances of the emasculate conception (Joseph is the forgotten fool). Fooled into accepting in order to have my cultural, therefore ancestral, and individual mana reduced and suppressed, initially by expectant entitlement (tyrany; bare in mind european kings and queens, followed by dukes, marquis, barrons, earls, essentially the upper crust followed by their lackys, followed by the lacky of the lacky, followed again by the lackys of these further arse lickers, and so on down the line), followed immediately by conspiratorial law mongering and finally backed up with gun powder, and, even worse, thought of as a dangerous shamanism; imbiled onto every indigenous culture across the globe by an invading, marauding, ignorant tyrant culture (like the kremlin) and their equally misguided, under educated populous, past and current, no doubt some of whom were shanghaied from indigent, indigenous ignorant cultures, as is the evolving nature of all mankind. That's my kotahi rant. Therefore, I was raised with dual, and conflicting cultural misgivings. In my mind, sitting alone on a stool I am a star😂😂😂. (And trolls will be trolls in their weak little minds; ) Tohunga made up the bulk of my childhood. It was kept safe from fallacious ignorance. It has been my guide. It is, like the kehua, my culture, my belief system, my being (You have yours, and can keep it while I have mine. I am overjoyed to have stumbled on to this channel and whanau Che). The following is but one talismanic occurrence I will reveal here and now, at the risk of christian, all christian and their ilk, skepticism and criticism; I have an exact date because an untimely death had occurred. As a small boy I was awakened early one morning by the sounds of my mother crying softly. Being the fearless child I was my curiosity took charge. While the rest of the house remained silent save for the sounds of restful sleeping I walked tentatively to my parents bedroom. Mum was sitting up on the edge of her bed using a hanky to wipe away tears and mucous from her red eyes and equally sympathetic red nose. She'd obviously been awake for awhile, dad lay asleep next to her on his side with his blanket covered back toward us. Through watery eyes she looked at me sheepishly, imploringly. She tried to talk but her words appeared lost in a private hell. The moment passed as she regathered her strength. Her first words to me were that someone from 'home' had passed away (home being my ancestral land some 50ks away from the town where we lived). She later told me that during the night my father was awoken by a sudden choking gargling which woke my mother. She tried consoling and comforting him but the sudden fit had a grasp of his throat as if something was choking him with hands around his throat which he was trying to fight off. But no amount of soothing administrations from my mum could stop the enmity that has taken ahold of my dad's profound consumption. When the filigree had passed my mum made the comment that someone back home had passed. And sure enough we'd received a phone call from home saying an uncle had accidentally shot himself while out hunting the previous day. A few days after the funeral our tohunga came to our town house to do a family cleansing ceremony onto myself, each of my siblings and parents individually. So sux you dumb asre trollers. My dad has some potent superstition. Kia tupato you eight billion strong lunatics. 😂

Kia Ora....I just want to ask , if you've ever heard of Tuamout islands? Beyond tahiti....between tahiti and marquesas islands? One of these islands is called fakarava, it's original name was Hawaiki, hawaiki runga to be specific...I watched a video where one kuia named a few places....Austral islands, aitutaki and raro is another and she named magaia as hawaiki nui I rememberabd she her father had written down 7 vaka that left the islands, and returned on a nber of voyages....another thing was on another island in the tuamotu's... amanu is a place where the local people say their ancestors left amanu on takitumu, takitumu is their vaka, their people...they are takitumu...another island called parata had a warrior class or men , solely there for war...away from the rest of the tribe...not allowed families, kids or wives...their existence was only for war....well 50 of their warships went missing with 3500 men aboard...they were never heard from again...some believe they come here too to escape their hard lifestyle....and from other stories told.about these warrior people....were very similar to our warriors...another fact is that...some of these islands speak the closest language to te reo maori.....even closer that cook island maori and tahitian language...paumotu language has 7 different dialects from different groups of islands...they also have alot of the same place names as here too.....one thing about the kuia I.talked about earlier was that they had never heard of kupe...or his story..and she said the original name of aotearoa that she knew from her ancestors was a place called ruterani/ruterangi...that her people traveled back m forth from.....seems like too much coincidences for it all to be a coincidence lol

Would be Lovely to hear personal reflections on the karakia. I am however still unsure of what it is especially for Maori. Appreciate its been adopted to reference Christian prayer but would also like to know when Maori invoke atua, with no Christian reference, who or what are they invoking. And do they do this in the belief that the Maori gods ancestors etc are real and will hear and respond or do Maori see these things now as myths?

We Hawaiians came from the ‘Aina the land. Our ancestor is the Kalo plant. It nourishes us and helped us circumnavigate the pacific with just the stars and elements. The old ones speak of “Kahiki” which some believe to be Tahiti (which some of our ancestors did come from). I believe that our Kanaka Maoli in Hawaii sent off a fleet of our people to the south where they found “Aokealoa” (eventually called “Aotearoa”) Hawaiian and Maori are so similar genetically and linguistically. Surely other Polynesians made it to Aotearoa after and intermingled with the Maori and changed their language into what it is today from the original Olelo Hawai’i. Apostrophes became “k”s and influences from Samoa and Tonga changed many of the “N”s to the “ing” sounding “Ng”. We hawaiians consider the Maori to be our closest cousins and we have great love for all of our Polynesian peoples. We are all the protectors of the pacific and all of our cultures have a special role in safe guarding Te Tai Moana. It was my ancestors who used the ancient constellations given to them from the celestial kupuna to find our special home. Hawai’i Nui.

Hawaii was invaded by the Acient Tahitians and taught the art of war and navigation elders who still speak of this knowledge even the fight art was taught from Acient Tahitians, Marquesas islanders. The Mythology of Maori is of the Acient untainted pure version found and published in a known book and reconsidered that Egypt and Assyria Mythology was that of a cheap version of Maori Mythology that lead them to belive they are older than boath civilizations.

It’s we Kanaka Maoli who descend directly from the Kanaka who first touched this land that can carry that pride into the future as Hawaiians. So try to group themselves into our legacy and it’s upsetting that so many people speak openly and freely about our history, but so many only spew out inaccurate “legends” because they WANT to make themselves appear more elevated. We Hawaiians know our history and where we come from. Our precious oral history is secured and remembered clearly by our kupuna from generation to generation back to time the celestials brought the great Makana.

Hawaii discovered by Hawaii-loa, Polynesian fisherman-navigator who, tradition says, came from Kahiki (Tahiti?), an island to the south. He made several round trips, bringing with him a large company of retainers.1100 ca.-After a wave of navigation, intercourse with Tahiti ended.1300 ca.-According to an ancient chant, mele, Kalaunuiohua, moi of Hawaii, conquered Maui. Moi, in 19th century Hawaiian, signifies the supreme ruler or head chief, now usually termed king.1500-Piilani, king of Maui. He was succeeded by Lonoapii who in turn was overthrown by his brother Kihapiilani and his brother-in-law, King Umi of the Big Island. Bloody battles stretched from Kauiki to the sands of Waihee.1555-Possible discovery of Hawaii by Juan Gaetano, Spanish navigator. He prepared a manuscript chart now in the Spanish archives which contains a group of islands in the latitude of Hawaii but whose longitude is 10 degrees too far to the east. What corresponds to Maui is called La Desgradiada, the unfortunate. The largest, most southerly island, which should be the present Hawaii is labelled La Mesa, the table. Three other islands, appearing to be Kahoolawe, Lanai, and Molokai, are called Los Monjes, the monks.1736-King Kekaulike died and was succeeded by Kamehamehanui.1737-Alapainui, moi of Hawaii, invaded Maui via Kaupo. He took with him two young princely half-brothers, Kalaniopuu and Keoua. Keoua was father of Kamehameha I. Since Alapainui found his adversary, Kekaulike, dead, he made peace with the nephew, Kamehamehanui. The two joined forces to repel the invader, Kapiiohokalani of Oahu, in bloody, obstinate battles that ended in the rout of the Oahu army at Kawela, Molokai.1738-At Keawawa, West Maui, Alapanainui and Kamehamehanui decisively defeated Kauhi, the latter's brother and usurper of power.1750 ca.-The calculated date of the most recent activity of Haleakala, the Keoneoio flow above La Perouse Bay. The flow originated at Kaluaolapa at an elevation of 575 feet, and from vents one mile further northeast at an elevation of 1,550 feet. The method of dating is interesting. In 1841, Rev. Edward Bailey of Wailuku inquired about the eruption and was informed by Hawaiians that it happened at the time of their grandfathers. In 1906, Lorrin A. Thurston was told by a Chinese-Hawaiian cowboy, Charles Ako, that his father-in-law's grandfather at the time of the event was just old enough to carry "two" coconuts 4 or 5 miles from the sea to the upper road at an elevation of 2,000 feet. Since Hawaiians counted coconuts by fours, "two" probably refers to a total of eight nuts. Mr. Bailey was told that a woman and child were trapped by the flow but escaped after it cooled. By 1922, 80 years later, this tale had grown into a neo-myth about a husband and wife with their two children. The mother and her young daughter fled mauka, but were seized by Pele, and turned into the two lava columns that stand beside the vent at Kaluaolapa. The father and son, plunged into the sea and started swimming toward Kahoolawe. Pele cast rocks after them and turned the two to stone. The two rocks, a big and a little one, can be seen today rising out of the sea several hundred feet out from shore as proof of the tale. Mr. Thurston's estimate of the date of the eruption is 1750 while J. F. G. Stokes, Hawaiian ethnologist, favors a later date, possibly 1770.1754-Kalaniopuu, warlike king of Hawaii, captured the fortress Kauiki and held it successfully for more than 20 years.1765-Kamehamehanui died and was succeeded by his brother, Kahekili.1768-Queen Kaahumanu was born at Kauiki. Kia Ora Che, finding your knowledge at the beginning of my journey is awesome! I'm 56 yrs old and I have only just begun to delve. I've done my whakapapa right back to the beginnings...before Takitimu brought my whanau here....I'm so happy. It filled this gaping hole I've carried most of my life...Now I learn te reo...self teaching with the reo on full on media 24/7 until I feel my next step. Thank you, you're appreciated.

It's amazing how many Maori don't engage in the spiritual world these days it's a big part of our culture and should be embraced it's a gift to be used to help our people

I just want to tell you bro this is a weird story. When I went for counselling at my local public mental health clinic. Head psychiatrist for Maori and cultural affairs, overheard my story that I told my counselor in their weekly meeting. Ensure you might not believe me but this ,actually happened but that's ok. He actually came in and told me I was both, and he said it was very rare in virtually never happens. Got it kind of scared me because I was basically a kid at the time. And I just wanted counselling ,so didn't go ahead with it he wanted to introduce me to people. Total respect bro. Thank you so much for teaching me the right words I forgot what they were
