Well it is live action, so it's already kind of hated. Mainly what irritates me is how they blend together 'asian' to get a weird mix of completely unique cultures to get this 'oriental' vibe. Lily James is the best Cinderella. Her personality was so on point and endearing. And the dress looks so magical and stunning. The whole film was whimsical and beautiful while still being realistic and believable.

There’s also a Czech/German version of the Three Wishes for Cinderella (but it’s called Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella), the storyline is pretty much the same but it’s much older. The dress for the ball are not very special in my opinion but I LOVE her wedding dress later in the movie. Just saying, if you wanted to check it out 😘

Ever After is my top favorite too with 2015 close behind that too. One of my other favorite Cinderella dresses that never gets talked about is Rodgers and Hamerstein Cinderella from 1965. I love the actors and all the other costumes along with Cinderella. I honestly wish i have ideas how to make her crown in that so i can finally cosplay it. I wish it gets more love. The slipper and the rose is good. Just that, she looks good and when Cinderella is standing next to her they're beautiful together but when she's in the room with all the other dancers her dress is a similar color and shape to everyone else that it just sadly blends in. But the characters and all the music numbers makes it's such a delight to watch.

The velvet and bows look great but I agree the underskirt isn’t really meshing. Re-pleating in a different way to fake the look you’re after (trying on scrap fabric) might also help a bit. But in the end…this isn’t something you’re getting paid to make, really. If you’re not inspired, if it’s not working, you’re absolutely allowed to drop it. It’s about you doing what you find fun!

A cotton sateen might be a good combination of affordable and workable, compared to silk satin on one end and one of the plastic satins on the other. Super excited to see this come together! I love Sakizou’s more royal styled images (right after the more burlesque looks lol). This red is going to look so good too. An excellent color palette.

Okay the dress was an awful choice all around for belle and the time period and they could have absolutely recreated the original animated dress as hundreds of cosplayers have done so perfectly well but you cant say emma watson was partially responsible for the failure of the dress because she didn't want to wear a corset. If the dress was properly tailored, the lack of a corset would have been no problem. Of course her reasons for not wanting to wear a corset at time may have been misguided but its on the costume department to work the costumes to fit the actors.

It is absolutely fine to not want to wear a corset, especially after they tightlaced Lily James so much she said she couldn't breathe.

I hate EW's ugly Walmart prom dress so much 🙄 Belle is MY PRINCESS!! She's the one who shares my personality, looks like me (real talk why is Belle our only brunette Disney Princess??) and her dress is a dream come true!! I had a happy meal toy of belle in that dress and i would spend HOURS gazing at that dress and imitating the way Belle moved in it. She needed a corset, a crinoline (panniers at least) and a MUCH more attentive seamstress!! Cosplayers have nicer dresses than the movie did!!

That's doubly important with the live-action Little Mermaid. Little black girls deserved to see someone like them getting the full princess treatment.

Where did you find the foam hearts. I'm planning out Cosmos and thinking of making both the round buns and some heart ones since the wig will also be for Sailor Moon as well.
